On The Phantom Menace we hear Yoda near the end say Anakin probably is the chosen one and that he sees grave danger in training Anakin. I believe that just like Qui-Gon Jin chose to follow the will of the force, Yoda knew the will of the force involving the end of the Jedi Order, but the rest of the council opposed Yoda and allowed Anakin to be Obi-Wan's padwan. What I like about Qui-Gon is his decision to stand contrary to the Jedi Code and choose the will of the force instead. "Anakin will be a Jedi, I promise him." "Do not defy the council master, not again." "I will do what I must Obi-Wan." "If you would just follow the code you would be on the council, they will not go along with you this time." "You still have much to learn my young apprentice." Qui-Gon was clearly not so in tune with the Jedi Order and more in tune with the will of the force.

I think if Qui-Gon had trained Anakin instead of Obi-Wan, that Anakin wouldn't have went dark side and the order wouldn't have been destroyed as Palpatine wouldn't have been able to corrupt Anakin. I say this bc Obi-Wan was far too young and inexperienced to take on a Padawan learner, he was still basically a child himself. As Qui-Gon said about Obi-Wan when addressing the council "he is headstrong and he still has much to learn of the living force". Obi-Wan may have been ready to take on the trials but he was not ready to take on a Padawan yet. Qui-Gon on the other hand would have been better equipped and able to help Anakin understand and deal with his feelings & the fears he was having. He would've gave Anakin the father figure mentor relationship that was needed to guide him, instead of the brother relationship that he had with Obi-Wan. Brother relationships often turn competitive which will lead to feelings of jealousy and resentment from one brother and that is exactly what happened between the two. Obi-Wan said it himself "We were Brothers", the problem is he didn't need a brother, he needed a father. Which is what Palpatine gave Anakin, he gave him that father figure mentor relationship he needed, in doing so Palpatine was able to gain Anakins trust and was able corrupt him.

Where as the sith are a chaotic use of the force. Their presence is a constant source of rippling energy coursing thoughout the force. So to the jedi balance can only mean the removal of that chaotic source allowing the force to once again reach a tranquil state. They didn't see it coming because they trained their whole lives too get balance, but failed to realize that they were out of their depths. The fact that the Jedi take very young children to train has Jedi is damning. And of course these children are forever cut off from their families and trained to just not care about them is damning. When Yoda, among others whines that Anakin is too old to start training they are admiting that they want them young so they can more or less brainwash them. Further Yoda's justification for not training Anakin is that a 9 year old kid seperated from his mother who is a slave is full of fear for himself and his mother is a path to the darkside is just WTF. It would be perfectly normal for a kid under the circumstances to be fearful. Yoda's inane comment amounts to it is bad for a kid to be afraid for his mother under the circumstances. All of the shit about suffering and pain that is also there in Yoda's idiocies is so much crap. What all this indicates is that the Jedi order wants recruits who have not bonded with their parents and who show sociopathic indifference to personal suffering and likely other peoples suffering. The Jedi's apparent indifference to the creation of a Clone Army is also quite revealing. The creation of what amounts to a sentient "race" of disposable slave soldiers doesn't seem to bother them.

It's always been complicated because of two reasons: First, the Jedi and the Sith were both very wrong in their fundamental understanding of the force, its influence and its nature. The Jedi wanted to treat it like flowing water, not disturbing its natural directions and only using it in a subtle way. (To keep the image up, let's say they only drank from that flowing water, maybe took a few cups to savor.) While the Sith treated it like something that needed to be controlled and directed. (For example, building a dam, and then using the powers of the amassed water to flow a neighboured city). This is why the Sith have always been stronger than the Jedi, at least the Lords and the very trained Sith Warriors. Their understanding of the force was much more suited for warfare and conquest, so Jedi were naturally weaker and naive. This was especially shown in the old republic, if we were to read Revan's story and go beyond it. Because this shows us the biggest flaw of the Sith, which caused them to lose to the Jedi despite being stronger: They were arrogant and selfish, even when formed together in an Empire, they sought to overhtrow their superiors and one another. If the Sith had the same dogmatic way of staying together as the Jedi did, they would have ruled over the Galaxy forever. So while this all is true, the major reason why the Jedi suck fucking ass is because they treat the force in a wrong way, thus making it hard to actually keep peace and harmony. Second reason is the Jedi order has always been problematic in its organization. While the older Jedi Orders were pretty much fine, the new one in the Film-Era was just a major fuckup. Even if their goals were goodhearted, their way of handling things was so bad that it made no sense to actually trust them.

I feel that there was a lot of misunderstanding when it came to the prophecy of the Chosen One. As best I can tell it only says that one would arise to return balance to the Force. There is never a mention that the Jedi would survive the rebalancing unscathed. Their hubris made them think that this meant the destruction of the Sith alone. However, since they had already fallen so far themselves, what actually had to happen was the destruction of both the Sith AND the Jedi as the galaxy knew them. By the end of Return of the Jedi, only one member of the old order, that we know of, survives and I firmly believe that it was because she had denounced the path the Jedi were on. Even Luke admits to making mistakes in his attempt to rebuild the order and that it was time for their old ways to die. In the end, Anakin did return balance to the Force by destroying both the Jedi, through Order 66, and the Sith, by throwing Palpatine over the Throne Room railing. This gave the Force time to heal and balance naturally since the number of Force users had diminished significantly.

This is a very good point - and picked up in other fantasy works (King Arthur, Tolkien etc) where the age of magic is waning. It would have made a very good basis for further films as we see the last magic/force users try to set the world/galaxy on a stable, sustainable path. If all the original books get filmed, Dune will cover this ground. Once could say that as a civilization, humanity today faces the same issues of balancing technological 'superpowers' with social and ecological pressures to find a middle way that avoids destruction.

Another major crime that the Jedi have committed is using the clones as slaves without giving them the choice to choose. I know the Republic paid the Kaminoans to create them and that the clones were obliged to serve the Republic, but that doesn't mean they have no in choosing their path in life. In the end, the clones became nothing but slaves of the Republic and went through a huge amount of pain and suffering serving under the Jedi. The Republic may outlaw slavery all across the galaxy at the time, but they sure as shit didn't outlaw slavery within their own and the Jedi didn't even considered what the clones were going through or what they actually wanted. All they see is that the clones were nothing but "properties belonging to the republic" (-Shaak Ti) and that they have to serve them loyally. Sounds exactly like the Empire to me. The Clone Wars era Jedi had flaws, but the fact that they can just close their heart to the clones' casualties and being exploited by the Republic really made me lose any sympathy for them when they were all killed during Order 66. At least the Empire back then used soldiers who voluntarily signed up, the clones on the hand were bred purely for war without a choice.

The way I see it, the Jedi dogma during the time of the Republic was every bit as destructive as the Sith dogma, if not more so. I think that part of the reason why it became so easy for Jedi to fall was because they had no idea how to actually control their emotions. Instead, they basically shoved it all to one side and ignored it, leaving all their negative emotions to boil and fester like a poison. Then, when something happened to push them over the edge, they couldnt control the resulting surge of power and emotion and ended up getting addicted to it.

Most fallen Jedi who fell to the Dark side did so because they lost the one attachment that was unavoidable- their Masters or former/current Padawans.
@smartalec200111 ай бұрын
@@eugenewang4650 that doesn't seem right... the few bits of media we see involving young Jedi trainees sees them being tested through experiences of frustration, despair, anger etc. In old canon, one of the final tests for a Jedi padawan was to deal with great loss. It seems fair to say that the Jedi knew exactly what they were up against. Even the adult Jedi show sadness, anger, and more, alongside happiness and humour. Yoda even jokes along with his youngling class. It's clear they know what emotions are, and how to deal with them - training how to have them, experience them, and then to let them go.

This is why I don’t like the Jedi. Their code was so rigid and dogmatic, they cut themselves off from the galaxy they swore to protect. There’s also their arrogance. This is why so many Jedi like Exar Kun, Freetan Nod, Darth Ruin, Atris, and so many others fell to the dark side, they were so full of pride and so holier than thou, that if anyone questioned them, they would lose it and abandon the order and embrace the dark side.

In a more practical galaxy, maybe they could’ve saved themselves from order 66 if they actually looked into the Sifo Diyas situation, which then could’ve led to them further investigating the inhibitor chip (or just outright refusing to take the clone army); but I also believe Sidious would’ve had a “plan B” in regards to exactly how he would’ve killed off the Jedi… yet, say they did catch on to everything, the fact the vast majority of Jedi were cut down in Geonosis, they still wouldn’t have a leg to stand on in the ensuing battles. It’s a lot to think about lol

The Republic had absolutely no chance in this war without Palpatine's 'matchfixing'. Cheap mass production of billions, most likely trillions of droids far outweighs the few million clone troopers if the Separatists and Republic were acting independently. If the inhibitor chip failed then the Separatists would win putting Dooku as the puppet leader thus accomplishing Palpatine's goal of the Sith ruling the galaxy once more. A propaganda campaign showing the atrocities of the Jedi during the war would turn them into pariahs thus making their extinctio inevitable but with droids instead of clones killing them off

They say that at least we pay you for the stuff. And bane corrects again saying that he owes the mine company money for living within the mine since a child. So he's in debt by the mine company. This is an example of a postmodern interpretation of two clashing forces. Being committed to a binary definition of morality (a belief in 'moral' vs. 'immoral') is not as pure as being 'amoral', which doesn't believe that anything is 'moral' or 'moral', only 'gray'; thus, this means by definition that the Jedi are capable of hypocrisy, but not the Sith. The Jedi will display remorse for when they engage in corruption; the Sith will commit genocide and the people who do these 'religious' Star Wars videos will attempt to justify their actions by pointing out the Jedi's corruption and atrocities in specific instances that may not have been standard practices among their ranks, and which the Sith do purposely. One can be committed to 'good' and thus seek to be 'moral' without being utterly without redeeming qualities at their flaws; the Jedi after Order 66, at least those who survived, were incredibly reflective on where they went wrong. But the Sith do not operate in this way: they accuse 'moral' Jedi of the things that they do without conscience because they know that that the Jedi will be paralyzed by failing to fully live up to their own standards. Meanwhile, the Sith not only engage in the atrocities that they do, they do it for the sake of power itself, and make no apologies in anything they do.

Bingo! Someone here gets it. This is a postmodern/Progressive corruption of our ancient universal values.... and this is a sign of how messed up and twisted people, in the real world, are becoming in our modern era. This way of thinking is being applied to all our ancient legends and stories as well. Such as the Greek Myths. Where the villains are now just classified as "victims" of their circumstances, and are therefore relieved of any accountability. Meanwhile the Heroes are being demonized. The issue with the Jedi of the last Jedi Order, during the clone wars era, was that they became arrogant, soft, and apathetic. You can see this in on Obi Wan acts in TPM, ccontrasted with Qui Gon, who was an outlier and "rogue" like among the Jedi. Obi Wan is really arrogant and unfeeling in TPM, "Another pathetic life form" for example. The Jedi became quite socipathic in their late stages. Whereas Jedi like Qui Gon and Dooku actually felt real emotions and empathy. There were some that did feel legit feelings, like Obi Wan during the later stages of the clone wars, and how he did love Anakin. Love. Not just liking him as a fellow Jedi or former apprentice, but LOVED Anakin, like a brother/son. Real emotions. And then there's Anakin Skywalker who was VERY emotional and had an infinite ability to love and.... Hate. But yeah, Luke's New Jedi Order got it right methinks. Luke allowed his Jedi Knights to feel emotions and have love, both familial love and romantic love. Luke felt that love made Jedi Knights stronger and more stalwart. So yeah.

In the 80s and 90s I use like the idea of the Jedi, religious individuals that had telekinetic powers and who only occasionally fought others, primarily to preserve peace and general tranquility across the galaxy. I'm a big fan of the Star Wars films and books, but the ideas within them are simply untenable and frequently don't make sense, particularly about the Jedi. Here are some reasons why I don't find the Jedi as appealing as I use to two decades ago. The movies have turned the Jedi into violent Taliban-like warriors, who take orders and dont question them, and who play tricks on people and use violence regularly. I have to admit, I'm much less of a fan today. Seems like a secular law enforcement agency in the galaxy would do a better job than the Jedi would. Furthermore, too many Jedis abuse their powers in these films and books, which renders it an organization of potential and incredible corruption. As a law enforcement idea, it fails, which I think explains the falling appeal. The Jedis are good guys until they're not. That sort of thing. Another turn off is that the "Force is about balance", which conflicts with the central idea behind many religions. Many religions push the idea that Good must win over evil. Evil must die so that good can eventually prevail. Since Star Wars pushes a dogma that balance between the light side and dark side is necessary, it's going to turn off a lot of viewers, which see that as annoying friction. In a galaxy where the balance between the light side and the dark side is necessary, what gets solved? Absolutely nothing. The Jedi are forever stuck in a conflict loop then. They sacrifice themselves to let the dark side have a place in the galaxy. Makes zero sense. To be fair, Star Wars films and books should be exclusively regarded as escapist films and literature. The ideas they push are untenable in real life, however, and they're seriously inconsistent and ultimately solve nothing in the Star Wars universe.

Its a troubling thing. For a republic to function, all related aspects of that republic must function according to the will of the republic. Any group inside that republic that operates with its own governance and with a significant military capacity is a threat to that republic. Thus, the jedi had a choice: Continue to funtion independently and probably at odds with the republic, and keeping such ENORMOUS power and influence, or submit for democracy's sake to the will of the republic. To be in a republic, you must submit to its governing forms. And yet over 1000 years the Sith corrupted the governing forms. And they had a POWEFUL means to hide their influence, even right in front of the jedi. What was to be done? The fall of the jedi was inevitable. But then again, that was the will of The Force to bring all within balance again, albeit at the cost of trillions of lives and the existence of entire planets.

It's not dogma, it's a misunderstanding.

Also you have to think about it with all the wise and great masters why didn't anyone feel the dark side of the force in Palpatine at the first feeling of him having too much power wouldn't you think the jedi would take him out?

The Jedi had begun to believe that by simply being lawful, they were doing good. However, when the Sith revealed to them the true potential for lawful evil, they realized that they had not been championing good. Vader was created by the Jedi, more than the Sith. Anikin's turn to the dark side was fueled by their many failures to do the right thing. They took him from his mother after he helped them fix their ship, and they left her behind to die as a slave. They don't want to save her, because his attachment to her would prevent him from becoming an unfeeling child soldier. When the force shows him visions of his mother in danger, they order him to abandon her. When he has similar visions about Padme, they order him to ignore those too. He was forbidden to feel love. From his point of view, the Jedi truly are evil. He could put up with a their indoctrination and bureaucracy because he thought they were the good guys, and when they made an enemy out of him, he knew that every last Jedi would have to be destroyed in order to prevent them from ever doing that to anyone else again.

It's poetic. Their zealous fear of the Dark side led them to abandon their emotions. Which made them no better than the Sith because by the time the Clone Wars rolled around their lack of empathy had led them to viewing their fellow Jedi as tools rather than friends And that, in turn, led to them digging their own graves when a Sith lord blindsided them due to their attachment to a corrupt government and centuries of stagnation You can't really fault Ani for saying the Jedi were evil when their downfall was caused by their complete lack of empathy

I disagree. The Jedi have fought in wars and led armies many times before and was fine after. You even said in this video that the old Republic Jedi wore armor? Buy somehow the clone armor is worse? Kinda dumb logic
@BlazeTube6262 жыл бұрын
the difference was that the sith before and after the prequel era were militaristic and overly agressive and that was the sith the jedi were prepared against. but after darth bane restructured the order be more manipulators and in the shadows, the game was changed. the jedi were basically fighting an enemy that didn't exist in that form anymore. Hell most of the rule of two sith were either politicians like palpatine or bankers like plaguies. the sith basically inflitrated the republic at every level and it happened in plain sight of the jedi. Plaguies was even alive for most of episode one until palpatine killed him after he became supreme chancellor.

@@BlazeTube626 yeah i get that. I don't think you get what I'm saying tho. I'm just saying that the premise of the video is based on flawed logic. The Jedi dawned armor and fought in wars in the past. The order did not collapse. Honestly had the Jedi of the prequel's era actually put on some decent armor, it probably would've been better, considering most of them ended up getting shot in the back. Tython even had force wars. Your comment is more relevant to the collapse of the order than the whole video.

In my opinion the Jedi became terrible when they started taking children and then throwing away the ones that are either unwanted, not strong enough or not smart enough to become Jedi after years of promising children a grand existence of peace keeping only to throw them away to a research lab and easily the most messed up thing they do is not even stay in contact with younglings parents in case they weren’t chosen. They literally kidnap children and then toss them away if they’re either not wanted or not strong enough, I mean obi wan was nearly thrown away by the Jedi.

The Je’daii order was their pinnacle when they became the Jedi they failed themselves and the force and doomed themselves forever. They began down the path of arrogance removing the dark side due to their fear and are forever out of balance of the force. As they did much of the same things in the prequels they were blind to what their order needed arrogant (in forcing ridge doctrines and beliefs) and would use violence to get what they wanted (the legions of lettow left peacefully and didn’t want confrontation but the new Jedi order attacked and slaughtered them) and shackled themselves to the fledgling republic (or dying republic in the ros) the Jedi are and will always be failures people just like them because they are generally portrayed as heroes which in itself is false.

This is why it's kinda their fault I had fantazised about a Jedi Civil War and my dreams came true. Watch that what if scenario. It's soo fucking cool. And who instigated it?? Anakin as payback for betraying Ahsoka's trust

I always found this funny as I was young. Like freak, what are the Jedi suppose to do when they get horny????? Porn isn't gonna work forever🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I find it very much more useful for the Jedi just to reproduce and have children and train them through the light, instead of searching multiple planets to find like one or two force wielders. You are taking babies/little children away from their parents just to train them in the force and to not give a freak about their parents/family in general when they get older. That's messed up itself if you ask me🤷🏾♂️ That's why I don't 100% side with the Jedi, they have their flaws and their pretty bad flaws too. But not like the Sith were any better, they wanted to conquer planets and even destroyed planets if they wanted to. Ahsoka did the right thing leaving the order, but not turning off the force, that was pretty smart. I also like Revan who doesn't always 100% obey the Sith code. I'm also glad that Luke changed the order, cause he's the only one that found out that both sides were jacked up and did something about it. While Yoda and Obi-wan knew later on, especially when their temple got backstabbed, but they just let it fly and did nothing about🤷🏾♂️. Practically waiting for Luke to do all the work🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yeah that’s how fucked up the jedi were is that they didn’t help Count Dooku just. Because they want to be close with the senate

When I saw ''revenge of the sith'' when I saw the Jedi council, they all looked like a arrogant shadow of their former self, jaded and sick of living. the Sith brings at least a certain levek of action and awareness, something I didn't see in any Jedi. They were dumb, slow and easily tricked.

jedi's saber was also there last defence/last resort though that being said windu wasnt against using his saber to kill people if needed if it went against jedi or there order (as even yoda wasnt fan of windu in sense of how he acted/his personality) also yoda was afraid windu was bit dark sided also since some stuff windu did was more dark side then light.
