By great at foreign policy, do you mean Reagan outspent the USSR (by bringing the US defense budget up to fully 28% of all public expenditure, and 6% of the entire US GDP)? You can call that good or bad, but it certainly didn't solve the Russia problem, as we can see Russia is actually doing more world destabilization today.

Ronald Reagan domestic policy did not lead to the 2008 market crash, this is a myth perpetuated by political philosophy br@t$. - the housing policy was government funded and mandated from LBJ and the great society. The Government subsidized and mandated the bad loans not the free market. - Fanny May and Freddy Mac were government run companies . - the creation of Morgage back Securities and CDOs were created in the 1970's before Ronald Reagan. - the Banks were mandated and incentivized to make those loans by the Government, if the banks had been smaller they still would have failed because the bad mortgages were always going to fail regardless of how big or small or quantity of banks existed. - Ronald Reagan took America from being broke and poor from two decades of mismanagement and made everyone prosper through his policies, leftist want to pretend like the 1960s and 1970's were good times for the Middle class? - Bill Clinton was very much a lame duck on domestic policy because he had a Republican congress which set much of the Agenda in the 1990s - Ronald Reagan and Milton Friedman would never have approved of the lax and loose monetary policy Under Bush (or Obama). I don't know how Reagan could be blamed for Bushes screw ups, especially if they would have explicitly opposed the actions of Bush and Greenespan. Since stable monetary policy is a fundamental of actual "Reaganomics". - The banks still have not been broken up. - Banking is the most regulated business in the world, which gate keeps new competitors from entering the market. Reagan (or Friedman)never would have approved of the Obama (or Bush) Spending. - NIMBY and HOAs deserve much more hate and Blame for housing problems than Republicans or Democrats. HOAs and NIMBY are also at their worst in hard Blue states. Today Americans pay nearly 40% in taxes... but Supposedly Reagan is to blame for Americans current domestic problems. according to woke studies and Political philosophy br@t$. - hardcore Republican states (tea party, freedom caucus, pro free market states) are the places that prospered the most over the last 40 years, and over the last 15-20 years are only places to have any prosperity in the US while people flee Leftist $H!t hole states. Young people need to stop listening to activist who never worked a real job and academics in the humanities who indoctrinate them. Facts are we need Mr. Reagan back more than ever. For his domestic policy. (I may post this twice because TY algorithm has been Hiding debating comments)

I remember Reagan by remembering the rocket attacks at my home, the school in which my mother taught and the market places where we shopped. I remember him from the explosives placed in stationary items and children's toys that injured many. I remember Reagan's bicycle bombs and backpack bombs. No, I like the America as is today. I like them to be in constant disgrace, infighting and in decline.

Most people don't realize that there were 2 Carter presidencies. The first 3 years which were liberal and full of failed policies and then after the Soviets invaded Afghanistan there was the conservative, proto-Reagan last year in which many of the policies that Reagan would be famous for started with Carter such as the military build up.
@snackplissken8192
@snackplissken8192 4 күн бұрын
You also have to consider that legislative majorities can override a presidential veto and cause presidents to be remembered for policies they opposed. President Clinton signed NAFTA, GATT, and welfare reform because Newt Gingrich nationalized the midterm legislative elections through his Contract with America and turned the public heavily in favor of policies that Democrats opposed. Similarly, Regan had to deal with a Democratic legislature who killed many of the president's campaign promises or forced compromises. US presidents are most likely to implement their own policies in the first half of their term if they ride a legislative majority into office, though the legislature's increasing delegation to executive branch bureaucracies and increased use of executive orders is starting to change that balance.
