Let's delve into the recent JT Miller trade between the Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers. Yet another blockbuster trade but is this really enough to change the playoff hopes of the New York Rangers? Or is it one final grasp to keep their season alive. Let's also breakdown the Kiriill Kaprizov injury and what it means for his Hart status and the Minnesota Wild's playoff chances, as well as breakdown the Controversial Mark stone hit against Miro Heiskanen and The Utah Hockey Clubs new name being denied. Lastly let's analyze the Mikael Granlund trade to the stars and how this makes them one of the scariest playoff teams this year. Lots of news this week so let's get you caught up with the NHL. The Miller trade, from the Canucks POV, is that they are relieved of his contract, have a little left over and are rid of locker room poison. Chytil has potential upside if he can stay healthy, Mancini can't be worse than the bottom 4 of their current defensemen.

@@jimmyhockey100 pt player who’s social dynamics cut back in the teams performance is not the draw all you commentators seem to think it is for the fans. Anyone whose been an athlete on a team sport can acknowledge that the best player on your team being unworkable socially, relegates your chances of success pretty quick, unless you’ve got a Michael Jordan, Koby Bryant, but even they while A-holes, lifted their teams up with them. Miller has no such benefits to us, he’s not even the best person on the team. The deficits created by him dragging down others on the team (again his fault or not it doesn’t matter really) are in no way equal to the benefits of having a fully functional roster, sorry if I sound insane for putting that forward, but unless you have a generational talent, a well oiled team beats a few talented individuals every time. The only worry I have is Filip has a history of concussions and one big hit can end his career. I hope he stays healthy and a wild card in this is Mancini who is a raw talent and withe Foote and company coaching the defence Mancini can be a huge find. It seems JT Miller only stays in one spot for a few years and wears out his welcome for whatever reason. I think with the trades Canucks did well.

i really want to be proven wrong about JT Miller. But it is hard for me to overlook the fact that every team he goes to and signs he ends up being shipped out shortly afterwards. When JT Miller was drafted by NYR he was traded out because he had a bad attitude back then and nothing has changed. If you're that much as a problem that you have to take a leave of absence and then hold your club hostage with an NMC...isn't that a red flag? NYR has always been terrible at managing and developing prospects. We have ruined more players than we have grown into excellent NHLers. Sad to see Fil go, but he's one hit away from being retired. I held my breath every time he would take an open ice hit. Losing Mancini sucks too. We are back to mortgaging the future for win-now trades that never pan out and cost too much and we end up in this vicious cycle where players want to come to NYR not because we win but because they want to be comped at Nobu and orchestra seat for Hamilton. The Rangers aren't a serious organization and I have little faith in Drury anymore. But I hope I am wrong. JT scored twice in his first game but we were still terrible and lost 6-3 to a Bruins we had to beat. Honestly, making the playoffs is the worst thing that could happen to NYR because it just validates a bad game plan. I wish they would just do the smart thing and move who they can and salvage the assets to build a proper hockey team.

Vancouver trades for mediocrity. Not even close to a cup contender. And a bubble team once again. As long as we have Petey and fill the seats that is all the fans want. What would we do with a cup anyway? Who would want to see this team make it till June. Our window is now closed. To many obstacles to pass to even get us to the playoffs. Wasted so much money on trades and trade away our future. This regime is no better than the last one. Actually is eerily similar. Some players are on the books and are not playing for us. Pretty much traded all our picks for players who really have not moved the needle. Screwed up so badly on defense. We have far less trading clout as we had before.With the trades I really do not see us making the playoffs. Wolf can win the Calder when Calgary gets in and not us. They actually got two good defensemen who can play and will make a difference. All we got are question marks. And a lot of maybe's.

“Invested their entire future?” They gave up a moderate haul at best for an elite 1st Line Center signed for multiple seasons. Chytil has had multiple concussions and is an injury waiting to happen. It is too risky to depend on him ever cracking the Top 6 because if he goes down, what can a team do to plug that hole? The team is at a major loss. As a Third line player, he can extend the scoring for a team and if he goes downfield, a team can tread water. Miller is on a valuable contract TODAY! And they have him for years. That is what all teams desire - a 1st Line Center. Also, the Rangers are not looking to contend this season anymore. They will move on from Ryan Lindgren, Mika, and Kreider. Vancouver failing to resolve this situation between teammates is embarrassing for management. I feel for Vancouver fans. The Canucks clearly are worse after this deal. Trying to spin it as some sort of win only delays the frustration and failure for down the road.

If you have played ice hockey than you know how a stick can completely take you out if it catches your blade, yes stone didnt need to dive forward but Hintz is to blame for the trip which is why there was no suspension given to Stone.

Still can't figure out the JT Miller and Canuck situation, after the season last year and the chemistry that was developing. How does a conflict between 2 stars potentially blow up the entire Canucks rebuild? It's catastrophic. Could they not put these 2 guys in a room to fucking figure out their issues or separate them on different lines? Either way (despite his valid issues with Petterson) I don' t think it looks good on Miller's resume. He's an intense guy but is he a problem in the dressing room and not a uniting figure.

Sure seems like it. If there was ANY way the team could've gotten them to work it out to go to the cup, sure seems like it would've gotten done. It's too bad. Really for the whole league. Great teams make great hockey!

@@drifter5682 How did the management let this happen? Bo Horvatt commented on it too. He couldn't believe they couldn't work it out. They'll loose Hughes now too as a result with another 10 year rebuild?? I bet a Pat Quinn would have slapped them both up the side of the head. "This is a first world problem boyz. It's bigger than the 2 of you fucks! It's the floor of the rebuild of the franchise... so let's go! " Let's take a deep breath and work this shit out

I think the reason of the trade is beyond Petey and Miller rift. It’s interesting that PA kept referencing JT’s “health” in the interview. Whether that is mental or physical we don't’ know. He did take a break for almost a month but I don’t think it was due to physical injury. He mentioned about not only just between Petey and him, but also 23 other guys, and his age, if I am not wrong. PA was pretty much decided to trade him back in December, maybe after several conversations with him.

@jimmyhockey
@jimmyhockey 6 күн бұрын
I said they are trading away their future and then talked about Chytil and Kakko, the Rangers need more than just Miller to be a legit contender and the window is closing, so is trading away your future worth a mediocre run? Im not so sure. That being said Miller is a beauty and will be good with them just trying to provide some perspective on where this team is.

watch the stone play at full speed, its clear he faked the trip so he could go all in on miro, roupe stick does absolute nothing except give mark the ability to muddy the waters and do something that could have genuinely severely injured another person, its not the first time we have seen players dive off the most tiny of taps and it wont be the last, the irony of it all is now Dallas can do LTIR shenanigans with miro out because of mark stone. p.s. cant wait to see mark stone go on LTIR himself somewhere between feb 19 and 24, calling it now.
