Now that I have given birth to my 5th child, the biggest question I am asked is, “So, are you done having kids now?” “How do you know when you’re done having kids?”
In this video I am answering our reasoning for having a big family in this day and age and why we don’t use conventional forms of birth control and instead use Natural Family Planning (NFP) ❤️

Girl. I always wanted to be a wife and mother. I mostly kept this to myself as I've had family, friends, and even a therapist disapprove. I didn't start trying until my husband and I married. I feel personally that stability is important for children. After 7 years of marriage and thousands spent on infertility treatments, we gave up. Started looking into adoption options. We just found out last week I'm pregnant. That's how I found your videos. I'm so nervous and excited. Watching your videos is hugely helpful. I don't know if it's crazy hormones, but I become a crying mess watching y'all. But not sad! I'm so glad you have this channel. Thank you! ❤

Hubby is in his 50s and not slowing down of anything he has more life to give. Each a blessing. Just remember when baby gets here let the dishes pile up let the laundry pile up it can get done later but they grow so fast so just take your time living and holding them. You've got this. You've waited your whole life it seems and I'm so excited for you two. Wishing you 3 all the best!!!!

I’m 1 of 6 and big families are beautiful. My husband and I always wanted a big family, but struggled with infertility for nearly a decade. Despite doctors advising us to do IVF, we decided to place our hopes and dreams in God’s hands. With a full heart I can say we finally have a baby boy and hope that one day God will bless us again with another child. His timing is always right that I know. I dont know what could be your issue.. inform yourself!! We are so poisoned (air water food......) causing hormonal and organs dysfunctions. Dont stop to prepare your body while conceiving by taking folic acid, eating organic.. Many women got pregnant after hysterography. I have a friend trying for years, they did tests and found that her bf had bacterias killing his "seeds".. Women bodies arent always the cause of infertility in a couple.

My husband and I are Catholic and after using natural family planning for the first year of our marriage, I'm now 5 months pregnant with our first baby. It’s true! As a mom of five and hopefully more, my biggest advice to moms of any number is…ditch your phone as much as you can. I pretty much have stopped using mine unless my kids are asleep (magically they all went down with minimal chaos tonight 😂) You’ll never look back and wish you’d used it more. While it’s great to get messages out and connect with people, don’t ever let it take priority over the people in your home. And it’s too easy for that to happen without us realizing it. It’s been about a year of digital minimalism relationship with my husband and kids is so much better with no more screens during the day! Keep on keeping on, mamas!

I've been feeling God nudging me away from my phone for a while. I used to be someone who was always on the computer, in my youth and even as a mother. I hardly use it anymore these days. I don't use social media. God has really been putting it on my heart that it's just a distraction, and I know it's true. Some days are better than others, the days I don't use it much I get SOOO much more done around the house, have better conversations with my kids, do better thinking about the way the house is run, ect.

The fact you guys grew up in poverty because of selfish decisions by adults is the reason ppl raise an eyebrow at big families. Even besides monetarily, every valuable resource, including attention, is severely limited if it’s being divided several different ways. This is not judgement it’s fact.
@echoseeker9178
@echoseeker9178 10 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing :) I grew up the third of four kids with a similar story. People who say it’s selfish to have kids when you don’t have loads of money either don’t know anything about God’s provision, or don't believe a poor child’s life can be a better one than a rich one’s. So what if my parents had to work harder than others to feed us? So what if we got hand-me-downs and couldn’t afford fancy dance or martial arts lessons? I was loved by my parents and my siblings, and that’s worth a lot more than financial security. Because of my parents’ love, the world was my oyster and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

I was raised in a big Catholic family and while my life is taking a different path I vividly remember strangers bombarding my mother (sometimes my dad, but usually my mom 🙄 ugh misogyny) with questions like these. Depending on her mood she’d find a witty and polite way to say “eff off” or just ignore them. But she (and my dad) ALWAYS made sure that us kids knew that we were wanted, we were loved, they considered us a gift from God and inspired us to see and value each of our siblings as sacred gifts. My life choices have been very different from my parents but to this day my siblings are the absolute BEST part of my life. We’ve had our ups and downs, we’re not perfect of course. But I’ve learned so much about life through my siblings. Thank you for your page Chrissy. It’s so nostalgic for me to see you raise your family similarly to how I was raised. i think the only ones who actively criticize large families are people who grew up in them and weren’t nurtured the way they deserved because they were too many. and i feel like they should be able to do that. i personally think the religious reasoning is weird, but i very rarely voice that and mind my own business. as long as people are nice and they treat people who make other choices with respect they can do whatever they want.

You really did keep it real in this video, and it's refreshing and I love it. I am muslim and I believe too that children are a wonderful blessing. If anyone wishes to have 0, only 1 or multiple children, it is their choice. I hope the people sending you questions regarding your family planning are doing it by plain curiosity and don’t mean more than that (although it has nothing to do with them still). I love your videos because I wish to have 4-5 children, God-willing. Your videos and tips are very helpfull to normalize having a larger-ish family but also just sharing real knowledge, advice, worries, etc. You seem like a loving parent and I think it's great that you take ownership over raising your children and not having the oldest raise their sibling, although it’s normal to expect that they do help with cleaning after themselves and clean up from time to time. Can’t wait to apply the helpful tips I learned from your videos and I am looking forward to continue following your journey.

I’m in the middle of a pack of 6 kids and never got individual attention from my parents. They were too busy, overwhelmed and frankly, fed up. My main memory of growing up was all the fighting among us siblings. So for everyone espousing how wonderful big families are, maybe you should make sure all your siblings feel the same way.

I'm sorry this was your experience. That's definitely not every family and it doesn't have to be yours. Cognitive behavioral therapy and then honestly finding Catholicism helped me a ton. My mom worked 2+ jobs from the time I was 6 weeks old because my dad and then my brother and sister's dad were deadbeats. Now I get to be the mom she couldn't due to circumstance (she was a fantastic mom when she was around). We only have 2, but if our infertility continues, we're going to adopt. You don't have repeat history. You can always do it differently. ❤

@@mamatlacuacha agree 100%! I have three sons and have intentionally raised them much differently than I was. They are all into adulthood and we have loving, strong relationships. So I must have done something right! And I’ve had much therapy to work on the residual effects of my childhood. My parents weren’t bad, the family dynamic just wasn’t good for me. I’m so glad you’ve found healing in adulthood too!

Love love love this!!! My thoughts exactly!!! After our 4th was born at home I looked at my husband- “kid you not” (HA) by the next day and told him we have to have another! When my midwife came over the next day to my house for postpartum check up I told her we will be calling you hopefully within the next year or two LOL! I can’t imagine never having another precious child. (We both originally wanted 4 when we got married lol). We couldn’t imagine life without our sweet 5th. She’s our curly hair green eyed sweetie pie! Then we had a beautiful welcomed surprise 4 years later with #6 5 months ago!! Upcoming first time mom here and atheist. My only belief in this regard is people should choose what is best for them and their life. I'm an absurdist and utilitarian so my philosophical guideline is to do what makes you happy while trying to optimize what is best for everyone around you as well. You should feel free to live your best life. I only plan on having 2 babies, but I would have a clan like yours in a heartbeat if I could financially get around it. I have used IUDs before and will again because that is what I feel is best for me. Everyone should choose what is best for them and you have helped my pregnancy journey/transition to motherhood so much already with the experience you gained by having your 5 children. Thank you.

Thank you for giving your objective feelings ❤ it’s very personal. And not casting judgement on others or their parenting is extremely important. I had a former friend who helped me with my overwhelming situation because I had chosen to give birth. I let my daughter go to be raised by an aunt and uncle who are like you, stable, organized and well socialized. In other words, what children need: structure. I didn’t want to. She helped me decide this, And she later on told me I was too lazy to be a mother. Depression is why I was “lazy”, I was in an abusive relationship. Those words never left me.

I appreciate your thoughts on this. It's hard to find other families that believe similarly. We're so busy trying to control every aspect in our modern lives, that we rarely think to give God full control. If we did, I think we would find that the results would be full of blessings! My husband and I have only been married two and a half years, already have two kids, and plan to have as many as the Lord gives. People think we are crazy 😂 but the way I look at it, if we would say no to anymore kids at some point, we are saying no to a blessing of a child that God wants to give us. If we had waited several years to have kids, we wouldn't have the two little blessings we have now. God knows best, and he won't give us more than we can handle. I appreciate your perspective on this, and your willingness to share!

I watched your videos while I was pregnant with my second and before I had her I longed to have as many children as you! I have loved the idea of a big family, but at the very least having 3. I had a second csection, and during I found myself thinking, I don’t think I can do this again. I struggled a bit in that first week she was home and I kind of expected the path to be easier since I have already have my son, but it still was a big adjustment. Then, when she was 3 weeks old, I got incredibly sick with pneumonia. She never got sick thankfully, but caring for a new baby, my 6 year old son and being on the brink of hospitalization was an experience even with my very supportive husband. It really scared me and I don’t think I am cut out for being a mom of a big family. The responsibility is immense and I really take my hat off to moms with large families because just having the two of them has been so difficult for me. I’m sad and disappointed in myself for not being that mom that can handle a large family, but I am also blessed with two beautiful babies and they will be everything for me. Thank you for your videos ♥️ they are truly inspiring!

As someone who is still undecided on children, what I worry about the most is: 1) so many children already being here with no loving families, 2) environmental impact, 3) bringing a soul into a world where I can't necessarily guarantee their safety, or be able to calm all of their pain or terror if they end up having to confront existential dread and some other things to the extent I have. I share the first two just because when people say it's a personal choice - it is, and also, sometimes when we reflect on something in its entirety, individual decisions across our population can and do add up and can affect the collective. Blessings to you and your family though. You seem like a really cool person, and you get to speak and live your truth.

This woman is beautiful, and these children are lucky to have such a loving and dedicated mother. However, I do feel that at a certain point, too many children makes it impossible to fully nurture and provide emotionally for all of their needs. I respect this wonderful mom so much. I just hope the future provides all of them with everything they need for a thriving childhood and ample time to nurture their individual development. There's only so much time and energy one parenting team can give. At some point, there will be less to go around, to be able to give every child the individual nurturing they deserve. I hope that never happens.

So grateful for my babies- they are such gifts!! But I definitely think God isn’t upset with me for wanting to be done having children. I enjoy Chrissy’s content, but some in the comments concern me with a very rigid mindset about what “God’s plan” is. Because it’s up to the individual to seek His plan for their life- having a million kids isn’t a command. If you want to and it’s a joy for you and not hard on your body etc then that’s awesome! But it’s also awesome if you don’t want to keep having children because of whatever reason you have discerned for yourself and your family.

Thank you so much Chrissy!! I’m Catholic and just got married and I wonder how many kids I want/will have, but the truth is it’s up to God❤️ I want as many as I can support and give a wonderful life. You’re an inspiration

I love this so much. I’m pregnant with my first, and while this pregnancy has been less than ideal (I’ve been sick for the past 17 weeks lol) I am so excited to finally be a mom, something I’ve felt that God has been calling me to do. When we were getting married everyone would ask how many kids we wanted and I’ve always said 4. I came from a family of 4 kids and I can’t imagine having a small family myself. But ultimately we know that gods plan for us will reveal itself and I’m just thankful everyday that he’s blessed us with one healthy pregnancy already and I can’t wait to see what the rest of his plan is ❤❤❤

Congratulations I just had my 5th last month on the 26th and I wouldn't have it any other way his a blessing to our family and I couldn't see myself without Gideon he is our 4th son he has a sister who's 2yrs old.....I've always wanted a large family, but never dreamed it would be like this it's amazing and so much fun every one of our children have their own personality and are so different in every way it's a true blessing to be their mom and watch them all grow up

Thank you for saying this even though it’s incredibly triggering for me. Growing up women didn’t really have a choice; have as many children as “god will allow” completely disregarding your own health, the rest of your family’s health, and certainly not caring one bit about your own mental health. We were bred to be baby factories and our worth was connected to it. I’m terrified of having children as a result but I’m glad this works for you and wish you all the best 💕🦋
