Didn't get to put mine in the community tab, but I watched atla for the first time when I was 17, im now 18 so it's been less then a year when I watched it for the first time. My older sister had recently just moved to Germany and I was missing her a lot. I'd recently been reccomended atla by a good friend of my mom's and thought I'd give it a chance. At first, I'm gonna be honest, it wasn't my favorite. It took me until about ep 10 for me to really start getting into it. But once I watched the blue spirit ep I was hooked. From there I just binge watched the entire thing, finishing it in about 2 weeks. I get obsessed with things very easily lol, and remember just sitting there crying after the last episode when it showed the "the end" title screen. I hadn't fallen this in love with characters or a story in a while, everything meant so much to me. I loved the sibling relationship with katara and sokka, because as someone who has a good relationship with my sister's, I feel it's rare to see a good sibling bond in stories, and I appreciated that. Zuko and azula's storyline makes me want to cry every time I think about it, not only because of zukos amazing redemption but also because of azula's downfall. I've never watched a fight quite like the final agni Kai. I also loved aang, because he's very unlike a lot of MC's in stories who are tasked with saving the world. He's goofy, and joyful, and happy go lucky, and bright. And I loved seeing that because that's very similar to my personality. I also deeply relate to katara, and I loved how she was motherly and kind while also being an amazing warrior with a bit of temper. Every character was masterfully written, and iroh and his words of wisdom will stick with me forever. I love the community, and all the content it has to offer, like braving the elements with Dante and Janet. And another reason this show means so much to me, is not only because it came at a time in a life when I needed it's life and brightness, but also because it inspired me to do something I NEVER thought I'd do. Write a book. Im actually still writing it lol, seeing as it's only been about 7 months since I started. But I don't think I ever would have begun if I hadn't watched avatar. I could talk about atla forever and everything in it that means so much to me, but then we'd be here all day. 😂

I'm so sad that ATLA was only on cable in the USA. In Australia, we had it on the ABC which is a free channel. I never really thought about that before 😭

I totally meant to comment on your community tab but forgot! I'm 31 now, and first watched Avatar at age 20. I was 12 when it came out, but I didnt watch it because one of my friends at the time used to bash anime. Zuko is the character I connect most with, and his journey being lost of discovering himself resonates even more with me today.

hello,maybe you can do reviews of chararter analysis and yes including zhao. also keep in mind that avatar is about kids going on a journey of learning in a war ravaged world.

Yes I am Hispanic American, and yes I found in my childhood mostly being vindicated for liking anything anime related instead of regular American kids cartoons like every normal kid, especially since I was a jock in middle/high school that spoke "ok" english . I often played sports and watched anime/played video games as a kid and never really watched American cartoons until ATLA spoke to me.😅It is weird cuz it's usuallly the reverse like you said.

If you go into the Shymalan movie with the expectation that it is awful it's fun to laugh at. I, however, was hyped for it and knew within seconds it was going to be a disappointment I had to sit through. The opening narration had me looking around thinking "did anyone else hear that?"

I love Avatar because its almost a perfect story (9/10) and Zuko has one of the best redemption arcs ever. Thats why its been so hard to get it to translate into a real life movie and tv show because it was perfect. By the way the Beach is a top 5 episode because it humanizes the villains lol

ATLA and the Teen Titans show on Cartoon Network along with Dragon Ball Z Kai were my Segway shows into anime. Also, do you plan on watching Korra? Just curious. It’s really divisive among the fans lol everyone seems to either love it or hate it. I personally was not the biggest fan, but I would love to hear your comments if you want to watch it :)
