Bad idea for the STI to come back. Subaru has already F'd up their pricing scale with the new WRX, they bumped a what used to be brand new $26k wrx up to what a brand new STI price was... so if they did bring back an STI, it's going to be priced $55-60k... which they know they can't do as a majority of their consumers can't afford that. Until Subaru brings the price of the WRX back down to reality, they can never justify selling a 55k-60 STI

I agree, HP is not everything. I've tracked a tuned VB against a 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 with 760HP and he can't keep up with me on the turns. One thing I wish the VB had is an LSD. To me that is the biggest weakness on these cars, but again most people won't care about this because most people don't track or autoX their car.
@jeremybrown374823 күн бұрын
Shoot the new Toyota Corolla GR does not cut it, the engine it comes with can’t even make 400 hp without putting big bucks into its engine, the WRX just bolt ons and a tune! I’ll take the WRX any day over the GR … they both make the same gas mileage, and the wrx has room for friends and family to sit in the back! I like the type R but the mark up is hideous!!

@ yeah I don't get it. He just tuned his car was so excited about it lol I think we'd all love an sti but this VB one hell of a car especially for the price. It's hands down the best WRX ever made and if you want to compare it to an sti they're pretty damn close. Besides the transmission it's just as good if not better. You can get more power out of it with less mods and less money.

Sadly there is a bad stigma because a lot of young kids get these cars in high school. Try to impress their friends or girlfriends realize the payment was too much then they run the crap out of them, try to sell them before the motors blow or clutches go out. Cops stereotype the cars and drivers into a certain category. I’m in the process of getting a 2018 STI Limited because the STI was always my dream car in HS (Graduated 08) with almost 54,000 they want 28,000. It looks and sounds like it was taken care of and well maintained no mods except the gearshift knob and regular on time maintenance. But I’m getting nervous the more and more that ive been watch people’s videos…..

I dont think it's ugly...well, then again yeah stock it is. Easily fixed. What's not easily fixed is a motor that is so easy to make power but the inability to handle the power without grenading. It's needs the sti trans and brakes. The rest we can do relatively cheaply. They can make a $50/$60k sti but that won't be the market I'm in or anyone I know interested in these. For that money there's just better options.

@Flabberdabbers22 күн бұрын
The current wrx is more expensive than the previous gen Sti. A new Sti would be almost $50k with carry over parts from the previous model and a small power bump. The VB wrx had a 3hp increase from the VA. I highly doubt the Sti would be making over 320hp at close to 50K is ridiculous. Not the mention the GR Corolla is a much better performance vehicle and can be had for under 40K from many dealers.
@shlarduke536123 күн бұрын
When the WRX and later STi came to the states they quickly became popular because they were unique, lightweight, and were fast compared to the competitors that cost a lot more. It was a a revolution in the tuning scene when most were trying to make Civics fast. You could get a AWD WRX for Civic Si money and put the smack down on Camaros and Mustangs from a dig. The WRX is no longer punching above its weight class. Everyone else has caught up and the WRX has gotten bigger than the Legacy used to be. The value proposition is no longer there. I owned an 07 STi and an 08 STi hatch. Great cars, even though I did head gaskets on both. Lost interest in them when the VAs came out. To each his own.
@antoinelee-thomas953623 күн бұрын
The only thing you're getting out of the WRX tS is a white, blue, or purple exterior with a blue interior, the copper-ish Brembo brakes, and EyeSight Technolgy paired to the manual transmission. If you are a Subie diehard, or if this is your first car buying experience and you just have to have the fully loaded WRX tS with all the bells and whistles, then it is the perfect car for you outside of AWD. AWD is nothing to ride home about, but that's a tiring rant for another time. Other than that, $46,875 for a tS is 2021 WRX STI Limited and 2020 WRX STI Series White money (give or take) and both of those have the same hp, but way more than the VB WRX tS. In conclusion, the WRX tS is going to be a huge bust and Subaru of Japan and Subaru of America need to call a last minute audible and bring back the STI on the VB WRX platform and call that audible now. If anyone is that concerned about the STI not having an engine, what's wrong with SOJ and SOA banding together and going to Porsche to get the 2.5T Flat Four Boxer engine from the 718 Boxster that makes 350hp and 309lb-ft of tq? That will far more sufficient and far more worth the price and letting the STI Division do their STI things like they did with the VA gen STI, a VB gen STI (while it would be pricier over a WRX tS), would be justifiable of its price tag in horsepower per dollar. The VB WRX's mid-cycle refresh will be model year 2026 in calendar year 2026 because of when the WRX tS enters the chat. Even if we can get a VB WRX STI just for 3 model years, 2026-2028MY, that's more than enough time for STI diehards to cash in on the ultimate top dog and increase WRX sales. At the end of the day, if SOJ and SOA still says no to bringing an STI, then they better not bother bringing a next gen WRX anymore after this generation. Nobody is going to want a hybrid CVT-only WRX or a transmissionless EV WRX STe because it's not what the WRX is all about and where its roots lie.

I have a '23 WRX, and it's fun to drive. However, it's the most expensive vehicle I've ever purchased ,and the most expensive vehicle for me to use as a daily driver. Gas mileage isn't so great, and that results in going to the gas station atleast once a week to fill up. If you are driving primarily in the city, all the stops and goes will give you a lot less than 19 mpg. Gas isn't cheap either, so your looking at close to 300 a month just to feed this monster. Insurance on this car is also very expensive, so even with a good driving record, you still feel like you're getting screwed. If your driving record is bad, I would stay away from this car. So looking at those three factors (price, gas mileage, and insurance), you can see why people may stay away from this vehicle. Hopefully Toyota can help Subaru out in the future, and make it to where the wrx/sti's are more fuel efficient, and get additional help thru hybrid/electric technology. Also, having a awd 'on-demand' system would improve gas mileage over an awd 'all-the-time' system. I'm ready to move on from the WRX. It was fun, but not so fun when you see how much you put in compared to what you get out of it. A Lexus Ct200h may not be as fast or powerful, but atleast I'll have more money in my pocket at the end of month. 43+ mpg in the city trump's 19 mpg any day.

The VB WRX Should have come Stock at 285-290hp. The damn CVT out of the Ascent Wields 277ft lbs of Torque, and they tell you, you can tow. So whats the Problem Here, Its Obviously Not the CVT if its the Same Transmission from that 4,300lb SUV. Want me to buy a 400Hp AWD 2.0liter Toyota Celica instead? With Variable Torque Distribution at the touch of a dial? I have No Problem doing that Subaru.

Subaru of Japan and Subaru of America have shot themselves in the foot. $46,875 is outrageous. No extra horsepower and torque means that this car is DEAD ON ARRIVAL (DOA) when this car hits dealership lots and showroom floors in January 2025. $34,000 will get you an manual transmission Elantra N with 276hp and 289lb-ft. $39,000 will get you in a GR Corolla Core with 300hp and 273lb-ft, but step up to the Premium trim (formerly the Circuit Edition) at $42,000 and it bumps the tq up to 295lb-ft and same for the Premium Plus (formerly the Morizo Edition) at $46,000 and change making it only a $205.00 difference between the GR Corolla Premium Plus and the WRX. The FL5 Civic Type R is $44,000, granted you can find one at MSRP and has 315hp and 310lb-ft. The MK8.5 is $45,000 and that too is 315hp, but 288lb-ft. Also, after the 2024MY Golf R's, there will be no more manual transmission going into the 2025 and 2026 model year Golf R's. If you're really feeling froggy and want to take a leap, you can spend an extra $6,000-7,000 on an Integra Type S and get 320hp and 310lb-ft and it's manual-only and as long as you're willing to look past no memory seats, you still get way more car for the money with the Integra Type S over the WRX tS.

At this rate, the WRX tS ain't worth its price either. Unless you're a first time car buyer and your a diehard Subie fan and you want a fully loaded WRX with all of the EyeSight Technology linked to a manual transmission, a blue interior with a white, blue, or purple exterior and copper-ish Brembo brake calipers, then this car is for them. Other than that, 3 measly hp from the VA gen WRX's 268hp into the VB gen WRX with 271hp and still be the same tq for both generations and no horsepower and torque increase for the tS, at least up to 295-300hp and 275-280lb-ft of tq to justify this car's price tag is asinine. I'm not interested in what aftermarket mods will do for this car to get you there. It's all about why it does not come out of the assembly plant the way it should to match the horsepower per dollar ratio. That's what it comes down to.
