It's a vehicle I certainly want to own. Would like to see you cover Honda's 3.5 L J35Y2 V6 petrol engine that got discontinued in 2017. 278 hp (207 kW) at 6,200 rpm & 252 lb⋅ft (342 N⋅m) at 5,300 rpm. Curious what your take & stance is on it be it stock or one that is modified.

I called this 20 years ago when these cars came out. I said, "The Acura Integra will become the 1957 Chevy of the future". In the 90's, you couldn't get a '57 Chevy for less than $50K it seemed, they go for even more now. The ITR, is on a different level. I own both a GSR and ITR that are generally stock. The difference between the 2 cars is stark. The GSR is great, but the ITR is an experience you simply don't forget. In my view, it's one of the best cars Japan ever produced. I don't think we'll ever seen anything like it again, hence the reason they are so expensive now. Nice video BTW.

Well, I have tried to buy one a few times but it never worked out. Either too many collisions or stripped and rebuilt. Just too rough. I wasn't looking for perfect, just decent. Now I am not willing to pay the current prices. Congrats on the ITR, you had to be in the right place at the right time to get one.

I just brought a JDM imported 1994 Honda Prelude Si from Pennsylvania back to my home state of Wisconsin recently and this video perfectly describes what driving a nearly stock Honda from their golden era is like. Everything from the engine noise, to the clean and surprisingly comfortable interior, his descriptions are spot on. Never would I have thought that I’d learn manual on a right hand drive Honda classic that I bought and own at 19 years old halfway across the country. This brought a smile to my face and my lude will continue to keep it there!

These things (and the GSRs) were a joy to drive when they were new. My buddy had a GSR in HS and it was awesome. Tons of fun Japanese cars in the 90s. In terms of price… let me put it this way - if you want a modern car that is naturally aspirated, revs to 9k and comes with a manual, your only choice is a 911 GT3. Cars like the type R, the S2000, and the E46m3 gives you some of the same feel and joy and similar driving experience at lower performance envelop and far lower cost. And that is why all of those cars I’ve mentioned have shot up in value

I was 16 is 1988; I was a car nut then and still am today. You brought me back to the late 90's, when Mini-Truckin' was in, and large late model domestics we bouncing on hydro's. We had a couple younger guys in our club that had these Acura's and the Honda civics. I wish now that I had invested in some of the amazing cars coming from japan at the time. But, know one thought that they would make such a huge resurgence today. The coolest part is cruising now looks almost the same as it did back then because these are on the scene. I like that car bone stock. Super cool.

I had the pleasure of owning a 1999 ITR DC2 here in Melbourne (Australia).... in which I clocked up 165,000 kms (from new) & enjoyed 13 track days, during my 5.5 years of driving nirvana. I was utterly addicted to the VTEC scream of the B18C engine, the wonderfully slick gearbox, dynamic handling & complete package of Honda engineering. Even 17 years on & after driving many higher spec cars, the memories of the DC2 remain as some of my best driving experiences ==> I would buy another one anytime!

Can confirm the Integra VTEC smoothness. Even with 375,000 miles on my GSR’s original engine, it still pulls so smooth to 8,200 rpm. It feels way, way smoother at high RPM than my 2000 Miata does.

Owned an 01 Integra special edition up until last November when I traded it in for a Mk7.5 GTI and I gotta say it’s crazy how a car 20 years old is just as fun as a modern day hot-hatch. As much as I wanted to keep the Integra it rusted out like Swiss cheese and things were starting to fail. I owned the car for 7 years and was the second owner of it. Had some really good times in that car. Nothing feels or sounds like it to this day even my GTI but it’s close enough. If you have an Integra or experienced one consider yourself one of the lucky few. Awesome video!

It's got a full 98 Spec JDM ITR swap that is completely stock other than the typical I/H/E tuned on an AEM V2 standalone and later revision OEM LMA's. It's had the engine for 6 years now and I haven't felt the need to modify it because it's just so incredibly fun in stock form, you REALLY don't need to modify this engine. Use to cruze at 130 mph on the autobahn, and have Audi RS6 avants pass me with kids waving in the back. It would hold it's own on the back roads of Germany. My daughter recently got a new BRZ. I drove a white one new while in College at a local dealership in 96. I was in love. I almost bought a new yellow one that was marked up over list but they said I could have it for list. I was studying college in Newark NJ so I wasn’t getting a type R. My buddy had a civic ex and a first gen si both stolen. I got a 2000 celica gt-s and Parked it where I knew it was safe including driving under the crossbar making it move up and then parking in the administrators lot. Never got a ticket if I parked after hours and car was safe there.

type r.. over priced, yes, but.. if you can afford it, totally worth it. i base a cars value on smiles per mile. any integra will produce more smiles than dollars spent and that is a great buy in my book. shame so many just got junked over minor issues.

I have owned 2000 civic coupe 2008 tsx 2008 mustang gt500 and I currently have a 2017 mustang gt and 95 delsol. I love 90s Hondas they are so much fun I like mustangs. All the hate about hondas are from people who never drove one or just to weak to hear hate from other people. I'm gonna say #respectallbuilds just because you wouldn't put a certain type of exhaust on your car or because you wouldn't drop your car to the ground doesn't make you no better than the person who has. Their build is not your. We all build our cars the way we want them. Everyone stay safe, have fun, and much love to you all

I bought that car brand new in 1998. Unfortunately I had to sell it because of life’s difficulties. But I knew exactly what I was getting, and I knew that it was going to be a very iconic car. I’m trying to find another one now.

They did do something to the chassis David. It's seam welded from the factory, plus it's the last Integra with double-wishbone suspension. Neither of which I have in my RSX-S 😢

I had an Integra and then a RSX, both Red and 5 speeds. Loved them both. Great cars. If Acura had still made a two door, I would have bought another. Unfortunately, they didn't, so I bought a 2012 Civic SI. Great car, but I do miss the Acuras.

Honestly, I have not priced them lately. I have always been a fan and came so close to buying one. So regret that now. Anyway, they deserve appreciation. This is not just a GS-R with a hotter engine. They went through and seam-welded the body and made quite a few suspension improvements. And yes, that B-18 C5 is a glorious little piece of Honda engineering for the time.

I have a pretty mint integra ls and it gets compliments everywhere I go, just because it’s in such good condition by the year, I’m happy people are starting to appreciate the integra now, I would like to own a type r one day but at this rate it’ll be impossible by the time I finish college they will be way to expensive.

I mean it’s been a collector car for quite a while now. Until now it’s the only Type R to come to the states. With the 97 being the most desirable. Most people brought over the JDM versions but aside from the Type RX none are more desirable than the USDM. Also I’ve always personally found the USDM front to be way better looking. It’s kinda like the S13 where I’ll take the pop ups all day but give me that Type X front bumper. I had a 96 Type R swapped into an EJ1 chassis in the early 00’s and the few who knew what was under my hood always geeked out over it because at the time it wasn’t a common swap and pretty expensive. I just happened to get a great deal from a close friend.

As a dc2R owner & driver I thought I'd share this with peeple to see if its just mine or can other owners do this with their Integra Type R? Mine is stock - no mods MY'01. One day i was on KZbin watching a dc2r review from I think it was - 'Chicago Cars Direct' when the guy mentioned that manual Hondas have a "friction point" as well as a "take-off point" in their clutch travel. So one day as i pulled away from a green light i did the following, 1) pushed clutch all the way down, 2) pulled 1st into 2nd gear, at about 4000rpm (no need to hit vtec or redline), 3) let the clutch out about 1/4 of the way, 4) tapped the throttle all the way down (very quickly) before releasing, 5) then let the clutch up to about 1/2 way, 6) pushed the throttle pedal all the way down this time and kept it down. I got an unbelievable rush of power that pushed me so hard into my recaro seats, it felt like they were gonna break. It was just an AMAZING rush of power i would say 10X more powerful than what u get from vtec. In fact compared to vtec, it makes vtec seem like nothing at all! I dont know if the engineers intended it to do this but i do know it works & its UNBELIEVABLE!!! Sadly, I've only managed to do it a handful of times (it's hard to do just right) Try this with your dc2R, & then tell me if u experience the same? If so, it's time to let the secret out guys!
