Why Turok: Dinosaur Hunter Is Such A Great Game - PC, N64, Switch and XBox Review

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is a first-person shooter from 1997 that has proven to still be a great game years later. Available on N64, PC, Switch and XBox One, this Dinosaur action game comes with loads of good fun. I can't recommend this 90's masterpiece highly enough.

Just go get the remastered versions on Steam! There’s a sale on the 25th, pick them up! It’s very worth it and doesn’t need a reboot or remake!

Honestly Turok Has so much Potential for a new game ,Tv show for me at least I always wanted a turok son of stone series on Ethier on Adult Swim or Netflix, my interpretation of Turok takes more from the original comics and Turok evolution, with more dinosaurs, and so much empiricist on Native American culture,. Now of course it wouldn't be turok with all of the monsters ,aliens, demons, Reptalians, and Evil Lords.. and now After watching genndy tarkovsky's Primal i think it's time for Turok to Make a great comeback again., and I'm sure alot people will love to see it.

I played this on the N64. I got it without the box in a used game bin at a Food-4-Less. I don't remember if ever I finished it but I do remember using the in-game cheats (those were the days).

I really enjoy all the Turok titles book comics and games. Turok Evolution I believe had the triple minigun and like a mini nuke, lots of fun.

I'm 48 years old i have always gamed far back as Pong Atari 2600 and 2700 but Turok I've always wanted to play it ,but for no reason except I guess forgetting about it I always wanted to play it ,maybe now's the time that's cool I didn't know it's on the Switch I have a Switch OLED it's the only Nintendo product I own nice I'll definitely be picking up Turok 👍 👍

Turok Dinosaur Hunter is an all time classic! Pure pulp goodness filled with awesome weapons, crazy enemies, fun levels, and all to an adrenaline-pumping jungle beat.

I picked up a copy of this game for the Nintendo 64 at a local comic con near me on June 5, 2016. Which is 6 days before the 23rd anniversary of the original theatrical release of the original “Jurassic Park”. I also picked up GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 on the same day. I got to meet WWE Superstar The Boogeyman and I went to the comic con with my now ex girlfriend. Since then, I’ve met many more celebrities and I happen to be engaged to a much better woman. I remember negotiating with my parents with trading extra work and chores around/outside the house for the Turok walkthrough soft-cover book! I was having a hell of a time trying to find the minigun, it was so cool! This brings me back to some of the best times of my childhood that I've all but forgotten, until watching this video! It's amazing how much we've forgotten about as we get older but the info is still there in the memory banks, just no longer on the "RAM" drive so to speak... LoL! It took seeing this video to unlock those memories, if they weren't help out by being triggered, I don't know if I'd ever remembered? Interesting 🤔. Anyways, this game was groundbreaking at the time if its release. Oh yeah, I played my share of Goldeneye as well but this one was my first N64 game that really got me hooked (outside of the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time).

I loved that first Turok! I remember not liking part 2 as much but it was mainly because they changed Turoks look. Other than that it was a really cool franchise!

I’ve played the N64 Turok games. I loved that the protagonists were Native American, the variety of weapons, and that the game had dinosaurs, but that’s kind of where the charm ended for me, unfortunately. I really, really wanted to love these games, especially based upon the concept, but once I played them I always had this underwhelming feeling. For me, I think one of the largest drawbacks were the level designs. They seemed lazy, uninspired, like a copy and paste texture and landscape party. There wasn’t enough variation in elevation, landmarks, trees, or architecture to distinctively know where I was or where I had been. I had the feeling that I was navigating a hedge maze for basically every game. In games like GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark, there were usually enough purposely placed landmarks, differences in architecture, lighting and elevation to always tell what part of the level I was in and where I had already been. Each level felt like a unique episode or chapter, and not so much like another room or outdoor area full of more mazes like Turok did. The jumping/platforming mechanic just didn’t work for me- sorry:( I get that they were going for a first person shooter, but with a 3rd person/platforming/Tomb Raider type of feel, but due to graphical and processing limitations, it may have been better off as a 3rd person game, honestly. I guess, in a word, Turok was disappointing. The team that made it had some great ambitions, aimed for the stars but ended up only landing on the moon. I am really glad to hear that so many others truly love the Turok game series and that it has brought them so much joy. Afterall, that’s what gaming is all about in the end. Would my life be as fulfilling had I never played the Mario, Mario Kart, Mario Party, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, StarFox series and numerous fighting game series, absolutely not!

Got this when it first came out. Still some of the best fluid moving character models in game. Xbox has the whole trilogy available out now. Hopefully they remaster rage wars at some point. Totally shocked turok 3 got a remaster; its like a new game.
