Have had my first ever BMW, an F48 X1 for four years now. Fully specced and love it to bits. But as a dog owner , I keep thinking at some point the 3 series tourer will be the next choice so loving this video.

Bi Bobby, if you enjoy your X1, you will absolutely love moving to a tourer. Try and get a 3L diesel if you can manage. Thanks for the comment! Stephen

Totally agree! I’ve had my f31 335d for more than 6 years now, bought it approved used from Douglas Pk when it was 18months old. I’ve toyed with getting a G21 m340d but mine is bought, it’s paid for, it’s only got 57000 miles on it, full dealer history, it’s wonderful & replacing it to be honest would be stupidity. In my ownership the one & only fault it’s had was a boot strut failed under warranty, it’s been totally reliable apart from that. Simply the best all round car I’ve ever owned.

Best all-rounder without a doubt I've got a f30 335d and absolutely love it so much so if anything happened to it I'd replace it with another I got it mapped run 403 bhp and it does 0to60 in 3.42 secs for a any car that's quick never mind a diesel The new g series drive exactly the same and love the look and the cabin I would definitely have a g series 340d or even a 540d has you said if you are buying a diesel it's without doubt got to be a straight six I agree about the arch gap with the x drive I need to get those Eibachs on mine just for aesthetics

I currently drive a G21 330d xdrive, with a pan roof. An excellent driving car with more than enough power for me.

Looks like the ride is still ok and smooth with the Eibach pro-kit, you don’t seem to hoping around and the misses doesn’t seem to have any issue with the ride. I am looking to get a set of springs for my f30

Hi Justin, yeah, Julie was totally fine with it. It was really only when pushing on over a choppy road. For the price of just springs and labour to fit/alinement, it's totally fine.

Similar to another, I’ve had my F31 335d LCI for 4 years now, touch wood absolutely faultless. Mine is nicely specced with the pan roof also, having black interior (Mrs didn’t want anything else) it really helps brighten it up inside with offspring in the back. I have a set of AC schnitzer springs in the loft for it but have always wondered if I was going to ruin it just for better looks with the passive dampers. Just not quite taken that plunge yet. Will likely have it for another 3 years at least until my wife’s golf is paid off, otherwise I’d just be changing for a newer model of what I have

Hi Chris, if you aren't bothered about the ride height, I'd just leave it as is tbh. They do look great with a little height out of them, but I do think it makes them a bit compromised on choppier roads and can be quite crashy at times if pushing on a bit. They are such good cars, and would be tempted by a fourth if the unicorn spec presented itself. Until then, a nice 330d G21 is on the radar, or M340d. Ideally in green. Not wanting much! :)

Being 5'9" I too feel the 5 is just too big for my requirements. They do ride very well though, and could argue that you do get more for your money. @@JamesGlenCarSales1982 Sometimes it’s not the trying harder it’s the tried and tested formula and focus on the end user / viewer that is important. Skills you have from the sales side of the business where your vehicles are prepped and presented impeccably. I am also 5’9” or thereabouts and the 5 was large but it stopped just short of being too large for me. The 3 is undoubtedly the sweet spot though. Time for me to get back into a BMW soon I think. It’s where my heart is in cars certainly. It would be an honour to visit you one day. I was due up in Edinburgh for The Fringe but I have had to cancel unfortunately. Keep doing what you are doing Stephen and look forward to meeting you one day.

one off the best cars a had was a Peugeot 406 with 2.1td that thing could shift 110 brake but what a car u just touched the throttle and it was flying

Tbf, Peugeot did make some of the best diesel back in the 90s I used to love driving 306 D Turbo's back when we use to sell them. Handled great too!

The newer mild hybrid diesel in the x5 is exceptional. My Dad has found it had a big difference in responsiveness in comparison to the regular one in his last x5. I do agree, The 6 Cylinder does just sound heaps better. I think for me after the insurance becomes affordable and I've had a few cars i will definitely be looking at an M340D touring as it just makes sense for practicality and comfort.

Hi Callum, I noticed a lot of the newer tourers I had looked at had MHT. The response must be pretty epic, as they are no slouch as they are. Can't hurt MPGs too so win win 👌 Thanks for the comment 👍

@@JamesGlenCarSales1982 Yeah, a lot of them are. The response is immense. I’ve drove both and the older one felt a little slow to respond to me but the new one is straight there. The MPG is epic aswell. I’ve got a 1.0 Petrol fiesta and I get about 40 MPG and the 3.0 Diesel in the x5 can match that all day long even with my dads extremely heavy foot! An epic car definitely, when we got our last one it was such an upgrade from pervious gen and we thought there was nothing else that could be done to it. But they really topped it this time the car is just exceptional and the build quality is top notch compared to the previous gens. I’ve been in a new q7 and didn’t think it was anywhere near as good as the x5 we’ve got. Although it’s certainly very pricey. I believe the model we have is reaching about £85k which is expensive for what it is but when you compare it to a Range Rover in my opinion you get your moneys worth!

Any thoughts on tyres please? Are they runflats? If so, how do they compare with normal top brand tyres. TY.

Hi Brian, where ever possible, I would run with regular tyres as they're more compliant, especially with out broken roads. Just need to make sure you have a can of tyre sealant in the car.

We’ve only ever had one 340i and I was disappointed with it tbh. Love the engine in an M140i, but wasn’t mad keen on it in the 340i And the car was a manual, so should have been ace.

I love the look of them, but for me an estate really suits a big powerful diesel. Its too heavy to go proper quick it without decimating the tyres/brakes. Alpina D3S is the dream 👍
