Tywin definitely had a lot of bad luck throughout the war of five kings and the lead up to it but he also made some bad mistakes like killing Ellia martell when she would’ve made a much more valuable hostage, but in the end he did still win the war.

a hostage for who? elias death was basically at the end of the war when rhaegar was dead and aerys forces were destroyed

@@balenciiii The dornish who only sent a part of their forces and is one of the regions basically impossible to conquer and hold plus with her children being alive and as hostages in the red keep viserys can’t claim to be the rightful ruler since aegon is alive similar to what was done with daemon the 2 blackfyre after the whitewalls conspiracy and you could even marry Joffrey to rheanys to lend more legitimacy to the Baratheon Lannister regime
