Ive been in PH for 6 weeks from Januari till march.. I haven't met 1 person there who even knew where Netherlands was ( except some seamen) Mostly Filipinos are not very interested and aware what's happening outside PH.. I must admit they were the MOST friendly people i've ever met especially in Antique province

Sea = salt water, lake = sweet water, saltwater is bad for growing potatoes etc so we try to keep the saltwater out.

It's just a name. The Dutch "seas" are so shallow you can walk across them. Here in the West of Ireland the sea becomes a kilometer deep just a few metres from the shore. Even the Dutch couldn't build a Dyke when the sea is a Kilometre deep.

It is shallow, but deeper than 2 meters over there. I think the ijsselmeer is on average 6 meters deep. It is possible to build a dyke a kilometer deep. But the cost would be prohibitive. Remember there is a ratio between heighth and width. So, if a dyke of 1 km is needed, don't do it. Choose your battles.

Don't confuse the Waddenzee with the Zuiderzee, that sea , the ZUIDERZEE, was up too 5 meters deep, the Waddenzee has mud flats so they are above water partly at low tide, and up to 5 meters below water at high tide, and open to the Northsea and its storms, the waddenzee has strong currents and is a dangerous sea, you run aground easily etc.. The openings between the islands are very dangeous, deep and have strong currents, ( the Vlie for example).

I can't stand this guys English. It is called the Suyder Sea in English, not Southern Sea. (Sorry but that crap happens when someone assumes to speak more than one language, and than uses literal translations of words, instead of actually translating things properly. [Being a translator and polyglot, this is very disturbing to me]).
