I attended a Fireside in the UK where Elder Holland said that Joseph Smith was only armed with a walking cane when he and Hyrum were murdered by assassins. Obviously no one told Elder Holland that pistols had been smuggled into the jail!

@alexanderv7702 We have to ask ourselves this question, was our Prophet Joseph Smith and his Brother Hyrum killed? Answer's perfectly clear, (yes,) isn't that telling us something about the fullness and the truthfulness of, THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS? We have to really think, pray, about the amazing love of our HEAVENLY PARENT'S, restoring THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST, back on earth, in these LATTER DAYS.

There's a great book by an LDS author that shows that there is perfect harmony between the prophetic statements concerning the garden of Eden being in Missouri and the Old Testament account concerning the garden of Eden. It's called Canaan, Babylon, and Egypt A Comparative Theological Analysis on Creation sold by Eborn Books and Benchmark Books.

Elder Holland is always a man of insight. The early Christian church didn’t use the cross as a religious symbol. The cross didn’t appear in the Christian art and artifacts that we have from before the reign of Emperor Constantine 300 years after his resurrection. I do respect my friends with devotion to the cross as a symbol. But Elder Holland said it best.

I don't care what the church does. I display the cross in my home in a few modest places. To me it means exactly what Holland quotes at the end of this video - it's a reminder of Jesus's atoning sacrifice and also a reminder that I should take up my cross and follow Him. We remember Jesus's death and burial in the sacrament, which is composed of signs and tokens and emblems of the garden and the cross. I remember his resurrection when I see a cross, as well as the suffering he endured for us in the atoning sacrifice. Statements like these lead members to believe that it's somehow bad to use it to remember Him, when their own icons such as the temple, an iron rod, or a CTR ring don't seem nearly as poignant and representative of the core message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, in my opinion. Do what makes you remember Him and let the church do what they want.

A lot of offended people in the comments, we are the OG Christians and other denominations are corrupted by man and have been for centuries. So glad God and his beloved Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph Smith in the sacred grove and started this entire religion that I’ve known all my life. I know that no love is more pure than that that comes from my Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Using titles such as Apostle, elder or any other term is NOT a New Testament injunction, unless of course you are not using either Old or New Testament scriptures, but another script of man's invention. Ephesians 4 states the '5-fold' ministry but no-one is commanded to call believers by titles. Jesus Christ rebuke the leaders in Matthew 23 for self-exaltation with robes, titles, etc. Paul, in his epistles refers to 'beloved', 'saints' at...(location). The cross of Jesus Christ....is a symbol of Jesus Christ's crucifixion and the total payment of my sin, and the empty cross, is a symbol of HIS resurrection from the dead. Of itself it may not necessarily hold any power per se but I watched with joy as a Copitic priest in Cairo prayed for and saw delivered a young man with a demon, while using a cross and placing it on the young boy's head.

PS...sorry for the somewhat disjointed Coments but to finalise, the cross is that symbol of satan's defeat and the futility of ceremony and washings. The church that Jesus Christ founded has continued without man's efforts and will continue without ever needing 'reforming' as the article states because Jesus Christ, the head of HIS church continues until the of the age.
