Honestly, you don't build a fandom like ARMY on music alone. In my opinion, people become true ARMYs when they look past the music and MVs and discover who the members are. A large part of the dedication we feel is based on the behind the scenes content, Run, Bon Voyage, etc. Like you said, there will never be another BTS because you can't replicate the personalities and relationships we are allowed to see due to the massive amount of content.

Ok but on the opposite side of what you said what about the people who fell in love with the music and live performances first? I’ll never forget listening to hyyh + wings and then witnessing their greatness live . Their catalogue of discography alone and then you add the amazing performances it’s like how can you NOT be a fan...Then that makes you want to learn about their personalities and dynamics behind the music...at least for some of us..but I think there is truth to your point in seeing the behind the scenes elevates them. its literally their dedication, youth, humbleness and genuine comradery between eachother that takes them to another place. It’s like you don’t just manufacture that it has to be there because people can tell when you’re faking it. All these things (discography, live performances, team chemistry and fun dynamics makes them untouchable)...like we really get to witness this and it’s amazing

Even Bang PD, the creative mind behind the formation of BTS, said he doesn't know if he can create another BTS. That makes it more especial. 7 extremely talented guys, humble with very good personalities, from all over South Korea and to meet all of them in the same era and become their guardian, Bang PD must have done something great in his past life to witness an extra-ordinary journey that made a great impact not just in Kpop but changing the game around the music scene in the whole world. On this note, I believe it was fate. There can never be another BTS as there wasn't another Beatles or Queen or Michael Jackson. Legends came once in a lifetime.

Army only plays a role because of the artists. If BTS was talented but were jerks or vice versa, there would be no "Army." The reason Army, who is nothing more then a huge diversity of common people loves BTS so much is because of who BTS is.

It's interesting that you mentioned Enhypen and Seventeen because they are with Hybe, the same company as BTS' label. There's another group, TXT, that are younger brothers of BTS, if you will (Jimin calls them the "babies"). But Bang PD and Hybe do not even market these groups as "the next BTS" even though they are on the same label. They are marketing these groups as their own groups and not copycats, which should be the case. And that's what sets Hybe apart from the "big three" of the K-Pop industry. The management truly believes in music first and their artists, rather than all the trappings of the music industry.

THIS! I see so much potential in Hybe groups (TXT, Seventeen, Enhypen, ...) because their music tells stories that have deep meaning and are connected to the feelings and emotions of the members themselves. And it's a huge plus if the group can write and produce themselves. It feels way more real, honest and genuine. I have never really felt excited for debuts of girl groups before, because they always felt intangible. But New Jeans and Le Sserafim already feel so much different from the rest because of Hybe's influence. It's about their personalities, storytelling, talent, artistry and building a community. Only fewn groups outside of Hybe have ever followed some of these aspects, G-Idle and Mamamoo are one's that come to my mind. It's so sad to see that the beauty standard stands high above music and artistry in South-Korea. They really do care only about the looks and want them to have really little say in their own work for as much control as possible to be able to be the puppet master. By the way, there's so much talent in the K-Pop world. Hundreds of labels and groups that never get recognised because the big labels get all the mediaplay. I recommend to check out the unknown because there really is some talent hidden out there, Oneus for example have really great concepts and content.

They lived in one very small room and had to choose between 'catching the bus or 'eating that day or week.'! As well, their values and growth together as a group, then as friends, and then and now as 'brothers for life' ..was forged during these difficult periods, but also because of the respect and love, and faith and belief they have for each other and Bang Si Hyuk...who also believed in them and gave them free reign 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 No one can replicate The Beatles, Elvis, Queen etc...AND no one will every replicate BTS.

35:10 and BTS did not have that guaranteed. They dedicated so much of their lives, their bodies, their livelihood to their music, to their fans, to their group for years and years without the guarantee of global recognition and dominance that they would experience in their future. They had dreams and believed in their dream and worked non-stop for that dream. I know they had fear and doubts in their journey and their perseverance is what made them who they are today. They stayed true to themselves, they grew as artists, they cultivated a community very organically, they went through hardships with ARMY going through a lot too, and they truly did succeed beyond their wildest dreams. They dreamed and became someone else's dream, as Suga has said and as they've said in their lyrics before. BTS really did the impossible by believing in it.

The Army witnessed them growing up. They spent their life communicating their activities. We watched them when they we’re still awkward teenagers, the funny haircut, the styles, etc. They were not afraid to be human … they show their vulnerability. They showed young boys wrestling, crying , being angry and oppressed. All of these the fans experienced their humanity. One thing that I can say that there will be no next BTS, it's bcoz BTS's STORY couldn't be "REPLICATED"... How they struggled since their debut, and their hardships along the way, and surpassed all of those and getting to where they are now... And the army's have seen all of those, and were always there supporting them, and have seen their growth as artists and individuals... The connection between BTS and ARMY is something that u will not find in other groups, frankly speaking... I have not seen an artist that since day one of their career has ever put their fans to the side... They always make sure to connect with the army's no matter how hectic their schedules are... It's the bond between BTS and ARMY that made this whole phenomenon undoubtedly irreplaceable... Not to mention they're talented, dedicated, artistic, hardworking, and genuinely down to earth and humble people... And that's what makes BTS stands out way beyond any other groups out there... And I don't think there will ever be the next BTS, never....

I actually think they got an ultimatum after Dynamite from the gov. If you win a Grammy, you'll be exempt. Butter was specifically set up to win a Grammy. ( one of the producers had mentioned it in an interview) If you look back at how the members reacted after not getting one after Butter and their little interviews after, it seemed they were resigned. Whether it was from "oh another year of not being recognized " or "damn. Well military it is" I don't know, but I have this funky feeling that the Grammy win would equal Olympic win exemption in the gov. eyes.

@@susank.548 There was a video on this literally last night: South Korea will reputedly lose 7B (in USD) next year by BTS's enlistment. I kinda doubt that any entertainment company- or even the three of them together- could make up that shortfall. (And that doesn't even touch what they're losing in influence and soft power. JK, 5B viewers at Fifa? Busan, 50M viewers on Weverse alone?) There isn't much I'd put past any idol company, especially the Big 3, but those three have been promoting BTS exemption in order to try and take advantage of it for their own idols. (BTS paving the way again-!! Not this time, though.) One thing I do hear, is that the current President is very jealous of BTS and resents them for not performing at his swearing-in. So that may have come into play. Besides, the issue of exemption is very touchy with him. He was exempted due to 'vision difficulties', and yet he's never once publicized the results of his vision tests. So when the government polled and got a +60% approval of exemption from the general public, they played up the military-age respondents who were opposed instead of focusing on the overall preference. Whatever the reason, the government's made their bed of nails, and now they've got to lie on it. And here I sit thinking, "Serves them right. Oh, look, it's the 7 again!"

Why BTS is so big and why Big Hit was successful? Big Hit was looking for actual talented individuals. RM and Suga were underground rappers, RM had a passion in poetry (he said rapping is like poetry with rhythm) and Suga had a passion in producing (he joined Big Hit originally to be a producer not be part of a boy band). J-Hope won a national award for dancing and Jimin went to a prestigious dance school for contempoary. Jungkook was scouted by 7 labels, so all these labels saw his talent. V was the only person from his city to advance the audition. Jin was scouted based on his looks but spent countless years practicing singing and dancing. You can tell how much he studied and practiced in the Run BTS episode ep134 where members had to guess the song based on a staff member mimicking the dance - Jin guessed and got most of the points (BTS members even joked that J-Hope should be demoted and the new dance leader should be Jin). These are natural talent that took years to nourish and Big Hit did exactly that by letting the members embrace their talents through their music - they had freedom in producing, writing lyrics, creating choreo and much more.

There could never be "another" BTS because the journey to how they got to where they are now wasn't planned and can't be replicated. I've always disliked the term and idea of fate, but it really feels that way, it's like everything aligned itself in such a way that worked out perfectly. It would take fate for another group to find the same level of success, you can't force something like this. BTS worked hard from the *very* bottom up without expectations to be mega famous, they weren't even trying to achieve that, if you form a group with the goal of trying to do that, it almost never works out because there's no authenticity in that, no sincerity at all.

I am 66 and it was BTS's message to the young people (the future leaders) of the world that drew me. Then the lyrics and their personalities. I like their music but not enough to be a fan. It's the entire package that is inspiring and brings out the best in people. They bring hope in a seemingly broken world.

Absolutely agree that’s there no next BTS, their charisma is so unique, nobody can recreate or improvise it. Their dedication for music and fans is on another level. They created a very strong connection with fans from different counties, even if many of us don’t speak Korean we still enjoy their music and concerts to the fullest. And let me tell you, getting tickets for their concert is very challenging and stressful because they are sold out too fast ….. I adore them as group and as solo artists, they are truly incredible and amazing. I wish that BTS will last forever 💜💜💜💜

Just found your channel and really enjoyed this! Regarding this video: One factor that most forget is not only can you NOT recreate BTS, you CANNOT recreate ARMY!!! The relationship between BTS x ARMY cannot be manufacture. Period. One more thing: At time code 5:20, the suits that BTS are wearing were a reflection of the song "Idol" music video and concept as "Idol" paid homage to both the Korean and African culture. The suit are what BTS wore during the promotion of "Idol" and are made out of African Kente Cloth and African Ankara Fabric!!!💜💜 Only BTS would use traditional Korean instrument to deliver a song influenced by African House Music (which is what "Idol" is). .BoraCity does amazing videos and her research is always on point! Enjoyed this reaction! Thanks!

Adding to the unique confluence of events and circumstances, is ARMY…..the kind of OG fans that believed and fought so hard for the artist & the community….translating in real time, organizing activities in different countries, different fanarts, films, etc….add to that all the new & expanding Armies that continue that tradition plus bring in their own unique talents & passion into the community….that is an even harder thing to duplicate.

That's the only thing they DO need to copy-- The NURTURING of the members that've been picked out with CARE. Honestly, I think that should be the bare freakin' minimum. And you know what? If they do that, the resulting artists won't even BE anything like BTS. They'll be their own people, and they'd actually be able to exist in the same space as BTS. (barring... y'know, the prejudices of the western music industry. But that's a whole 'nother beast.) These artists will be their own people, and they would be GOOD AT IT. This is something that TXT had to contend with, being BTS's little brother group, 'growing up under their big brother's shadow'. And BH never pushed them towards being 'the next BTS because they're in the same label'. They've been allowed to grow to be their own persons, their own artists, and they're so... so different from their contemporaries, in the best possible ways, let alone different from their older brothers. (I don't consider myself a Moa, but I am so damned proud of those boys and how they were allowed to carve out their own path) That's the formula, I think. And kpop as a whole would be healthier if they adopted it. (Again, hopeful that with BTS paving the way, they could also get people to follow THAT trend too. Seems that all the trends that are being followed are so... surface level. Anything deeper than that just isn't supported genuinely by the labels. I feel so bad for artists that want to flourish as artists.)

Which makes me so confused as to why instrumental bands arent more numerous. Like, dont need to invest money on dance teachers and backup dancers. Maybe the "balance" is money for studio space, instruments, and production eq. Like, there's Akmu and Day6, for major labels, but..... not much else, I think.

I totally agree with her that there is no other BTS in this lifetime. I agree that there are some amazing talented groups and solo Artists out there and they did their hard work too but If you ask me they still not in the same position as BTS . The talent in BTS that each member has is unmatchable and personally I think the personalities of the members have a major impact on me and I think on Army's too. And I don't think you can copy their personalities. So , in my opinion all the other groups they are amazing on their own , they have their own strengths but people they are still not BTS. As I always say just like there is only one MICHAEL JACKSON in the world , just exactly like that there is only one BTS in this world and they both are legends and people have to stop calling themselves or their groups or any other Artists BTS. Also, a point she didn't bring up is, you never hear them say they're trying to find the next Elton John, George Michael, Queen, MJ, whatever... Why is that? I feel they're trying to either label BTS with the classic boyband image or they're trying to diminish their achievements as artists. 💜

I'm glad you put this up on KZbin. (I'm really old and sadly Patreon is not in my budget... I make small videos about BTS on YT as a sort of hobby? ) but I have to note that neither you nor the creator of the video mentioned Bang SiHyuk in your explanations. He put BTS together one by one, he nurtured them and believed in them because they weren't in it just for the money. They loved music and felt they had something to say. And he worked with them, helped them write their own music and find their own voice and he suffered with them - he borrowed money from his cousin to finance their early videos. The company was on the brink of bankruptcy before they started to make any money at all. (They were 7 teenage boys living in an apartment with one bedroom). But when he gives speeches about Big Hit or Hybe or interviews about the group, he doesn't take any of the credit. He gives it all to them. There is a half decent video about Bang PD on YT and if you did a reaction about him I think it would attract some good conversation... He really is the father of BTS. Thank you for putting this out here, it was a very nice look at their well deserved recognition in the music industry. 💜😇💜usa

I think a "perfect storm" encapsulates them and their story pretty perfectly. To find another group to capture the kind of attention that they have you have to find and perfect a different niche, a new take on the genre to capture attention. Also I think it's most important to find members who genuinely have respect for and care for each other and the group as a whole. They have to have that burning passion, singleminded drive on their career and talents. I think those are the most important attributes to any long-lasting group

The genuine love for these Guys and their beautiful personalities, the unique qualities of each member, their talents and skills, their artistry which make us Army root for them. Their hardwork, their dedication to their craft, their humility and thankfulness for every milestone they reach and how they deeply cherish the Army.❤ BTS is now more than Kpop, they are a mystery which cannot be unravelled. They are way out of reach and it's really sad to watch these Kpop groups try so hard only to fail in being the next BTS. Just as Suga said they didn't want to be the next Beatles, they wanted to be the BTS of the 21st century, so i'd urge these Kpop groups to be themselves and NOT the next BTS or the next anything because it is crystal clear that there will NEVER be the next BTS.

in my opinion, groups that have the best chance to -ofc not be the Next BTS or whatever bs- carry kpop in an upward trajectory are the ones that are honest in their music/discography. unsurprisingly, hybe groups have the best grasp on this: what i've noticed is that they've extrapolated namjoon's idea of having extended metaphors in their discography to represent the concepts the members are going through in real time. instead of the desert/sea/galaxy, you have enhypen using vampirism as a metaphor for dropping so quickly into the idol life, le sserafim using model/angel iconography to tell their stories, and txt with references to magic as a way to convey how they feel abt their lives as well. it creates a sort of brand for the groups while still being different enough from bts where it doesn't seem like a blatant copy (not to mention the fact that there's direct references too events/members that only these groups have solidify this). i also think groups like stray kids, ateez and gidle are truly making a mark with their members being more hands-on with their careers. all in all, i think 4thh gen groups are in a similar position as 2nd gen groups, where the competition is too high and the market is too saturated for there to be a true standout disruptor. if you think abt it, some of the older 4th gen groups are alr 4 years old, and not a single one is even near the level of 2017 bts (though i also think everything has been pushed back 2+ years bc of covid so i guess we'll have to see if within the next 2ish years there's any level of market disruption that can compare but i doubt it)

Thank you for your reaction. So true what you said about hearing a catchy song and if all they have is an album or ep, one will not engage in a deeply meaningful way. RM and Suga were already writing and producing (in Suga's case) music before their debut and already had an international internet following. When I discovered BTS through two songs, I found that I struck a motherlode of content that included their variety shows, their behind the scenes clips, Bon Voyage, In the Soop etc etc. This immersion creates that engagement with BTS as people you would like to have around in your life, beyond the absolutely wonderful music. And because ARMY sees so much of them, there is no room for faking it, they just come across as authentic and because they're following their own path, they do things that are not predictable like, oh, going off to do their own things and not everything is about music. No wonder ARMY are so devoted. There is no magic switch and other companies should just stop trying to find THE formula - however, that is not how their brain is wired.

Members of BTS never give up and still try to give their best for their ARMY and they love ARMY very much and vice versa. Each member has their own uniqueness and accept each other's weaknesses, strengths, and uniqueness while never stopping to hone their uniqueness without getting bored. THey push and want their new debuted group to be directly at the top. To sell millions directly (for some it works bc of different tactics), to be directly at the top. Bc of their trainee system. Theses Idols are trained for years so they can debut "perfect", in their mind. But they're not, they have to grow and learn through experience. But theeses companies don't let them grow. Even if another k-pop group starts selling on the level of BTS... it will be hard to matchup to the level of influence that BTS has as well as the fact that they were the ones to open the door for all of these other artists to have the opportunity to go global and appeal to more fans worldwide. It wasn't the skills and musicality alone that made BTS go global... it was the sincerity, the organic growth, the underdog story, the passion and desire to inspire the hearts of millions... spreading the right messages in the process. Their music has so much sincerity and more often than not the messages that relate to them specifically aren't just empty words. Just like RM's recent 'indigo' album contained nothing but all of the emotional stress and burdens that we already knew he had been enduring BECAUSE of things that they've been saying for years. It is because of that sincerity, the willingness to put their hearts into the music that makes it feel that ARMY is going on a journey with them, sharing in their Highs and Lows. An amazing journey and experience at that.

BTS are an underdog story, until there’s another group that faces similar struggles and are this genuine, there won’t be another BTS.

BTS is different. they touch lives and souls through their music, lyrics, and genuinenity and that is hard beat. once you got to know them, you can never stop knowing them deeper and even loving them as if they are more than your family.
