I bought a set of CLI-42 carts from Rick Johnson on eBay. Very satisfied with the carts he sent.They came cleaned, prepared with the small rubber seals and. clips. I have now filled them with PC inks and am ready for the first low ink alert to pop. Regularly monitoring the carts, still more than half full. Once the original OEM carts come out, will be following your very clear instructions and prepare/reset them, and fill with PC ink. Thanks for the valuable tips.

I don't use Canon Printers, and I always spend the money on the Epson Inks. I like checking in on your channel, I always seem to learn something about printing in general. Thumbs Up.

Thank you so much! Good thing I search first before I do flushing... I often do flushing before.. Last time I flushed my canon cartridge, my printer did not work anymore.. So I bought new one...
@cheo19494 жыл бұрын
If you use good matching inks, you do not have to flush your cartridges. The only one you need to flush is the yellow original cartridge for the pro-100 printer..

Jose, another great video. I have been watching many of your videos lately and they have been extremely helpful. I bought myself a canon pro 10 and two sets of OEM cartridges as you recommended. I am looking at third party inks and am torn between PC inks and inkowl. I know you have had great experiences with PC inks but have you had any experience with inkowl for canon printers?
@cheo19496 жыл бұрын
Not for the Pro-10. Only for the EPSON P800. PC uses a very well match inkset to begin with and to make even better they supply you with OEN Red ink to bring it to the top of any other ink set out there. Please watch My Signature Edition PRO-10 Test videos for all the results and full comparisons between OEM and this ink set.

Jose, I plan to refill my Pro-100 cartridges and I really appreciate all the work you put into your many KZbin videos - I've watched several. I've saved my empty OEM cartridges and they've been lying around for quite some time, so I assume that I need to flush them. Do you have a video on how to do that? I haven't been able to find it.

Hi Jose, I’ve got a Pixma Pro 10 - I accidentally refilled the M ink into the PM cartridge and vice versa. So, unfortunately I do need to flush them. I can’t find a video from you on the best way to flush a PGI 72 cartridge. Please help. Thank you

Nothing Earth shattering as it is already nearly perfect. A different Black and Yellow to increase longevity a bit more.

Jose. I am confused. You said cli 42 cartridges is not required to flushing, but you have other videos showing how to flush cli 42 cartridges. So when you have or not to flush I?
@cheo19495 жыл бұрын
Flushing cli-42 cartridges should only be done if the cartridges are dried such as the ones you buy from eBay. If they are your very own cartridges that you are modifying for refilling then there is no need to flush them.

Hello! I have received my refill kit from PC, excited to get started. I only have one set of OEM carts, the ones currently installed in my printer. Unfortunately I let one cart go empty... there is no ink in the liquid reservoir and it has been that way a couple of weeks. Do you think it is so dried out now that I should flush it before refilling? Thanks for your help!!
@cheo19495 жыл бұрын
It will be fine this one time around. But from now on reset and top off at low or a bit before.

Some problems with plugs not sealing may be due to the sizes of various plugs available. Octoink.uk doesn't require drilling, their plugs appear to be a smaller diameter. Those from precisioncolors.com require the ball seat hole to be opened to 5/32". I found out the hard way, don't intermix the plug sizes. If all else fails, just tape with alum. tape pressed well around the fill hole.

I use my old plugs from refillable Canon carts which very soon I found out I should not be using! They fit perfectly.

Have you ever order from premium ink big cartel? The site only have 1 product for canon pro series. The price looks good but I am worrying if it’s not a scam.
@cheo19496 жыл бұрын
Of course! Do you think I would post a link to a scam? Precisioncolors currently gets ALL their OEM inks for the PRO-1000 from then as do I. I personally asked the owner to set up a special web site only available to only my viewers.
@TrongNguyen-wj9dx6 жыл бұрын
Jose Rodriguez thanks for you reply. I have a canon pro4000s. The link you refer to that premiuminks.bigcartel.com/products sell 700ml for 229$. The precision color web site only sell a 82ml for 35$usd. Here in Canada canon sell the 700ml for 400$can. It’s almost the same price for the same volume. Is big cartel a better deal?

I would always flush new carts when changing from OEM ink to another ink. then make profiles with pure ink and not contaminated inks not knowing when you have pure ink. also, not everyone has pcinks
@cheo19496 жыл бұрын
And that is why I specifically mentioned PC inks. If it is not a well matched ink set then you have no other option but to flush. The problem is that this is being attempted by not so experienced folks and they end up making things worse than they have to be. On the PRO-100 and PRO-10 I can go between OEM and PC inks back and forth ( I have separate sets of each ) and all it takes is a quick ink purge to clean out the print head channels of any previous inks. But I realize we are talking CARTs here, and that is why they took ( PC ) over 8 straight months of constant tweaking to bring that inkset to an almost 98% seamless transition from OEM to PC and now they will even sell you ALL OEM loads for refilling the PRO-1000. Only the very pickiest would need to re profile. It's all a matter of choice and for most except maybe us, they really do not have to worry about flushing PRO-100 carts prior to switching. Switch to some unproven inkset and yes you better start with a Modified and Flushed set from EBAY and you can then profile.

This may be off topic. If I replace Canon PGI250XL pigment cart with a Precision Colors cart filled with their PhotoBlack dye ink, how much black pigment ink would still be in the print head? Should I flush the Print Head of pigment ink first? Or will the Black Dye ink just gradually replace the pigment?
@cheo19496 жыл бұрын
I know nothing about this printer model. I only work with pro photo models. But if you just run once cleaning cycle it should push out all the previous ink.

Why does the chip for the CLI42-Y need to be swapped?
@cheo19494 жыл бұрын
Because the chip you get with the Refill Kit from PC comes with the pre flushed CLI_8 cart and not a CLI-42 Yellow cart. The cart bodies are identical and can be used on the pro-100 but it will not be recognized unless you have the correct chip on it.

Light grey. CLI-42.. ordered one on Amazon... a $16 error... oh well! Live and learn... the rest all seemed to work great though removing that ball was a bit hard on some of them. The plastic ball seems a lot harder than the ones I used to pull on the bci's I used to fill back in the day!

Hi, I´m thinking on switching to a refillable cartridges system for my large format printer, a canon ipf770 (wich works with 5 inks, C M Y and BK dye based ink, and one BK pigment based ink) from this seller: www.ocbink.com/ My question is, should I go with 100% pigment based ink on the 5 colors, for better durability on the printing jobs (as the seller recommends), or stay with a 4 dye - 1 pigment mixed configuration as the original?
@cheo19496 жыл бұрын
As long as the nozzles on the channels that are supposed to use dye Ink can handle third party pigment inks. You have no c!he now big or small those pigment particles are or... their size uniformity. So I would think carefully about that since Canon print heads are very delicate. Had it been and Epson i would not care. But if I put pigment inks in my PRO 100 it would not last 3 minutes worth of use.
@alberdi551ploteos66 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your kind answer, José. I will check up those ink specs.
