Why We Don't Want to Spend Mother's Day With Our Kids!

I feel like I’m always sharing personal information in my comments but I feel safe here, I guess. 😂😂 When I was going through my divorce, the mediator was dividing up the holidays and came to Mother’s Day, and said, of course Mom is going to want to have the kids and we will do likewise for Father’s Day. My kids were at the time one and three months. This meant that for the next few years, I spent every Mother’s Day just like every other day taking care of the wants and needs of my children. It wasn’t until a couple years ago that my kids became old enough to understand that they should be doing something to celebrate me and decided to make me breakfast in bed, after which, I would have to clean up and even as recently as last year as soon as they had brought whatever it was dry cereal or toast to my bed before I could even put it in my mouth, my son turned to me and ask mama what are you going to make us for breakfast. I say all of this to say, I completely understand, what you guys are saying about this. As much as I love my children, I would love for Mother’s Day to be a day where somebody in my life says let me take the kids off your hands. Go take a nap or go someplace and pamper yourself or take yourself to the movies or take yourself to lunch or dinner or whatever it is. It is an exhausting day for me.

For the mothers who no longer have their mother, for the mothers who’ve lost their baby/babies, for the mothers grieving for what their child/children are going through, for the mothers with chronic illnesses and special needs, for the mothers who can’t see their babies, for the mothers who don’t have the emotional/physical/financial support of their partners…. Your are not forgotten. You are STRONG. You are amazing. You are loved. Your WILL get through this. 🙏🏽

This mother's day is really painful for me. I lost my mom and sister 17yrs ago. And that changed the meaning of the day for me. But... This year is bitterly hard because I lost my last daughter almost 2months ago. She was only 27yrs old. I'm grieving so hard right now. It takes everything in me to be strong and show up for her 5yr old daughter that she left behind.

I get it! My wife’s birthday is today and Mother’s Day is tomorrow. My daughter and I asked her what she wants to do and she said, “I don’t want to think or have to do.” “I want you and Ally (my daughter) to be my personal genie.” I thought it was a set up for failure but I get it. Tam and Tess, I feel the same way - to have a day where you can just stop to literally smell the roses, enjoy a cup of tea/coffee without rushing or putting a time on it...I love my hubby and our 2 boys beyond words, however, the invisible load Tami mentioned is so real and many of us (Moms) manage it everyday with full-time jobs. We are mothers 24/7!! On my Mother’s Day it is our day to relax and do nothing/something on our own. Yes we love our family, but on this day we just want to enjoy a few hours by ourselves. I don’t feel guilty at all!!!

I do that as a grandmother, plan school uniforms, make sure sneakers and shoes clean, hair cut, homework done, projects do, exam prep, nails clipped etc etc my daughter's work is very demanding so i just do.

Ladies what an awesome episode. Happy Mother’s Day !! A mother job is never done. We are designed to build , love , support and of course show up even when we not needed. I have the same relationship with my second daughter and what I find is her behavior sometimes reminds me of me and sometimes we can’t see it but we see it as negative. Atlas will be there for you when he’s grown and the others will be too but he will be that one to support you because of his compassionate love he has for you. He’s special and I love him from the very first vlogs back in 2020 I saw some of the negative comments for him but I knew he’s going to be a exceptional young man. Love him to pieces. Wow, honestly your mother is so blessed to have such wonderful endearing daughters!! My mother passed 7 years ago and i miss her dearly every single day but i am blessed to have 3 amazing boys who warm my heart, raising them in the UK with my husband and i have no parents is so hard as mother in law lives in Jamaica. But i give thanks and glory to God everyday because i was blessed to be raised to an adult by my mother and it helped me to be the mother i am today. Happy Saturday Tami and Tessie when my daughter was young my Mom would come get my daughter and give me a gift card and I would go buy me something and get me a bite to eat. Go home and enjoy my privacy and my food then I would go back to my Moms and her and I would cook a meal for the family and finish celebrating the day together. Now my daughter is grown and I live with her and she lets me have my private time and then she takes me to dinner and we enjoy our time together. My daughter is a true blessing and I thank God everyday for all my blessings. Great topics ladies.

I used to plant my spring flowers on Mother’s Day. I never entered the house except for meals I did not prepare. I answered no questions and offered no mediation for any disputes. Never underestimate ignorance as a ploy for children and partners to get out of completing a task. After all did they really help you give the kids a bath if it takes you half an hour to clean up the mess. You deserve this day. Don’t compromise unless you are doing it by yourself. Single mothers should team up!!!❤

Motherhood is a whole nother job. We carry our kids in our womb for so long and still have to carry them through life. I do feel guilty of wanting to be alone but then when I'm alone I want my son around me again. Mothers need to cherished and loved and appreciated every single day. For most of my mothers day I was out of the house away from my son and husband but when I got back home and they weren't there , I was soo mad because I missed them soo much. We need to applaud ourselves more often cuz we are doing well. Tami and tesanne , I love the way you raise your kids.

When i saw the topic of this, i chuckled because this year is the first time that I decided to be away from my son for part of Mother's Day. I went out to brunch with my husband and friend. Ate and chilled without worrying about keeping him occupied, making sure he ate etc. I had to work through the guilt of being away but i hugged him a little tighter that night. You MUST give relaxation a try as mother Tammy and Tessann. Relaxation involves watching a movie, reading, sleeping, just having a me time. It is a therapy which is good for us as mothers. As mothers we have to get some form of rejuvenation in order to give back to our family... Relaxation is mothers SELF CARE...you must try it Tammy and Tessann.
