I purchased a 2014 V6 “base model” about 3.5 years ago. Since then I have put about $10,000 of aftermarket mods into my car and have completely customized it to my own liking. I love that I don’t pay a lot in gas, since it is my daily. And I love that for my avg driving, I get the most bang for my buck when it comes to how much of the car I use. I know with a GT, there would be a whole lot of power in that car that I would be paying for that I would rarely ever get to use. The V6 just makes sense. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Not to mention, if you put that much in mods, it is probably as fast or faster than the GT but your insurance is way less.

True, 17 and was thinking about a v8. Could afford it, but realized it don’t want to have to afford it. Just a waste of money, I think about “but more power!” And then I think, “well, when would you have to use that power” and the answer is always on inclines like exit ramps or getting onto the interstate. Other than that, showing off or going too fast on the highway. Not worth it, especially considering I have little experience with light cars with big engines lmao.
@TommyMurrayJr
@TommyMurrayJr 4 жыл бұрын
All these comments are so ignorant, you just rational the fact that you couldn’t afford a v8 with nonsense. I have a 2014 5.0 and I use my power band every single time I drive it. On the highway especially. There is no possible way any mustang v6 would never touch the v8 in terms of performance. And if you do for some reason mod a v6 it still wouldn’t be close to a v8. And if you are modding a v6 you’re an idiot and should’ve just got a v8 if you’re looking for performance.

My water pump started to leak at 60K and I found they changed updated the part when bought a new one. Also make sure they replaced the transmission filter and fluid. And change the coolant as well. Hope you enjoy your Mustang ownership. Keep an eye on the coolant levels regularly and oil to be safe. I’ve changed my oil now every 5K which is usually around 40% oil life. I’ve owned several v8 Stangs over the last 18 years or so and have been around mustangs since birth. I’m a v8 guy and currently track a 12 5.0. That said, I have owned a 14 3.7 manual for over 4 years and have daily driven it since. I never thought I’d buy a 6 but I’ve truly been in love with my cyclone from day one. I chose it over a 2010 4.6 gt. I have better 1/4 mile slips in my 3.7 than the 03 Mach 1 manual and 07 3v I had years ago and for the money they are hard to beat. With a few upgrades(mainly rear gear and tuning) its a blast to drive anywhere. I ll take my 3.7 over my wife’s $50k suv any day!

I had Focus ST which is 250 km and I could not understand why people upgrade them to 300 km+ :) Basically you get 100km/h in 6.7 sek and in Poland if you forget yourself in the city, you can lose your driving license very quickly. And I agree with some folks below - this video is really nice to watch ;)

If you haven’t purchased an exhaust yet, take a look at the Borla S-Type/Stinger. They’re pricey but in my opinion are by miles the best exhaust for the 3.7L. You would not be disappointed! If you want sometime a little louder, the Roush exhaust sounds mean too and doesn’t hurt the wallet quite as badly, but they are also not quite as refined.

I bought a 12 V6 Premium convertible back in 2013. Since then I have driven it from Florida to Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. My V6 Convertible can get a real, true-to-life 30mpg out on the highway. Around town, it is more like 20-22 mpg. And it does that while pumping 305HP that is a blast to drive. I'm closing in on 100k miles now and still have had no real maintenance issues with the Mustang, and I also like to get down and blast off at the red lights sometimes. The V6 Cyclone is an amazing engine, worthy of respect.

Now I'm a bit older and looking at my first "expensive" car.. and I start looking at V6s because I've drive enough V8s to know that gas mileage is awful and the amount of money I've spent over the years on just gas at 4 - 5 dollars a gallon, yeah no.. not worth it unless its my backup car. These model year v6 mustangs are dope as hell, fun to drive and still have great power.

Guys, I'm probably much older almost anyone that would watch this video (57). Get a V6 and use the rest of the V8 money to open a Roth IRA. Use the money you'll save on gas to fund your Roth IRA. By the time you're 59 1/2 (when the Roth IRA matures) you'll have enough money to retire AND by a truly, high end car. I'm getting 27mpg out of '11. My '06 GT gets 21.5mpg if I granny it and my Camaro V6 gets like 27mpg (and it's a better car than both Mustangs but that's besides the point). 3.7, V6 Mustangs are great option.

This is a very well done video. I owned a black 2013 3.7 Premium from January 2016 to December 2019. On December 12th, I traded it in...towards a race red 2014 3.7 Premium. Why trade one v6 for another v6? A multitude of reasons; lower miles, better condition (the '13 had endured quite a bit of abuse before it came to me), and I had always wanted a red one. The planets lined up, and I finally got the Mustang I'd wanted. I love my 2014. At a mere 37,000 miles, she still drives like new. It had previously been owned by an older couple in a very small North Dakota town. Never modded, never beat on. I do have plans for the car, but those plans only consist of minor appearance mods. 305 hp is more than sufficient for a 49 year-old guy living in Fargo, ND (this side of the state is as flat and uninteresting as Kendall Jenner). At my age, I have no interest in impressing anyone. I've outgrown all that. I don't show-boat downtown on the weekends, and I learned long ago that any woman who is impressed by the car you drive isn't the kind of woman you want to waste your time with. There are hundreds of miles of sparsely-traveled highways here in eastern ND. Me, my Mustang, some good music, those ghostly highways, and I'm exactly where I need to be. Thanks for the video, Graham!

I purchased a 2014 V6 "base model" brand new. The only options on it were the ruby red paint, the electronics package, and the V6 performance package. My first car was a 1967 Mustang GT 390 fastback (oh do I wish I still had it!) four speed, and the '14 will out accelerate it (I have time sheets), out stop it, out handle it by a wide margin, and gets nearly three times the gas mileage on regular gas. With the performance package the '14 drives like it's a go kart, has been dead reliable for 131,000 miles, and is extremely economical for what it is. I agree with everything in the video and have had it from both sides, that is the big block GT and the V6. With that said however, there is one thing the '67 had that the '14 can't compete with, the sound....

Wow, what a first car! I can agree with you on that last point. There is nothing that can beat the sound of an old gas-guzzling carbureted push-rod V8!

@@GrahamCain I inherited it from my brother who was the original owner. I grew up in that car and learned to drive on it, so it was a natural to "buy" it from him when he out grew it. Back then a used muscle car was just that, a used car. It ended up having a rusted out cowl vent, that spread to the floor pans, and that was pretty much the end of it. It was about to rust in half and the doors wouldn't consistently open and shut because of the chassis flex. There wasn't the parts available then to repair it like there is now. Got rid of it for parts and got a VW... BIG STEP DOWN! It's kind of neat zooming around in the '14 and getting the looks I get as a white haired white bearded Granpa in a ruby red kids car!

I just bought a 2012 V6 Mustang yesterday. It only had 14,000 miles on it! It’s practically brand new. There was just one owner before me. The guy just covered it up and kept it in his garage. I love this car more than anything I have ever driven. Before this I had a 1995 Ford Bronco. I got into an accident and unfortunately we had to deem it totaled. That truck was my baby. But I had to let her go. I wound up getting $26,970.00 for it. So after a couple weeks of careful consideration and searching for the right Mustang, I found a unicorn and jumped on the opportunity! Your Mustang is beautiful man! 👍🏻

I used to think it was V8 or nothing when it came to muscle cars. However, I'm starting to view muscle cars the way I view strength training, meaning that calisthenics, bodybuilding, and powerlifting are all major forms of strength, but the physique and performance output are different in the end. Nobody would argue that any of those types of lifters were not muscular and athletic and powerful. Same thing with a modern era V6 Mustangs. It's not exactly a powerlifter, but it's undeniably a strong choice.

Graham you alone have gave me such confident in my 3.7 stang than anyone else on the internet You stood up and said a really controversial opinion and i salute you for it because its a nice opinion to have I already have so much love for my mustang she is gorgeous reliable fast and a damn good car Some people dont know this but the 3.7 mustang is faster than any other GT that came before it with a 305 horsepower and 0-60 in 6 seconds stock When people ask me why didnt i get a gt id just say …. Why would i This car is lighter and cheaper and when i just cruise around i get a gas mileage of 4 cylinder specially now gas prices have skyrocketed and when i bury the throttle its not that different from the GT The only thing id say is missing in the v6 is the sound , it doesnt sound bad but it could sound way better i blame ford for not making it growlier and louder with a deep sound However i remember the first time i heard my car from the outside my friend borrowed it and when he came back i was hearing a really nice car only to my surprise it was my v6 mustang If you want a daily reliable car with a handful of fun id say get a 3.7 mustang and ignore what people have to say

Had an '11 GT500 convertible the wife loved but she wouldn't drive it because it was too much power. When she deployed to AF I bought her an '11 3.7L, AT, convertible, shipped off to SAI for the GTS upgrade so she would have her own to drive. Fast forward a few years and many military moves we were on our way to Korea and I just couldn't put the cars in storage again but we could only ship one. Easy choice, gave the GT500 to our son (he was going to get it later on anyways) and shipped the GTS. It's been a fantastic car to drive around Korea and nothing on the Pen looks like it.

Anyone who says a 6 cylinder Mustang is less of a Mustang, or the Mustang you get "just to say you have a Mustang" needs to be reminded that the Mustang has had a 6 cylinder since the first Mustangs went on sale in 1964. The 6 cylinders have always been the money makers for Ford that allowed them to do bigger things with the V8 cars. I started with a 2012 V6 Premium manual. Excellent first car. I later had a '15 GT 6 speed Performance Pack, and a '68 289 Coupe project. To me the V6 is a gateway to many things, and it really is a perfect daily driver for a car enthusiast, practical, fun and useable power that doesn't make you cringe at the gas pump. The 3.7 Is capable of pushing 550+ wheel horsepower with forced induction and 550 is far from its max. I still have my first Mustang, the 2012 V6, it now has 150k miles on it and still looks and drives like new. I don't plan on ever selling it.

Thank you for your straight up comments and opinion. I have been back and forth on which Mustang to buy. I like the S550 and also traditional style of the ‘11-‘14 3.7 V6, stay away from the 4.0 V6. With gas prices these days the V8 may be out. v6 will be cheaper on insurance too. Sorry for the long winded comment.

It feels like it's got 50% of the power of the Corvette Z51, but it's still very fun to drive. It does have enough power & brakes/handles really well. I put the top down and my foot down on the highway and it purrs at 80 mph. It's a proper sports car & a great value! I love that I can drive it anywhere with my wife, dog and luggage.

I have a 2010 v6 mustang. Power and handling as well as breaking are good. Fuel mileage is also impressive. I'm getting 23mpg 50/50 highway city driving. The reason i would like have more power is because now a days there are people on the highways in town that like to purposefully be jerks by speeding up or sometimes slowing down to block someone from either merging onto traffic or from an on ramp. And i know they're doing it for pleasure because once you get close enough to see the driver they give you the HA HA look or some other gesture combined with the look. Not everyone does this. It only happens about twice a week. Sometimes 3 or 4 in a week but thats above average. My point is that with more power you can stomp on it and leave them behind. I'll admit the v6 handles most situations good but not all. Then there is the road rage idiot that is willing to ram you with his vehicle and will actually follow you until you reach your destination. He wants to fight. Probably was looking for a fight in the first place. If your driving a dodge hellcat or faster mustang v8. You can leave them behind. Period. Thats why i wish for more than this v6 mustang.

I have two cars now: a 2008 Nissan 350z touring roadster, and a 2011 Mustang v6 that I've had for 12 years. It has a cold air intake with a performance tune, and just with those two mods it is very nimble. It feels very light and is still fun to drive for automatic car. I enjoy my Z with its manual transmission, but the mustang still fills lighter and nimbler than the z, with only a couple of small mods. I am still thinking of adding some steeper gears to it, but it has truly been an excellent car.

I totally agree. Rented a 2019 Camaro V6 and couldn't believe how good and friggin quick it was. A few weeks later hit the lottery at SFO and got a true SS Camaro to drive. Took it back after 1 day and grabbed an Ecoboost vert. The V* was just too much, too much power, too much rough ride, too much attention to make the thing act civil. I will at some point get a V6 Stang. Mid range torque is a bit flimsy but can be fixed very easily. The 0-60 in 5.5 is plenty fast enough for me...I mean, I aint racing.

Imma just put this here great video and production but I am sorry I’ve owned a 3.7 I’ve owned the 2.3 and now own a 2019 5.0 but from my personal experience and I mean personal the 5.0 cost difference for me on a monthly basis has only been 200$ total gas,payment,insurance I have a full Ford performance suspension and full bolt ons on the motor for my daily driver the gt is just the far better and more fun car and was worth every penny for the price difference and there’s nothing like walking a 911 our stock corvette in a mustang and seeing there faces witch just isn’t something that’s going to happen with a v6 and the cost to boosted it would be the same as just getting the gt from the start and it will probably only beat stock gts anyway so for me the moral of the story just get a v8 it will serve you far better

Honestly it's a nicer looking car too, you'd think they'd reserve that neat little horse for people who paid more money but you actually lose it if you pay more... Getting a souped up V8 to take out and tear up might sound like fun, but I work for a living unlike most of the people who drive those lol. Its a different story when daddy isn't paying for a new car when you break/ get bored of your old one in a couple years. Been driving my v6 for 8 years, on the road constantly for work. I put about 45,000 miles a year on it. Only issue that's ever cropped up unexpectedly is the pinion shaft leaking. If you take care of one of these cars, they just keep going. And you know what? When the engine finally does give out, I'm not getting a new car. I'll just get another engine, I'm never getting rid of this car if I can help it

Of course the 5.0 is a blast to drive and the sound is amazing...but.. At what price?!? Cause most of the time(95%) I have to drive normally. So...all that money to have a few pulls a week?! Not sure anymore. And let me tell you: I tried 2 v6 3.7: those cars are AMAZING for the price!! And even without considering the price: the performance are excellent!! i can respect the numbers v6's are putting up these days. going back, to the older mustangs, the i6's have been basically gutless yet reliable workhorse motors. Australia fell in love with these and are the only ones to build these motors up. the 300ci i6 they used in the trucks was based off the 200 in the mustangs and it was a bit torquier, ultra reliable. half a million mile engines easy, but they just didn't have the power of the V8s. If you look at Ford in Australia, the Barra is the 6 cylinder ford COULD HAVE made if they expanded down this inline 6 route. They made one amazing engine with the Barra but it never found its way into a Mustang. The thing is though, V8 engines are synonymous with ford. Even from the beginning. Ford and V8, America and Apple pie. They just go together... When the mustangs switched over to V6's for the base models, they were also pretty gutless, V6 accords could smoke them easy. I can respect that V6's now have the power of stock previous generation GT V8s, with better fuel economy, better weight distribution, and an all around better driving experience. Japanese cars in that span of time i mentioned have proven just how amazing 6 cylinder engines can be. The RB from nissan, the JZ from toyota, Honda VTEC V6 in the NSX... All those engines and cars are universally beloved by their fans. It's funny that we can't seem to get that same kind of love from American 6 cylinders. It's just a completely different car culture. America is all about the muscle car, but you can see that is slowly changing... The new pony/muscle cars from the big 3 are looking more like GT touring cars than American Muscle. I think it's time for the paradigm to shift, where smaller, higher reving, less displacement engines can be made extremely fun behind the right chassis and driver.

I'm a retired mechanic I have 69 GTO 73 340 Duster and I have a 2011 Mustang 3.7 V6 I bought it used 6 years ago I put a slight tune on it still running it through the stock mufflers and she's doing 0 to 100 in 10 seconds and 0 to 60 in less than 6 seconds that's the same type of performance my 69 GTO does with a 400 cubic inch with Holley double Pumper and four-speed stick gas mileage is fantastic and I have embarrassed a lot of V8 cars I have left them in the dust but to be fair I know how to drive it's not always the horsepower that makes the fastest car yes the new V8 Mustang will definitely have a lot more Tire burning torque then the V6 but once you get the revs up on the V6 it's no slouch I could be wrong but I think the Mustangs actually I love them but I think one of the reasons you see a lot of them crashing besides the fact that people don't know how to handle high-powered cars is the V8 engines our little too much power for them where they can very easily get out of control sometimes the car is dangerous enough with the V6 on hard throttle with an automatic with firm shifts the car will chirp like crazy and go sideways no problem so yes the V6 can be a lot more fun than a barrel of monkeys don't underestimate it but it has to be a 2011 and newer 2010 and older v6s are good for boat anchors that's about it
