I always thought they should have given the symbiote its own trilogy. 4th film would have been Peter wearing the suit, 5th film would have been Spidey vs Venom, and 6th film would have had Carnage as a villain.
@AronGKatzАй бұрын
Yup Eddie Brock also needed more time to develop. His story made no sense
@siegfriedc2332Ай бұрын
I remember someone suggesting this way back when; have Spiderman 3 be the end of the "Green Goblin" trilogy, then begin the 4th movie with Peter bonding with the symbiote, etc. Would've probably worked out better in the end. Though I did enjoy Spiderman 3 back in the day, I did always question the need for Sandman when they already had Venom. Definitely agree with the critics saying there were too many rogues. At least we can hope Tom's Spidey gets a chance to have a movie with Venom as the sole baddie one day.

There are people in the comments who are going to takeaway the message from this film that "This is why you don't listen to the fans." But that is absolutely the wrong lesson to learn. The lesson you SHOULD learn from this is "Don't make people write stories for characters they are not passionate about."
@cutsceneYTАй бұрын
LUKE: Exactly this. Spider-Man 3 didn't work because Venom was in it. It didn't work because it had too many cooks, and a chef who didn't fully believe in the recipe.
@LunacorvaАй бұрын
@@cutsceneYT It's the same mistake that ruined Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. Nolan wanted to right Batman instead of Superman, and Snyder wanted to write Rorsharch instead of Batman. They weren't invested in the characters they were actually writing for.
@Double-R-NothingАй бұрын
I've accepted that we'll never see an official extended cut of Spider-Man 3, but damn if I don't want these deleted scenes released to the public, especially that alternate Venom death. Besides, fan edits are a thing, and talented people with Blender are more than capable of at least somewhat finishing the VFX
@zedja71Ай бұрын
While I don’t think you should force a director to make parts of a film they aren’t passionate about, I do think there was a sort of stubbornness and lack of an open mind from Raimi that hindered the movie overall. Raimi claims that he connects to Spider-Man villains due to their relatability and “having a good heart” beneath the villain character, and that he couldn’t find that in Venom. Which is insane to me, because this is why Venom became so popular. You didn’t have to look very far in media to find examples of Venoms good side, from the Lethal Protector comics to the Spider-Man PS1 game, there were PLENTY of examples of Venom having the same humanity in him that Raimi found in his favorite villains. Raimi claiming he couldn’t see it with Venom is baffling, and makes me think he must’ve just read Venoms origin story and decided his opinions on the character then and there. Which is disappointing. This feels like the rare occasion where the producer has a better finger on the pulse of the fans than the director did. I as a 10 year old was so excited to see this movie solely for Venom, because Venom was my favorite. I can say with 100% certainty that I didn’t give a crap about Vulture, and wouldn’t have cared nearly as much if he were the replacement villain. Does that mean I think Raimi should’ve been forced to put Venom in when it compromised his creative vision? No. But I do wish he maybe would’ve had more of an open mind to the suggestion.
@creed8712Ай бұрын
Categorically what Sony wanted from the film was ultimately what they got. It was the most profitable and it made them a ton of money and even after the fact venom proved to be extremely profitable. What’s more is that as far as the themes of the film the black suit worked great and I think if he had cared they should have put the symbiot on Harry or something
@Double-R-NothingАй бұрын
He didn't want to do Venom because he *knew* he couldn't do the character justice. He didn't have the connection that he almost certainly had with Vulture. Thus, he was more confident he could bring out the full potential of him. If you look at the storyboards for Spider-Man 4, Vulture was gonna be VICIOUS, easily the most brutal and terrifying villain in the series.
@KoolKeithProductionsАй бұрын
@Double-R-Nothing to me it kinda felt like Sam was pouting. "You're making me put Venom in MY movie, so now I'm gonna do him dirty..." Let me say this, when l first saw SM3, I loved it. Hell, I STILL love it, but I do recognize now how poorly Venom was portrayed. They definitely needed to make this film a 2-parter. It's crazy they didn't think it would work in 2007, because they didnt want fans feeling like they saw half a movie, but the MCU would do that exact same thing in 2018 and 2019 to huge success.
@Double-R-NothingАй бұрын
@KoolKeithProductions One of the reasons they didn't go for it was, they didn't know where to split it. Which I don't buy. You end part 1 with the transformation, leave audiences with the cliffhanger, then have part 2 be all about Venom

Back then, after an emotional breakup, I decided to see this movie in the theatre. I always was a big Spidey fan, so I was sure this would cheer me up. Well, it didn't. Not only was the movie not that great, half the movie was about Peter and MJ's relationship issues. I left the theatre more depressed than I felt going in

I am a Fan of Venom in the comic books. When I saw Spiderman 3, Venom felt out of place. Also the whole visual of Venom looked bad to me also. And the Final Death scene also seemed off. I had no problem with Sandman, or Goblin.. and I feel like if Venom had been removed from the script, And Vulture had been there in his place, maybe it could have been better. Then again.. I'm glad I never had to find out. That movie is for ever dead to me as being a bad Spiderman movie that shoe horned Venom into it.

While I actually enjoy Topher Grace's performance as Eddie Brock, I, too, have to agree that he was a miscast. Would've been better if they had gone with someone who actually looked like a truly definitive Eddie Brock. The blonde hair, the sheer size of a bodybuilder, a douchey personality, you name it.

A well researched and informative video! The Raimi trilogy are my all time favorite films,and I've been a massive fan of Venom since his creation. And to this day(mainly because of Venom)Spider-man 3 remains the most anticipated movie of my life. I followed that film like a religion! I've seen it 8 times in the theater. And for me.the movie is flawed,sure. But in no way do I find it a bad movie. In fact,I think it's damn good. I am,however disappointed with how Venom was handled. I always wondered,well if Sam didn't know much about Venom and didn't understand the character,then why didn't others help him? Surely,other writers or producers knew about Venom? Hell,even Topher Grace was a massive fan. Yet,no one could even mention that Venom refers to himself as "We?" Even if you couldn't fit Venom in and developed as he should be,you still could get some of the simple things right...which they didn't. Still,though. I loved Spider-man 3 when I first saw it in 2007,and I still love it today. Always will.

Seriously, why are people so snobby when it comes to comic books!? They’re just as much a viable form of story-telling as any other medium.
@isaiahsturgis5037Ай бұрын
I personally believe this film is severely overhated, but it had its fair share of problems, and Venom was one of them. Eddie Brock motive was not justified and he was making a fake article of Spider man all because of validation, he felt less than a broken and lost man, and more of a Whiny loser

It is proven that Sonys stubborness to bring Venom at the wrong time has always been a bad idea. Spiderman 3 (even though i love it) and all the Venom films are proof. Yes the Venom trilogy made money but none of them were critically acclaimed as good as Spidermans films or even the third
@EnigmaticVayneАй бұрын
Making money is the #1 goal of a movie. And the audience scores are high
