I called this 20 years ago when these cars came out. I said, "The Acura Integra will become the 1957 Chevy of the future". In the 90's, you couldn't get a '57 Chevy for less than $50K it seemed, they go for even more now. The ITR, is on a different level. I own both a GSR and ITR that are generally stock. The difference between the 2 cars is stark. The GSR is great, but the ITR is an experience you simply don't forget. In my view, it's one of the best cars Japan ever produced. I don't think we'll ever seen anything like it again, hence the reason they are so expensive now. Nice video BTW.

Well, I have tried to buy one a few times but it never worked out. Either too many collisions or stripped and rebuilt. Just too rough. I wasn't looking for perfect, just decent. Now I am not willing to pay the current prices. Congrats on the ITR, you had to be in the right place at the right time to get one.

Everything from the engine noise, to the clean and surprisingly comfortable interior, his descriptions are spot on. These things (and the GSRs) were a joy to drive when they were new. My buddy had a GSR in HS and it was awesome. Tons of fun Japanese cars in the 90s. In terms of price… let me put it this way - if you want a modern car that is naturally aspirated, revs to 9k and comes with a manual, your only choice is a 911 GT3. Cars like the type R, the S2000, and the E46m3 gives you some of the same feel and joy and similar driving experience at lower performance envelop and far lower cost. And that is why all of those cars I’ve mentioned have shot up in value

We had a couple younger guys in our club that had these Acura's and the Honda civics. I wish now that I had invested in some of the amazing cars coming from japan at the time. I had the pleasure of owning a 1999 ITR DC2 here in Melbourne (Australia).... in which I clocked up 165,000 kms (from new) & enjoyed 13 track days, during my 5.5 years of driving nirvana. I was utterly addicted to the VTEC scream of the B18C engine, the wonderfully slick gearbox, dynamic handling & complete package of Honda engineering. As much as I wanted to keep the Integra it rusted out like Swiss cheese and things were starting to fail. I owned the car for 7 years and was the second owner of it. I have a pretty mint integra ls and it gets compliments everywhere I go, just because it’s in such good condition by the year, I’m happy people are starting to appreciate the integra now, I would like to own a type r one day but at this rate it’ll be impossible by the time I finish college they will be way to expensive.

I feel like any limited production car has the potential to be a collector car. These cars are amazing for the driving experience as well. I had a 2000 PY and loved it.

I mean it’s been a collector car for quite a while now. Until now it’s the only Type R to come to the states. With the 97 being the most desirable. Most people brought over the JDM versions but aside from the Type RX none are more desirable than the USDM. Also I’ve always personally found the USDM front to be way better looking. It’s kinda like the S13 where I’ll take the pop ups all day but give me that Type X front bumper. I had a 96 Type R swapped into an EJ1 chassis in the early 00’s and the few who knew what was under my hood always geeked out over it because at the time it wasn’t a common swap and pretty expensive. I just happened to get a great deal from a close friend.

As a dc2R owner & driver I thought I'd share this with peeple to see if its just mine or can other owners do this with their Integra Type R? Mine is stock - no mods MY'01. One day i was on KZbin watching a dc2r review from I think it was - 'Chicago Cars Direct' when the guy mentioned that manual Hondas have a "friction point" as well as a "take-off point" in their clutch travel. So one day as i pulled away from a green light i did the following, 1) pushed clutch all the way down, 2) pulled 1st into 2nd gear, at about 4000rpm (no need to hit vtec or redline), 3) let the clutch out about 1/4 of the way, 4) tapped the throttle all the way down (very quickly) before releasing, 5) then let the clutch up to about 1/2 way, 6) pushed the throttle pedal all the way down this time and kept it down. I got an unbelievable rush of power that pushed me so hard into my recaro seats, it felt like they were gonna break. It was just an AMAZING rush of power i would say 10X more powerful than what u get from vtec. In fact compared to vtec, it makes vtec seem like nothing at all! I dont know if the engineers intended it to do this but i do know it works & its UNBELIEVABLE!!! Sadly, I've only managed to do it a handful of times (it's hard to do just right) Try this with your dc2R, & then tell me if u experience the same? If so, it's time to let the secret out guys!

I have a 90 da9 with a b18 and a close-ratio 5 speed from the factory... I can still outrun most contemporary challengers. It takes a lot of car to beat it and it surprises me constantly Redline starts at 6500 Top speed on the gauge is 140 and it will
