Daniel Defense MK12
bit.ly/3h1WcNj
In 1999 the US Military wanted a Rifle that could shoot as fast as an M4 or M16 but had the M24 bolt action rifle's long-range capability while being lightweight and maneuverable.
In Short, they wanted the Jesus rifle. Instead, what they got was the MK12.
I love the way this rifle feels and handles. If I had to describe it in one word, it would be "EASY" everything feels easy on this rifle.
Where I truly fall in love with this rifle is in how it shoots. Good lord, I love the way this rifle shoots because it's so easy to shoot. Like the "True Mk12," the Daniel Defense MK 12 has a Rifle length direct impingement gas system which, to be honest, will make most rifles a soft shooting rifle, and this Mk12 is no exception.
I can shoot this rifle all day and not fatigue. But it's more than just how soft it shoots.
It also comes with the Geissele SSA 2-Stage trigger, which is freaking phenomenal because it's just as good at shooting fast as it is shooting slow and accurately.
It's a two-stage trigger with a single-stage personality.
When I want to go fast, it lets me go fast. When I want to go slow, it allows me to go slow, and I love it. However, what I don't love very much is the charging handle. I can live without this charging handle. It's not bad; I don't prefer it. I like a charging handle with a bigger profile and wings that are ambidextrous.
My Daniel Defense Mk12 Is not a rifle I show off when I have friends come over. It's a rifle I appreciate the most when it's just me and the rifle out on the range or a piece of property.
I shoot this rifle way more than I did before, and the more I shoot it, the more I love it.
However, It usually doesn't hit me how much I love this rifle until I'm finished shooting and I'm packing up for the day.
I'll look over and see it lying there, and I'll think, man, I really love that rifle, and then another voice will say, "Yeah, you like it now, but you neglected it at first, so you don't deserve it."

Kudos to Daniel Defense for putting together a rifle like that "at the time"... Upon its Inception rifles with that much versatility options weren't really a thing; But now with how much third-party support there is for the AR platform you could pretty much get yourself a mk 12 equivalent pretty easily. You're basically paying for their name and reputation, which is alright, this is a capitalist country.. I hope, still.

I’m headed from Chicago to Phoenix and the thought crossed my mind as my CCL transfers from IL to AZ. My lack of experience in travel gets me nervous so I’m opting not to bring it. I think it would be a great idea for a video. Start with what you utilize as a case and go into the logistics and protocol from when you notify the airport to when you have security check your case and what not. I would be really interested in hearing your thoughts and how to properly do this. Thank you if you do it I know so many people would benefit from your video.

Honestly, Ive shot many triggers. And for the price and hype, Geissele is garbage. Larue has a better two stage trigger all day long and the Timney 3.5 lb skeletonized trigger makes geissele their bitch. The people who chase geissele are the same who chase Jordans, not caring about the fact that they are cheap garbage made in a sweat shop. But since there is a check, people worship that shit. BTW I have all three for reference.

@Tap-Rack-Stack Studios “That’s like your opinion man.” What exactly makes Geissele poor triggers to you? Also which Geissele and Timney triggers do you own? Geissele makes some stupid stuff as they’ve expanded their line but the triggers and rails are still great. I have an SSA, SSA-E, and the SD-3G and two Larue 2 Stage triggers. I used to own a Timney until it broke. I don’t get where you come up with that they are made in a sweat shop. The Larue for the money is good trigger. Timney triggers have nothing on either of them and don’t have anything resembling the reliability of Geissele and Larue. Cassette triggers are garbage. There is a reason why SF units run Geissele when they could choose any trigger that passes the muster.
@Aphabet21
@Aphabet21 3 жыл бұрын
@@nastystang113 I have, like I said, the Timney 3.5 lb skeletonized trigger, I have the Geissele single stage “hybrid” trigger, which was their poor attempt to compete with Timney and failed horribly. Like they poured kitty litter into the trigger and let it have so much over travel and creep, I thought it was just a lighter milspec trigger. Built many rifles with SSA-E and did the Pepsi challenge between the SSA-E and the Larue MBT-2s. The Geissele, was grittier, not a clean second stage break, too much over travel and the trigger shoe was too narrow, which dug into my finger after extended shooting sessions. Did the greasing and everything. I see no reason to spend nearly $300 for a trigger that shoots worse that an $87 trigger. Both tool steel and comes with heavy and light springs. So why pay more for worse? Only the fanbois would pay more for less. Like Nike

I built a Frankenstein Mk12, and, $2500 later... yes, it shoots incredibly well, is one of the more real "do-all" AR's out there. But the key that some may overlook isn't just the gun, it's the ammo. 55 gr or 62 gr doesn't deserve it. If you want longer range and the best accuracy, 75 gr BTHP or 77 gr OTM is where it's at with this gun. Those rounds stay supersonic over 300 yards farther than 55 gr, and groups, especially in wind, will be much better.

the red dot isn't a back up, it's for distances that the scope is not suited for (i.e., close). The irons are a back up to the red dot, though they could also serve the same for the scope. It's not uncommon to do.

LOL... I've never heard of backup Iron Sights? Of course that is what I shot with. Glass is a luxury imo. If u cannot shoot on iron sights... ur setting urself up for failure. If ur battery dies or you break ur optical on a mission... but still have bad guys to deal with... kinda fucked. JS 🤷‍♂️

The newest version that I got in 2019 has a grip and rip charging handle (dual levers so you can pull either hand) and ambidextrous safety. I agree with it being a well balanced rifle. My geissele super duty rifle feels heavier at times even though it has a mlok rail. The only thing that would make this rifle even more perfect would be for Daniel Defense to offer the same factory colors that they offer for instance in their v7 rifle.

Love the MK12. I made my own bastardized version with a 18” BCM upper/lower, old school fixed A2 stock. Geisslee SSAE trigger, Harris bipod, and PA 3-16 scope with DMR reticle. It’s probably favorite rifle to take to the 300 yard range. I get consistent 1 MOA with IMI 77gr match ammo which is good for me.

I have a safe full of PSA rifles that all have Geisssele, CMC, or Velocity triggers. Some hammer forged barrels, some not, most with Leupold glass, some nickel boron coated BCG’s , all with Magpul furniture and Mlok hand guards and all with adjustable gas blocks. All shoot sub 1.5 MOA and most are sub 1 MOA. I have these in three calibers, 5.56, .308, and 6.5 Grendel. I shoot at least 3 times a month and will send anywhere from 4 to 6,000 rounds down range every year. I have replaced gas rings in one of these but have never had a stoppage. Tell me again why I should sell three of them to get a DD??? What’s the difference between a porcupine and a Porsche? The porcupines prick is on the outside.

Yeah, I mean, I have a Toyota Corolla. Why the hell would I want a Lamborghini!?! It's a car! All that matters is that it gets me from point A to point B. Sarcasm, in case you missed it. The better analogy would be a Toyota Corolla and a nice truck. If you only ever drive on paved roads and never need to haul anything, then yes, a Corolla would be a more economic option. If you actually need to do work in your vehicle, you'll be happy to have the nice truck. That being said, if you can't tell the difference between a $700 AR and a $2100 AR, you don't shoot enough to need the $2100 AR.
@franke.3098
@franke.3098 3 жыл бұрын
@@theodorehunter4765 LOL... well, a Lamborghini goes from 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds? The Corolla does it in 8.8 seconds. Girls are attracted to Lamborghini's ... i cannot remember ever hearing a chick say "oh my God, is that a Corolla? What are you doing tonight?" Bad comparison LOL... it sends rounds downrange... if the twist is good & it's reliable, then you're paying over $1200 more for a name only. It's you're $$$ and yet for frugal folks... would you rather have an 2k$ AR or a AR with 2000 rounds for the same price? Or two AR with rounds Or one Ar + optics + ammo for the same price. That's your choice. I was drawing distinctions... Now... you show me where this barrel outlasts an FN barrel (which I put tens of thousands of rounds through as a SAW gunner & so can vouch for) or DD makes the shooter somehow shoot better then i will listen. We both know... EVERY shooter knows... the brand of gun doesn't make the shooter, the shooter makes the gun. Now there are shitty brands... however I'm referring to middle of the road like PSA or Aero, ect ... 600 to 900$ range. Good materials and good quality and a much more affordable price... then u have more ammo to actually get ypu trigger time. That's what matters... putting steel on target. Like i said before. Thanks for the banter! LOL... have a good Weekend sir.

I have .224 Valkyrie AR’s that are much more accurate but it’s like I’m cheating.
