When I bought my vxr, and that grip was the first thing to go. Hate that grip. Once you get it off and run side plates it's a great bow!
@justinvzu014 жыл бұрын
So, the grip really is a personal thing. I'm just a target archer, so I haven't any bows with actual grips, I shoot an older PSE Xpression, but I can tell from experience that any grip does work. You just have to adapt yourself. That being said, just get a Beereal grip on there and you're done. lol. Besides that I would like to point you to your draw cycle. Never pull towards your chest. It makes the bow feel heavier, increases risk of injury and adds steps to the process of anchoring. Drawing towards your chest is often seen with bow hunters, hell, Donut Operator did it too in the latest Demolition Ranch video. But it's often an indication that your draw weight is too high. For hunting anything 50lbs or higher is good, so you're much better off just lowering the draw weight and working on a proper draw. Hold the bow high, get your elbow in a straight line with the bow, and lower the bow onto target while drawing back in a fluid motion. That'll bring you immidiately to your anchor, and acquires your target.

I totally agree, I’ve got the same sight and bow. Been dialing it in over the weekend. Usually shoot with a lanyard over the wrist. I’m not a huge fan of the grip, but I’ve also been able to adjust my form and grip slightly and my groups have been so tight that I don’t shoot the same spot so I don’t bust an arrow.
@kadenjameson17643 жыл бұрын
A grip would make it much easier and less of a worry tho. The bow is crazy accurate and smooth, grip isn’t the best tho

Honestly I kinda wish I bought the Hoyt AXIUS ultra this year😬
@johnnyboi56614 жыл бұрын
I rather shoot the new hoyt Torrex xt than the vxr 28 or 31.5, it has a better and smoother draw cycle. For the Vxr about 3/4 of the way, on the draw there’s a very hard ridge you have to be able to pull over to get to full draw. It is easy to hold at full draw, I’ll give it that but that draw cycle is something else even at the same poundage as my own bow. Hoyt probably has the best draw cycle for bow but for Matthews I would say their bows is good for speed and the holding time at full draw.

What strikes me most is that "Almost all pro shooters" immediately replace their bowstring after receiving it from the dealer and because the original ones still stretch so much in the first months! As Podium Archer MFJJ points out they don't have the time to stretch the bowstrings on new bows, this is too costly and not feasible. Chris Bee also immediately replaces the handle because they are so damn good! I think you can improve any bow, or adjust it to your colors. I only regret that they cut back on their compound bows and that the customer immediately has to incur additional expenses!

I have shot Mathews since 1997 by a new bow at least every other year. Right now I own seven models never had a string break ever and put thousands of shots on a set of zebras before replacing. My vertix that I hunted with last year had probably 3000 to 4000 arrows and were still running. I change strings every year regardless but the factory strings and cables still had life. I have had way worse luck with Hoyt and pse factory strings.

Hey brother, I've watched most of your videos comparing bows this year. I always focused on your first impression of the bow you were shooting. As in if it was the first time shooting it etc. Now I will preface this statement with a little background. I am/was a Hoyt bow owner. I liked their product and had no reason to switch. I was buying a Axius Ultra this year. That was it. Done deal. Before my Hoyt I owed a Mathews. So I watched you shoot the Bowtech Revolt and Revolt X. You were blown away by the draw, how dead in hand it was and how it held on target. I went out and shot one. The Revolt X is what I shot. I loved it!! I didn't buy it right away. I never do that. I looked at all of the big dogs, Hoyt, Mathews, Prime, Elite. Bowtech Revolt X was it buddy!! That bow is amazing!! Smooth as a mofo!! The valley? Oh man is it something! 85% let of with 70 lbs limbs. That's like 10.5 lbs holding weight. I could go on and on but I will just talk about one last thing, the grip!! It's the best grip I have had my hand on!! Dude you should have went with that first thought about the Revolt. You were worried about the limb pockets or something about it being plastic. There are certain plastic composites that are stronger than steel or aluminum. Take bowstrings for example. That's plastic do you think it's strong? I did not even mention the cam lock!! Dude the Bowtech Revolt is one badass bow!! Thank you for your video because it got me to try it. Btw..Mathews grips have always sucked!! Check out Rattler Grips maybe he can make you a better version of what Mathews put on the VXR. God bless.

I ordered one last week and I am super excited about it. I was watching your video when you were at the total archery challenge and got nervous because you weren’t happy with it but thank you for the great advice!

Don't be nervous. The bow is excellent! Love mine. Just make the bow yours like anything else on it (sights, stabilizer, etc.).

Don’t let one bad review curb your enthusiasm. As far as I’m concerned it’s a Great Bow and I love Shooting mine. The only thing I changed on it was the strings and I use the old strings as back ups. The grip on the bow fits me just fine.

Had exact same problem with my VXR. My solution is a company called Custom torqueless bow grips out of Kansas they make awesome full grips or side plates. I’ve used them on my bows for the last 10 yrs. They are amazing. Check em out.

@@HaxenHunt With all the positive reviews on the VXR, I thought about shooting one. So glad to have shot the Xpedition Xcursion 7 HD first! The grip is the riser and the stock strings are GAS. Fantastic draw cycle, rock solid back wall (limb stops) and so accurate that I'm a better shot! Oh, and since it was last year's bow, killer pricing. Good luck with your hunts! Thanks for the great content!!!!

That’s crazy lol, that is my favorite grip. You must have some small hands or something cuz the engage grip is the best grip on any bow in my opinion, and the VXR is by far the best all around hunting bow on the market for a white tail hunter

Sorry bub. Blaming your equipment for bad shooting is a rookie move. Doubt if youre as a good as you think you are. Unless something is broken or way off, any bow in the right hands shoots well. New grips, properly tuned equipment and arrows only tighten up groups. Groups like the ones you claim are bad because distance magnifies bad shooting.
@HaxenHunt4 жыл бұрын
Come shoot with me man, I just shot my Hoyt with a 10” group at 120 yards.
@sirodutexas14844 жыл бұрын
@@HaxenHunt when you consistently shoot that group at 120 yards under pressure then you're good. Everyone is at there best when nothing is on the line.

@sirodutexas14844 жыл бұрын
@@HaxenHunt not a nock on your shooting, but you can't blame a grip or factory strings for shooting poorly. Unless you have a tuning issue or broken equipment, every bow can be shot well.

When I picked up my V3 First thing I did was throw the engage grip away and ordered an Ultra View Bee Real grip! My 60 yard group shrunk exponentially. What can I say it just works. MATHEWS really needs to rethink their grip

It is sad that manufacturers are STILL putting dumb cheap plastic grips on otherwise good bows (Mathews, Bear, Hoyt, PSE etc)! grips cause torque, any bow with a cheap plastic grip on it always handles better without it. take the grip off and shoot from the riser, accuracy will improve. it would be nice to see more bow makers use a riser grip instead, like Prime, Athens, Obsession etc. those bows all shoot great with very minimal torque problems.
@Kgsoloman-ou6wm4 жыл бұрын
I bought a vxr 28. Was okay, ended up selling it for the 31.5 because I thought maybe it was the shorter axle that made me shoot iffy (I have a 30” draw). Got the 31.5, kept having torque issues. The strings kept twisting peep, would set the poundage to 70 within 2 days it would be down to 68. Sold it. Bought a pse Mach 1. Instant bullet holes, no vane clearance issues on the cables or riser like Mathews( even with rest at centershot), set the bow to 72 lbs. a month later still at 72 lbs. shooting the pse made me realize how jumpy Mathews are off the back wall. Needless to say, PSE is my brand now.

So the grip wasn't working for you personally and you did a string swap...That means the bow "sucks?" Nah....mine shoots great. See what you mean about the grip. Nbd. Simple swap. Custom strings on the way as well. Bow is sick. Part of the fun is making it your own.

The REASON ANY company uses a particular ANYTHING is because of COST. If they get it CHEAP and can sell it to you for the same INFLATED GOUGED price that is what they do.
