You couldn’t find a bigger Russ fan than me. For like 5 years straight I watched every OKC game and every Houston game in 19-20. I think that first stint with the Lakers really fucked him up mentally and destroyed his confidence. Even with Washington where he struggled at the start, once he was fully healthy, he played at a level comparable to his MVP season. He’s still super athletic, so it’s not like his drop off can be attributed to that. I remember even in the 2021-22 pre-season he looked like a totally different player compared to just a few months prior in May 2021. I’m not going to pretend and say he’s still a good player. I think he doesn’t get enough credit for his defensive play, but his offense as of recent has been worse than Andre Roberson. It’s like he has two left hands and just absolutely no feel for the game anymore which I think makes him unplayable. Every time he dribbles/shoots, it reminds me of when I try playing basketball right after lifting weights where I just have absolutely no feel or groove with the ball. Sucks that this is gonna be the legacy of one of the best point guards of the 2010’s (even Coach Nick would have to give him that one, no matter how many times Russ made him shake his head).

Russ is very popular with lots of fans. He did this by playing fast all game to be entertaining. * Russ has a terrible 3 point shooting percentage for an NBA point guard. This is when 3 point shooting is essential. Except for brief bursts, Russ has never been a good shooter outside of the paint. * RW’s basketball IQ is suspect, especially on defense, because he has focused on padding his stats for so long. - Once teams figured out that RW was a problem, he turned to his many star friends in the NBA who for some reason wanted to play with Russ. Until these star players figured out that they cannot win a title with RW in a major role on a team.
@chasenickles26019 күн бұрын
He never had b ball iq......... this is the reason why Durant couldn't win a championship with him in okc....... Westbrook always played off his athleticism, he was extremely fast and physical and that was his bread and butter, driving to the paint constantly , now what your witnessing over the last few years is his athleticism is declining because he is getting older and he never learned how to play basketball the right way, so he is being exposed........ dude never had a consistent jumper, he didn't develop a three, and he was never a great passer, he was never a real point guard, he was a 2 guard masquerading as a point......... his triple double years on okc was just him ball hogging, stealing rebounds from his center Steven adams and padding his stats, forcing players he pass the ball to just shoot, so he can get a assist.... also Westbrook is horrible on defense.... I was never a fan of Westbrook game, however one thing that made me appreciate Westbrook the last 6 or 7 years, is that dude always show up to work, and he alays play hard....... comparing that to the players in the nba nowadays, who miss games and play lazy....

Coach what do you think that teams should do to get the best out of Russ? Do you think they should limit minutes and not put him in clutch time? He seemed to do alright when he came off the bench for his previous teams but it still seems his bball IQ has diminished. His shooting doesn’t seem it improve and his shot selection is still horrible. If the coach pushes him to facilitate and run fast breaks in 2nd and 3rd quarters and crash the board for offensive rebounds I think he can be beneficial but idk if Russ himself likes to limit his own abilities…

You meant to ask..Does RB fit with any NBA team? At any point in the past 5 years?

Braun is my favourite young player in the league right now. I know he was a first round pick but he was a huge steal outside of the lottery. The nuggets do really well drafting good players. Rus on the otherhand is so washed up at this point and doesnt have high enough basketball iq to positively impact this team

Brodie just needs to grab rebounds, make cuts and shoot wide open shots. Don’t force anything!! I see the hate he’s getting and just want him to do well.

Another vid where not mentioned one good thing about Russell Westbrook. The guy is playing his 17th year in NBA without learning anything and not beeing good about anything. That must be a world record. Jokic who is constantly very smart on the court must be dead wrong about Westbrook. I have three sons who wants to be national team level soccer players in near future. Im saying to them, training like Westbrook and you dont have any worries.. So thank you mr.Westbrook for your example. You are my hero. Im former track&fielder bball player and former couch(professional) too so I must know nothing about sports too.

Hopefully by playing with jokic, russ can improve his off-ball game. I knew the saying of you can't teach an old dog a new trick, and any player who know the basic of off-ball movement won't attempt the play at 7:08. But one can only hope, especially with jokic having a generational level of basketball iq

Nobody blames Russ for these games. But people who expect Russ to shoot threes l

so basically, Braun couldn’t defend the 3, and Russ ruins any spacing and flow for Jokic and the Nuggets.
@senaxyva19 күн бұрын
You would expect westbrook is smarter with more experience. First he was guarding no one on 2:26, next play, jokic, who has less experience, needs to teach him a lesson.

Question about Russ. Did he have the option to stay with the Clippers? They figured out how to use him the last two years. He should have stayed put if so.

I think they were as frustrated as Malone must be now... which is why his mins had been cut to no more than 20 a game
