10:02 That seems to be ice coming off the rocket, which is fantastic attention to detail. Most rockets use cryogenic liquid fuels, so the skin of the vehicle gets very cold while it is fueled up before launch. This causes frost or ice to form, which gets shaken loose during launch. Its a nice call out to real rockets like the space shuttle, which they seem to have referenced heavily here, and it makes the shot look fantastic.

Great catch. E.g. icing from liquid oxygen / hydrogen / methane. Awesome detail, I didn't notice that. Actually I never thought of it before, but how do solid fuel rockets cool their nozzles without all the chilly juice?? 😂
@isned2000Ай бұрын
@@DaimyoD0 Usually they don’t and just let them ablate, building in sacrificial inserts if they plan on reusing the solid booster space shuttle style. Solid rockets also tend to burn colder than liquid rockets, and all binder, bits of unburnt fuel, and combustion products that are in the exhaust carry away extra heat.

I watched it last night. One hope I have is that Diane will remain a main character despite not appearing so much in the trailer AND that her and Wolf's relationship will continue
@NoTheRobotАй бұрын
I hope so too!
@woomygobrr4708Ай бұрын
@NoTheRobot I'll mention you too in this as someone who grew up with the books, they 100% will keep her a main character, trust me. I'll write this further down if you don't want spoilers, but its in the original books, so it should be fine, and this isn't confirmed, but just a strong theory. in the original books, the "bad girls" were actually a crew of misunderstood specimen trying to be good, in reflection to the bad guys. the group was made of agent kitty kat (the cat), agent hogwild (the pig) and agent doom (the bird). however, in the books, agent fox, the leader of these girls, was a part of this crew. throughout the whole of the first bad guys film, we can see that Diane is 1000% reflecting agent fox in the books. the trailer didn't show Diane (agent fox in the books) with the "bad girls". considering the films appear to be an evolution of the story of the books, while adding their own flare, there is 1000% a backstory between these "bad girls" and Diane (agent fox), that will be dug into in the second film. No sign of agent shortfuse from the book though. I wonder where that'll come in

The Bad Guys did so much for using traditional 2D animation conventions in a 3D animated movie. You could pause any moment where the characters were in motion and see super creative and interesting stuff. Like smear frames, motion lines, or when the character's silhouette gets squished and stretched, for which I'm sure there's a technical term I can't remember lol Based on the trailer it looks like the sequel won't disappoint on that classic cartoonish (and anime-esque) charm. 3:49 Big agree, they feel hand-drawn. In the first film, when Wolf and Diane are dancing at the charity banquet or w/e, I remember the facial animation felt so full of life I genuinely forgot I was watching an animated film for a moment; the facial animations were doing so much work to advance the character relationships without any dialogue. Also am I insane to say there's something about the color here that reminds me of Arcane in a way I can't put my finger on? lol
@NoTheRobotАй бұрын
Totally feels hand drawn!! You should search for @ChibeTTo’s 2D animation he made for the prison fight scene in the first movie. He basically just drew the entire fight and then matched the poses in 3D to the hand-drawn poses and expressions.

If you have a computer I'd recommend checking out the software Blender (it's 100% free!). You can also download some free rigs from the website "agora.community" (under Assets) and get started with maniuplating a 3d rig like a puppet. Otherwise you can start learning figure drawing and anatomy - if you know the basics of that then animation is just using some tricks to bring the rest of the drawings to life. Hope that helps!

At around 7:51, I'm curious why go the extra mile to break the character rig to make a shot when instead you can manipulate the virtual camera's FOV and other parameters? Genuinely curious why that isn't an option, or at least the first option for animators.
@TheGlitchyFoxАй бұрын
This exact shot likely wouldn't be possible without some form of rig breaking. If you tried making a wide FOV to achieve this, you might end up hurting the composition of the shot by having everything super stretched to get what you want. That being said, manipulating the FOV and the parameters of the camera is still used in a lot of cases I would assume.
@NoTheRobotАй бұрын
It's a combination of the two! Usually these types of shots with an exaggerated forced perspective have a very wide FOV (usually like a 12-20mm focal length), but that usually only gets them halfway there. It's all about sculpting the pose to be exactly what the animator wants it to be. The camera FOV is usually dictated by the Layout department and between the Layout artist and the Animation artist they will figure out the right balance between the two

Dreamworks are def selling out with their live action dragons movie, but they're at least countering it with actual peak
@NoTheRobotАй бұрын
What's so frustrating is that DreamWorks Animation itself has VERY LITTLE to do with that live action remake. Universal is slapping the DreamWorks name on something that's a slap in the face to the artist that worked on the original - many of whom are STILL at DreamWorks. So if you're gonna blame anyone, blame NBCUniversal.

But let's be realistic, it is true that in the beginning there was a lot of DreamWorks' work that suggested that it was influenced by the rest of the animation film studios with a touch of their own creativity. But over the years, they developed a special style and produced distinctive films Until King Fu Panda came, then How to Train Your Dragon, and then Megamind, this studio gained a special weight. The same applies to the movie the bad guys In fact, I saw a lot of critics and analysts whose opinion I did not know about this film First, they say that the film is a complete imitation in style of the film The Mecheal vs the Machine Yes, there is a similarity in style But I enjoyed The Bad Guys much more than that movie Even if it is similar, the creativity and greatness in the film cannot be overlooked As critics have begun to criticize incorrectly without impartiality There is no need to mention the animation company, which if it produces random pictures, critics compete to bring out the creativity in it, even if this work came out spontaneously. Because I saw that critics were criticizing the movie The Bad Guys The negatives they mention are illogical, and I have sufficient responses to all negative criticism In fact, we can say that this is the best comedy, humor and fun film in the last ten years. There does not need to be depth, it is enough to have an idea that is presented cheerfully and with the pleasure of the experience and entertainment.
@KezSah-r8pАй бұрын
What do you think about that? What do you think? Doesn't DreamWorks deserve any praise and appreciation for their work?
@KezSah-r8pАй бұрын
It is true that DreamWorks did not produce as many wonderful films as Disney But some of their films are masterpieces It may be the best animated film in history There are some works that are not fully appreciated
@KezSah-r8pАй бұрын
Critics, in the end, are humans influenced by childhood nostalgia Disney and Pixar's Conan were at the top at one time Even with the decline in their recent work, many critics still prefer it over other studios If a new film is released, no matter how much creativity, new things, new ideas and style it contains, critics still find similarities and connections with Pixar films. Even if the new film offers something distinctive and different, it cannot be appreciated Because their standards of excellence are what Disney and Pixar did. If it comes with something new and distinctive and does not agree with what Disney and Pixar were producing, then it is bad Because their criterion of excellence is not creativity, but rather whether it follows the approach of Pixar and Disney
@KezSah-r8pАй бұрын
As I mentioned, DreamWorks does not have a list of distinguished films with the same number of Disney and Pixar films But it has some films that may be classified as some of the best animated films in history 1- how to train your dragon 1 2- the wild robot 3- Kung Fu Panda 1 4- Kung Fu Panda 2 and 3 5- the bad guys (count as entertaining not for features ) 6- push and boots the last wish 7- how to train your dragon 2 8- megamind (underrated) 9- rise of The guardian (underrated) 10- spirit (underrated)
