Dalek Bumps

Күн бұрын

Faced with the impending destruction of the universe, the Paradigm Daleks chose to form an Alliance with many of the Doctor's enemies, including Cybermen and Sontarans, to prevent the destruction of his TARDIS and save the universe by trapping him inside the Pandorica. But what is the history of this ill-fated Alliance, and why would the Daleks want to join in the first place?

I like The Daleks being willing to ally with other races if it suits their goals, it shows that they’re capable of patience and manipulation. Some fans seem to really dislike this example of it, but The Daleks would certainly have double-crosses the rest of the alliance if the Universe hadn’t been destroyed before they could.

I like to think the Daleks would form an alliance only if it suits their goals then after they've done their thing they would turn on the people they allied with.

I have no problem with daleks forming alliances, only to betray them once a certain objective has been achieved. Perfect examples of this are Daleks masterplan, frontier in space, death to the daleks. They will go along with an alliance until a opportunity for them to take control and gain the upper hand. I think is very dalek. I bet the daleks would betray the alliance once the doctor was secure and the universe was safe.

Even though the Daleks probably didn't, I wonder if any of the villains at Trenzalore chose to ally with each other during the centuries of battle on that planet.

The Cult of Skaro clearly didn't need an alliance when Thay shot the Cybermen. In other situations, the Daleks have had uneasy alliances when it suited, and which they would have betrayed later.

I prefer to think that the dalek eternal survived the timeline reset, retained the information, but on the suggestion that an alliance had been formed by the daleks, the other daleks deemed it obviously insane, and similar treatment followed for much of the new paradigm, hence their decline as they became pariahs for suggesting the daleks would ever stoop so low.

"Daleks have never allied with lesser species", a Dalek claims. Lesser species have naively allied with the Daleks, despite the knowing the Daleks want to exterminate them. This makes the Daleks despite them even further. "Look how stupid the lesser species are"' a Dalek thinks.

I've already shared my personal headcanon on what the Dalek Eternal is, but I like to think that if the end of the universe wasn't a thing and that the Doctor was successfully sealed in the Pandorica regardless, the alliance would immediately break out into fighting then and there. But that's just me. Personally, I love the concept of the Daleks forming alliances. It's like a game of RISK or Stellaris. There's always the possibility of betrayal and outliving the usefulness of one.

There’s a good chance the Daleks themselves *founded* the Alliance - of all its members they’re by far the most advanced/knowledgeable in temporal affairs and would likely be the first to know of something as big as the Total Event Collapse, or atleast the first to trace the cause As for Power of the Doctor, the last NY Dalek special showed how much of a priority neutralising the Doctor became for them post Flux

It's not unheard of for Daleks to align with other species of course, but there should always be an underlining feeling of superiority and desire for betrayal in these cases. Like it takes a lot out of the Daleks to even tolerate their "partners" presence. This instance made the Daleks feel too sincere, especially since they'd likely be the only species present in the episode to craft the pandorica, yet would likely prefer a *much* different plan.

I have a feeling that if the dalek eternal remembered the events of the event collapse then instead of taking the ease of capturing the doctor with others help as a sign to work with others it likely would have declared that as the alliance was inaccurate about the cause and ultimately failed in killing or sealing the doctor it would likely consider this a reason not to ally with others as their percieved imperfections were likely the cause of the inaccurate reports and would instead likely think that had the daleks worked alone on a similar plan perhaps building robots like bracewell as the romans then they would have succeeded.

Why did the daleks join the alliance that is supposed to protect reality from the doctor, but if I may ask what were the daleks doing in series 4 mainly at the end
@dalekbumps
@dalekbumps 7 ай бұрын
In the series 4 scenario, they were destroying the universe in a way that would ensure their survival and dominion over what remained. In series 5, they would have been destroyed alongside everything else, a fact that they found intolerable

I know this isn’t technically apart of the video but I want to know you think of my theory and it’s that there is really any evidence to say the paradigm daleks weren’t around after time of the doctor yes they weren’t in the dalek city in magicians apprentice but we do know that the dalek parliament did have red supreme daleks leading fleets as seen in the master episode vengeance and we don’t really see the ruling body of daleks for Jodie’s era so I like to think the paradigm still ruled the daleks in this time period and why not? The paradigm deserved better and I think doctor who is better with them as it makes the daleks more interesting and more diverse
@dalekbumps
@dalekbumps 7 ай бұрын
From what we see in Asylum of the Daleks, the Paradigm don't rule the Daleks by the end of the Eleventh Doctor's era, they've been pushed aside in favour of the Dalek Parliament, which they only have a small part in. And the fact that this Parliament was then obliterated over Trenzalore would imply that most, if not all of the Paradigm Daleks have been destroyed, hence why the Dalek Control seen in Series 9 was such a hodgepodge of different units. We might find out more about what happened to the Paradigm in the 'Victory of the Doctor' audio, but that is set before Time of the Doctor from the Doctor's point of view so I'm not holding out much hope. It seems as far as the lore is concerned the Paradigm Daleks are gone for good, and the fact that the BBC disposed of the remaining Paradigm props would seem to support that notion. But then again, this is Doctor Who after all, there's always a small chance that the Paradigm Daleks could return. We got Mondasian Cybermen back 50 years after they first appeared, so maybe in 2060 we'll see a Paradigm comeback, we can only hope

I'm not sure if this is rumour or not, but as I understand it when the script for this episode was written Moffat assumed that there would be room in the budget for new costumes - an update to the Cyberman design (removing the Cybus connection), new costumes for Draconians and other races, etc. However, when it came to the actual filming, they had to raid the BBC costumes department and just go with whatever they could find. Hence why there's some weird inclusions to the Alliance like the Hoix and the Pilot Fish

@@MrHighlifewest by the time Series 6 came around, the Cybus Cyberman costumes had been altered to remove the 'C' from their chest, replacing it with a simple circle design, which apparently indicates that those Cybermen are native to the Doctor's universe. Neil Gaiman (who wrote Nightmare in Silver) was asked about this and theorised that the '80s Cybermen and the last remnants of the Cybus Cybermen encountered each other at some point, and the '80s Cybermen assimilated the Cybus design to create a Warrior-class Cyberman, which would later evolve into the Series 7 version (and, presumably, the Cyber-Warriors from the Chibnall era). So although they look like Cybus, the Cybermen from Good Man Goes to War, Closing Time and Nightmare in Silver are native to the Doctor's universe, technically the last appearance of 'true' Cybus Cybermen was in The Pandorica Opens, and even that only happened because they didn't update the costumes in time
