Craig Miller I see you didn’t get a reply from Cosmic Surfer. Let me answer that for you. 2.5 years and the camera is still holding up well. Great battery life. I’ve used it to capture rough waves too at the beach on a windy day with droplets falling on the camera while I’m zooming in and out. I only cleaned it with a cloth. Not recommended to get it wet though. Rest, I’ve used it in all 4 seasons and even during sand storms. Camera is still perfect and looks like new.

Years later I just bought a slightly used P900 as a pre bridge to the maybe P1000 this next spring. I'm already in love with it but have much learning curve to figure it all out. One reason I bought this is it's the last of the P's to carry the GPS tagging ability. They are getting away from it and we do like the ablity to geo-tag many of our photos due to wildlife and wildflora and it can actually prove you took a photo where you said you did. Say you take a seasonal job for plant ID etc. with Forest Service they worry about cheaters and so it's always been an important feature. So I plan to skip over the 950 for this reason and jump to the 1000. But reading a lot of people who have both and many suggest waiting for the next generation in the series. So if it works as well as it appears to do I think I may do that. I have arthritis in my hands and so tripod and weight and grip style and all of that is important to me on personal level. So near about 3 pounds for the 1000 does concern me. For now love this camera and thank you for your share. PS you missed that squirrel running behind you...lol

It is super relevant. It has allowed many people to confirm whether or not the earth has a curvature or not.

No it hasn't. Your delusion is doing that.
@ToxicLucidity7 жыл бұрын
Anthony Rodemus I tested it yesterday with this camera in Southend England pointing toward landmass on the other side of the coast. It was 17km and for that 12 m should not be visible according to your spherical model of the earth.
@Teeb20237 жыл бұрын
Your anecdotal story is insufficient as evidence. What height were you viewing from? How much of the landmass was visible? What height was the visible area? If you tested it with this camera, don't you have photographic evidence?
@ToxicLucidity7 жыл бұрын
Anthony Rodemus Mine is not anecdotal. Many people have done it. I was standing at sea level and I am 5 feet 4". What evidence do you have that we live on a globe? Have you tested it yourself?

I have used this camera now for several years for filming birds and it is wonderfull. I just wish Nikon would make a small change so that an external microphone could be attached. For stills I think it is just not good enough. Autofocus is too slow for capturing birds in flight
@tommylarsson20255 жыл бұрын
I would recommend to always capture sound from an external recorder. You always get better sound that way.

Nikon should update the Coolpix B700 to a B800 with features capable to rival Sony RX10 IV, Canon Powershot G3X, Lumix FZ1000 II / Leica V-Lux 5... At least 1" sensor, 20MP, 20/24 - 400/600 mm with constant Max F2.8, 4K with no crop, fully articulated TOUCH-screen, Viewfinder, popup flash, Dials : "Modes Dial, Exposure Compensation Dial, Droive Modes Dial, Multifunction/Command Dials, Lens barrel with Focus ring and/or aperture ring, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth... A real Bridge/Superzoom for Hybrid users (Stills+Videos)... Z6 body or D5600 like-body could be a great thing for a such bridge... Nikon should check all features offered by the other rivals (the 1" sensor group above) and release a great Bridge... A Bridge Camera is indeed a perfect option with DSLR-Like settings to people who want to jump slowly in photography. I encourage my friends to look at the Bridges on the market. My first camera was a bridge and moving to a DSLR was different but not really too challenging because of lessons really learned using a Bridge. I think Nikon should really bring a Bridge capable to rival other 1" sensor on the market (RX10, FZ1000-2, V-Lux5, G3X) ... A body like the Z6 could interesting ... But Nikon should not bring too much cameras to avoid the "DL Series" trouble... (Canon has already a lot of options in their Powershot series)... One good great bridge camera is enough... One great Coolpix for Hybrid users(Stills and Videos) ...

I have this camera but I like to use it mainly for videos and the sound is very poor. When filming with a lot of sound around me like at my son's graduation ceremony, it sounds like its underwater. I'm very disappointed in that. Does anyone have any suggestions? It might have to do with the zoom mic. I may turn it off and see what happens.

Lionel G the p700 has a lot of zoom and 4k, as does the panasonic z82, but nothing beats this thing in terms of reach.

hey, thank you for the video, great pictures. I want to buy a bridge camera, but can't make a decision . I have 2 cameras in mind, both seems to be very good. 1- the Panasonic fz300 . 2- Nikon p900. from reviews that I saw , they say that besides the zoom the p900 is not even a match for the fz300, in terms of features and image and video quality. me, being an average consumer, don't understand much about it, but it really seems that the fz300 is a really good camera. does the Nikon has to offer more then just a crazy zoom?comparing both which one you think is the better choice. again ,I am just an average consumer that can appreciate good quality and great "saved" moments. can you give me some advice . thank you
@BandH6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video! Going with the Nikon P900 over the Panasonic FZ300 will give you a much longer zoom range, higher resolution, and great flash range from its pop flash. Going with the FZ300 would give you better battery life, weather sealing, an external microphone port for video work, a higher video resolution, a touch screen, an external hotshoe for Panasonic compatible shoe mount flashes and a faster continuous shooting rate. It really comes down to which features are most important to you based on what you’re shooting.

Can it use for professional photography
@BandH6 жыл бұрын
That would depend on your usage needs, and on the final output/usage of the images you take. While I do not consider the Nikon COOLPIX P900 Digital Camera a professional camera, there are people who are using smaller cameras such as the newer iPhone and Samsung Galaxy smartphones for their professional work, even if the images are only to be used online on sites like Instagram or Flickr or for blog websites. Whether it can be used as a professional camera will depend on if the camera has the features and performance you need for your planned photography usage, and if the image quality is suitable for your usage.

Its a surprisingly good video camera. Image stabilization, quick auto focus, full articulating flip out screen, good low light capability, and manual focus. Not to mention the super zoom party piece. As a stills camera, its average. And shooting at anything other than auto won't work. Max iso: 400.
@richardbradley26417 жыл бұрын
then why on nikons site does it state: ISO sensitivity - AUTO, 100 - 6400 - Extendable to ISO Hi 1 (equivalent to ISO 12800) ?? or is there a reason that it only goes to 400 on other modes ?
@davidreisman4127 жыл бұрын

Not sure what would be considered "normal usage" Vaishak. If you are looking for a great camera that is easy to use and offers a tremendous optical zoom range, then the P900 is a fine choice and a terrific value. if you desire a DSLR so that you have access to hundreds of interchangeable lenses, then the Nikon D3400 may be the way to go . >Mark
@RetrieverTrainingAlone9 ай бұрын
16 MP fastest shutter speed 1/400, 83x (2000mm equivalent) optical zoom, 300 shots per battery charge , 7 fps burst rate at full resolution, 18 scene modes including timelapse, bird-watching, easy panorama and moon shot, GPS, etc. Cons: 1) Most glaring flaw with this lens is how much flare it suffers from because there is no lens hood and the front element is not recessed. 2) Macro for photos from 1.5 cm, the image edges are blurry. 3) JPEG format(no RAW available) 4) Long shutter lag and lazy zoom speed is a real drag. This doesn’t do well for quick-moving subjects, hence for moving sports or moving wildlife.

I have to disagree. if its important enough to take a picture of something, and especially since any shot is a one time only shot, then its important for me to take the best camera I have...and the lenses. camera bags just arent that big an issue, especially with the side access of todays back back style bags. thats why I never take a picture with my cell phone. its just another way of my saying its really not important, so why would i bother.
