What has really annoyed me in Fallout 4 is that they show us a region that did not really get back up in 200+ years following the Great War, plagued by multitude of threats and most people barely hanging on. And the greatest moral dilemma in the game is... AI civil rights. [SARCARSTIC]: Yeah, that makes total sense. So I usually pick the Brotherhood because they actually are the best chance for the Commonwealth. (Yeah, the Minutemen are also there, but their questline SUCKS).

The only issue I have with fo4's BOS (Besides the blimp of course) is that they want to fully destroy the Synths instead of just reprogramming them and using them as warriors that don't need to eat or sleep if you program them right with a internal battery

1. You are given a choice to steal the crops or pay for them. If you didn't pay for the crops like a decent person thats on YOU not the ECBOS. 2. The whole thing isn't even approved by Arthur in the first place, Teagen is going behind Arthur's back on this and doesn't want him to know. 3. Teagen has been punished for this type of behavior before. Heck its why he is the quatermaster, he is no longer trusted to leave the Prwyden. 4. Other BOS members, as seen in the aftermath of their ending, are perfectly fine with paying for their goods in Diamond City. 5. Arthur sets the standard for the BOS, not Teagen and he shouldn't be treated like he represents the entire chapter, heck Tegaen is actively going against the things the ECBOS stand for.

Love how, like every mouth breather on the subject, you pointedly ignore The Minute Men despite them being explicitly the player back up option that is quite literally whatever the player makes of them. You also pointedly ignore the absolute fact that, in 'cannon' (get it?), the minutemen are the only faction with reliable and reliably used artillery platforms that, again, depending on player action, can quite literally cover the entirety of the Commonwealth. An area that, yes very much includes Boston airport and the very low to the ground and very big and easy target that is the Prydwen. I understand that in fiction in general there's a big anti-artillery just like there's a big bias for street level/tier characters, but until the BOS gets suddenly competent at point defense for their big metal blimp, their vertibirds get well armored enough to stop being routinely blasted out of the sky by dudes with pipe pistols when even modern day helicopters can reliably withstand full powered rifle cartridges from proper small arms, or, better yet, they start manufacturing and employing even basic mortars let alone proper howitzers let alone proper howitzers with the mininuke shells the minutemen employ, the BOS from their initiates to their Knights to Paladins are all just going to be bigger arty bait than if they were Ukrainian.

@@spiffygonzales5160 But their capability is literally whatever the player makes them to be and their ideals are literally better than the Brother Hood. See, people think the Brother Hood are better because they're actually competent on a basic level to start, are the second most advanced on average to start, and are by far the ones with the most military might and sense to start. They certainly don't they're better because their ideals are better and often admit their ideals are pretty sus, not gonna lie. The thing about their advantages though is that those advantages remain relatively static while, again, the Minutemen can get to a point where they've got overlapping fields of arty covering the capitol wasteland and can deliver devasting barrages on any point in the map. Artillery that, as a reminder, makes quick mincemeat of the Brotherhood should you choose to irradicate them because the BOS, for all their advancement, suffer from the same anti-artillery bias most things in fiction have and the Pryden is a big, stationary, obvious, hard to miss target that for all the Brother's tech can not take a Minuteman arty bombardment. Even with Liberty Prime, which is also something the player can help the brotherhood get just like the the arty for the minutemen, the Brotherhood in this game would still by all rights lose to a fully realized by the player Minutemen organization because Liberty Prime isn't actually that durable and has fallen to the same type of mini-nuke arty before during that Fallout 3 DLC. It also doesn't help Prime is relatively slow, a giant obvious target, and once he's gone the brotherhood loses their single most powerful asset while even if Prime was able to somehow walk up to a Minuteman settlement with arty and not be spotted well in advance and not die from subsequent bombardment, there are plenty of other positions where Minutemen could be holed up with arty. Again, maybe if their vertibirds weren't so trash and could counter the immense firepower advantage of the Minutemen taken to their heights by the player, then you'd have an argument, but as it stands the Brotherhood start off the game infantry heavy like everyone else without anything resembling adequate fire support while the Minutemen start off as the least most powerful faction but can quickly be rebuilt into the NCR but with literally more firepower than the Brotherhood, and we know how the Brotherhood fared against an NCR that didn't exactly match their firepower but had way more dudes and a much better industrial and resource and manpower base.

@@VunderGuy All very well and all that! but, the minutemen don't exist without the player, also the minutemen's artillery doesn't make any sense because of the poor short range they have, except for Nordhagen Beach, which is unlikely that the brotherhood would allow them to install such a dangerous weapon nearby from their base, the whole artillery plot is absurd! suddenly and out of nowhere all the artillery that seems from the first world war is capable of reaching the boston airport a very long distance and shoots down an aircraft anchored in a tower with perfect precision, it sounds like an absurd plot armor in fact that's why I don't like the minutmen they are the only ones who can literally kill all factions including the "railroad" but no one can kill them or make an enemy of them of the player. for me brotherhood is the only option that can bring stability to the commonwealth.

While I have a soft spot for the Minutemen (Preson despite being an annoying radiant quest giver strikes me as a decent guy and I like having him as a companion), I always prefer the Brotherhood of Steel. Power armor, air support, Paladin Danse (I don't care about him being a synth, dude is a bro) and of course Liberty Prime Mk. 2. Or as I have named him, the God-Machine.

Even though the minute men have the advantage of artillery I don’t think it puts them ahead of the brotherhood. After completing the story with the brotherhood I noticed they placed military checkpoints all over the wasteland basically stationing troops ahead of time compared to the minute men seeing a flare and coming to you the brotherhoods already there and their lazer riffles are hot

I feel like the BOS's biggest weakness in fo4 is the Prydwen; it makes a cool entrance, and definitely exerts power floating in the sky like that, but it's also a giant vulnerability. All it takes is for an enemy to do enough damage to take it out of the sky, and the entire Commonwealth BOS is wiped out in one blow. In fact, that is exactly what happens in every ending where they lose. Without the Prydwen, it would've been near impossible for any of the other factions to actually take them out. I think it would've been a lot smarter for them to disassemble the Prydwen and use the parts to make the airport into a permanent fortress. Or at least park it somewhere where it can't fall onto their main base of operations, lol

I don’t think the prydwen is the death nail in just existing, but I do think it was a massive waste to leave it floating over the airport. Maxson used it as a show of force when it already proved its roll in moving massive amounts of troops and supplies to an area of operation even over large distances. I think a better use would be using it to move supplies and new recruits from the commonwealth back to DC for proper soldier training than the learn on the job approach the SS gets and then moving those now properly trained soldiers back to the commonwealth with better training and understanding of the brotherhood.

I think in a real world scenerio the prydwen would definitely move off site away from the main base of the airport to maintain its usefulness as a vertibird refueler. Then again I could totally see that being another thing the airport would be used for once the Brotherhood established a foothold. I like to view the game with as little influence from the sole survivor as possible and I think the BoS is a very clear winner every time.

Best choice would actually be the Minutemen if for no other reason than the player can mold them however they see fit compared to the BOS who are as static and stagnant as they've ever been despite probably being the strongest we've ever seen them in an actual game and not just background lore we as players never actually get to experience.

As always great video only one slight complaint the sound balancing at around 26 minutes seems a little off. The major problem i got with Fallout04 is that it was the limitation of the game engine the Bethesda Group keep using. If only F04 was a much more massive map over all with huge areas in between settlement that is full of agrresive npc. It was a let down when your settlement area is just stone throw away from each other. Specially the main questline is poorly handle as it limits what faction you can have. Which resulted in making Institute the best faction for the wasteland for an overall protagonist gameplay.

@@greatwargaming2924 Your playing as the main character, after taking over the whole institute, you can now correct what the institute is doing wrong for the good of the commonwealth. If your a male protagonist your expertise in military will come in handy and if your the female protagonist your law expertises will help the commonwealth wasteland law. Unlike in BOS, after taking over you are still answering to a much higher leader in the hierarchy, which is also the same in Railroad. While the Minutemen make your whole campaign exhaust the current wasteland resources and manpower as you fight the other factions in the name of peace.

The only big thing I would disagree with you here is any significant amount of commonwealth people join the brotherhood because of their treatment of the people of the commonwealth. From the very beginning they are taking advantage of them and I doubt any real amount would join. That leaves the expedition limited to really only what they could fit on their airship. Honestly I blame that more on Bethesda writing than the brotherhood but the issue remains.

If we look at history the before the timelines diverge the Enclave in the US are a small remnant cut off from the greater less advanced force. A good example being the Nazis Over 2/3rds of them managed to flee through ratlines or hide in plain sight in other Governments. The Enclave would be able to take a large number of stranded US forces and its ally's to its side. The Enclave in the states are just the hard core zealots that refused to leave. Most of the US military would be stationed outside the US with over 100 bases not to mention annexed Canada or ally's of the us with its low population would be a very good place for them to ratline into and keep most of there forces. The brotherhood where formed from the desperate cut off remnants of the military left in the states. I think with the forces stationed outside of the US the Enclave is in a very good position to take over or convert people from other country's with no resources and ability to fight back. It looks like we will see a major battle between The Brotherhood and main force of the Enclave trying to take back the country they believe is rightfully there's. Caesar's legion and the NCR being exhausted from war the Brotherhood is the only force in there way and the Enclave wants to get some of that tech that belongs to them back.

The Brotherhood seems to have formed not long after the Great Atomic War. It's hard to know, they care little for history. They like to pretty up their mission with trappings of chivalry, but the truth is they're hoarders; they hoard technology. It's been 200 years and they still have the mentality of scavengers. They say they're preserving these technologies but for what? They have no vision, they offer no future, they're a dead end."

In my view, those "knights" aren't so different from us raiders. Techniclly the BOS only win in 2 games. The first and the 3rd. You can argue the 4, but there are other factions to choose, unless Bethesda said the BOS is the cannon end (if they did I don't know). Oh the Fallout Tactics and BOS aren't cannon so... you know.
