The media and politicians don't want you to think about what they are doing or saying, only to form some sort of emotional attachment to it. If you do that, it maked you less likely to research. It also makes you more likely to defend it even in the light of contradictory evidence. Finally, it also makes you more likely to vote favorably for a politician that manages to cause an emotional link to you... even if you hate them rather than like them.

I've been saying for a while now that cable news has basically become pro-wrestling. The viewer has to tune in every day to see what the "bad guys" are doing, but they'll let the "good guy" win once in a blue moon to let the viewer know there's a chance that they will win. There's no reporting in cable news anymore, just narratives (similar to storylines or angles in pro-wrestling).

"they" picked him, huh? "they." not you. They're nothing like you, right? They're the "others." Donald Trump isn't "the wrestler" He's *a* wrestler. They're all just actors. Every one of them. Every one that you've ever liked or hated, every one that you've ever voted for. they have *all been wrestlers* You missed the point of this whole message. He's talking about the news media, not the president. Ted Turner created CNN and World Championship Wrestling using the same blueprint.

I think he was referring to a potential run by Dwayne the Rock Johnson when he said in the next election people may vote for a pro wrestler, Trump was already in office at the time of this talk, which is why he could reference Linda McMahon as being in his cabinet.
