Why Trusting Hyundai Is Dangerous

The KDM community is a tough one, but there's a reason why i'm hesitant of the brand and I don't think it deserves to be labeled as a "hater." From the original days of quality defect issues, to the brand not being able to hold a trim package long enough for the aftermarket car community to feel like it would stay around, Hyundai hasn't always been kind to the US market. If that's not enough, with rumors already spreading that the Kona N will be discontinued due to low sales, one can't help but wonder if Hyundai will ACTUALLY keep the N line around long enough to enjoy. But what are your thoughts? Let me know and of course don't forget to subscribe - bit.ly/3kXgWr0

I have owned Hyundais since the late 1990's, and my ownership experience with Hyundai has been and still is great. I currently own a 2020 Elantra, and actually this is my 3rd Elantra - all 3 were and are reliable, so no issues there. But I also realize that the criticism of Hyundai is well-deserved, being that Hyundai recommends that owners of certain Hyundais should not park their cars in enclosed areas or close to structures is idiotic. Also, the issue some of Hyundai and Kia vehicles not having engine immobilizers is just another example of Hyundai's stupidity. Even though neither of these issues was or is an issue with the model I drive, the reality is Hyundai should have been much more pro-active in resolving and minimizing these issues for their customers. Hyundai has come a long way, and has made strides, and has progressed to be a good brand. But, as a current Hyundai owner, they still should have done better. That being said, I think I am going to give Subaru a try next time, or possibly go back to Mazda. Another contributing reason why I might not buy another Hyundai- if Hyundai sticks with their radical weird looking front end of the current Elantra, there's no way in hell I would buy a car that fugly.

N mode is a blast and when in eco mode on a flat highway at 65MpH I get 34MpG all day long. The dealer experience has been great too. No regrets. Honestly, pricing point is way better than type r, gti, even M2 competition in 2 stepped up performance car. But dont let that price and brand name fool you. One thing i can tell you is, Hyundai is ahead of any Japanese cars these days. Lexus? Try Genesis and talk about it. Reliability? Its really about the same. But hyundai warranty shines even more. I know people complain about the warranty but thats their own fault that they didn't change oil often and didnt keep any of maintenance records(well, thats because they didn't!)

Not wrong at all. I wanna say that Hyundai and kia only makes cars to get a good crash test scores on their cars. I bet you will get pissed off when you see the material of the chassis. They literally make driver side and passenger side differently on cheap cars like sonata, avante(or elantra) and ect. Side pole, side impact, roof and lastly small overlap crash test are all tested on the drivers side. Now if you are a ceo who has to make your car look safe to sell more and make it cheaper, why won’t you only make the driver side safe and make bit more cheaper at passenger side. Hyundai actually does that. And…I can give you review video about hyundai and kia chassis blueprint. It’s basically okay-ish design but they should still give the same protection to the passenger side like volvo.

Honestly I agree, I love my Elantra, but there are things about it that are disappointing. I used to have a 2015 Ford Fusion and that thing was a tank, and personally I feel they built the interiors a lot better in the ford. The Elantra is a lot more fun to drive and has a flashier look, but I can’t help but feel that they cheaped out on certain aesthetic prices, because they know they can take advantage of the current consumer market. I bought the Elantra brand new and it didn’t even come with floor mats, wtf?! All in all though I love her and treat her like my baby, can’t stand corporate greed tho.

Still on original brakes running good, put new tires on it though (factory Khumo tires suck) put on Michilen Defenders. Gets great mileage of about 38-40 mpg. Only wish is it had a larger fuel tank, 11.4 Gallons goes quick wen driving 80 miles per day for work. Mine has normal analog guages and a small touch screen, the CVT is mid i wish it had a traditional 8 speed auto, but it has plenty of power. Though i am trading it in for a 2024 Camry SE AWD, I give the 2021 Elantra SEL a 8.5/10

I expressed this exact view on Alex's Hyundai Elantra N review. Hyundai and Kia have had very turbulent histories over the last decade. New models coming in and replacing older models. It seems that every few years a model gets cut after just being introduced. I hear that Kia could be ditching the Stinger soon due to poor sales. Which is a smart business move, but hurts brand loyalty among people who've bought Stingers.

@@hieayu7773 Oh man. I think Nissan is in even worse shape than Hyundai or Kia from a brand image perspective. The new Z is a bright spot for them, but that seems to be about the only bright spot. The Altima and Maxima marques have become shells of what they used to be. Their crossovers and SUVs are just ok vehicles. There's nothing there to make anyone walk away from a different brand to buy a Nissan. I just don't see anything in the Nissan line up that makes me want to take a serious look at their cars. They seem to have fallen into the same trap that Mitsubishi fell into around 2008. They are not making cars that people desire (outside of the new Z), but rather they make cars that are marginal and are competing on price alone. Mitsubishi was notorious in the mid 200's for financing anyone with a pulse to buy one of their cars just to make sales and gain market share. It backfired on them when the predominantly younger buyers defaulted on their loans and the cars were repossessed. This strategy basically pushed Mitsubishi to the bottom of the barrel. I can see the same thing happening to Nissan.
