Why the Canon R5 isn't for me (and I how I choose my cameras)

Absolutely agree with your points there man... especially the purpose and ergonomics side of it !! No use taking photos you can't edit and no use buying a camera you can't handle 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Btw would definitely appreciate comparison shots between the R5 and the 1DX especially with the low light stuff cuz I've got no experience with those two 😅😅

I agree with all your points mentioned especially point 3- the low light performance matters the most to me. That’s why I went with the R6 instead. And it complements my 1Dx2 perfectly and fits in with my existing workflow.

For me, it's image quality. The newer camera's produce too clean images for me. I like my 5D, 1Ds and my X-T1. Don't do video, don't need those specs.

I do both photography and videography, but no intentions of doing it professionally, maybe semi-professional ( if that's a thing 😅 ) So to me, I need one that can provide Good workflow. Durability. 24mp is enough for me tbh. 4K 60 is enough as well I haven't learned log modes or c log modes or any of those, so at this point in time, having those modes can help me learn about them.

Weather seal and comfortable ergonomics is a must. Min. 24MP, IBIS, Full-frame, touch-screen and good battery life are pretty much the standard in 2021.

Since we are on the topic of noise @8:15 , I shoot a lot of low-light photography. Like you, I despise having unwanted noise in my photographs. I wonder if the *R6* may be a better alternative in the handling of noise when shooting higher ISO due to its lower megapixel count? I've been told that the R6 and the 1Dx III uses the same processor/ chip? Please advise.

OK - so the R5 isn't for you - perfectly understandable. That said - is it possible that the RF lenses combined with the R6 (at half the price) could tempt you into the Canon 'R' world...??

Oh yeah, the R6 would actually have been my choice to move over to the RF but after a hands on with the R3, that would my choice for the switch
