But, if I had decided to Canada, securing a job in healthcare wouldn't be that difficult. Getting a first job in any other field is slightly harder as I understand now.. after talking to so many others (Due to the fact the Canadian employers value Canadian experience & education more than any other experience). I live in India but I plan on moving to Canada. Some people say cost of living in Canada is higher than US also salary in Canada is also less than us. The weather is also very cold. I want to know is it worth moving to Canada. ??
@kuriousminds20194 жыл бұрын
Hi Vaideswaran, I can understand why people say that cost of living is higher in Canada. 1. Cost of living: It is mainly because of the GST of 13% on everything you buy. Also, if you intend to stay in a big city like Torornto then living expenses are going to be high as well! But, that would be the case even if you decide to stay in New York or Chicago. 2. Canadian Salary: Yes, salaries in Canada could be slightly lower than US, but not necessarily in all fields. It would be outside my scope of knowledge to comment more on this.. Also, Canadians pay slightly higher taxes than US. But remember that Canadians gets Health Care free which would account for 4-5% of an individuals earning in the US or 8-10% if only 1 person is earning in a family. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJLSo3p6jMqcqrc 3. Weather: Canadian weather is similar to northern US, as most Canadians live with 100 miles of the US-Canada Border kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKimo2hpbcaVZtE If you are planning to move to US or Canada, then Canada is clearly a better option for Indians due to the immigration policies. Since peace of mind coming through Permanent Residency is much more valuable than the earnings. If you are deciding between India and Canada, then it is a completely different comparison based on what your preferences are... I hope this clarifies your questions, somewhat! Thanks for watching!

Hi, That is an extremely difficult question to answer. How can one quantify between leaving their parents behind versus the financial and social benefits of a developed country? We moved as young 24 year olds, so these type of questions didn't arise much in our little heads at that time. We personally do miss India all the time (i mean on a daily basis) after being in US and Canada for over 12 years. But, the financial security by being in a developed country has helped us to provide better for our families. From time to time, our parents have visited us and don't forget that that is an option for you as well. Think over carefully whatever you choose, but always remember that wherever you are, YOU WILL FIND A WAY and the key to your happiness is YOU and no one else. I am getting too carried away now.. Take care and Good luck!

I have my doubts about Canada being plan B. I would think India would still offer better opportunities than Canada IMO, better weather, lesser taxes, quick medical help, known land growing up etc. It's your life, do what makes you happy... Hi Praveen, If you are planning to come to USA for your Masters, think about coming to Canada straight away (tuition is cheaper, students can work part-time off campus, you could research more about job search & your stay as a student could be partially counted towards your citizenship application if you decide to pursue that in the near future). In any case, you are making a good decision by thinking about Canadian PR as a back up option. I would recommend you to some of the other videos from my channel as it lays out a few other things you will have to consider when you apply for a Canadian PR. Hi Santanu De, I am a Physiotherapist by profession. I agree with you that "getting the right job (and opportunities)" is extremely important and will be something that every individual looking to get a PR must consider. Since your PR is based on skilled immigration, I think that with some persistence one should be able to find a Job in their respective field. Reg 'permanent academic teaching faculty positions in Biology': I can't say for sure, what requirements would be needed as the curriculum and teaching style here would differ tremendously from other countries. Thanks

Hi Mukesh, Your video is very good and different from other ones. I got my Canada PR and made my soft landing in December 2018. Immediately after that, I moved to the USA. Currently, I am on an L1 visa and it has been a year in the USA (with my wife). As you know, if I don't stay at least 2 years in Canada within my 5 years of PR, I won't be eligible to renew it or apply for citizenship. However, I am continuing to work in the USA as I need to start with a new job in Canada altogether. Also, comparatively less pay and more taxes in Canada seemed like an obstacle to me. But, I need to make a decision quickly so that I don't loose my hard-earned PR. Do you have any suggestions for us?
@kuriousminds20194 жыл бұрын
Hi Ashwin, You certainly have some valid points here..Canada's taxes are higher than US, but don't forget that healthcare is free so you won't need to pay health insurance cost, which should save you about 5-10% of the after tax income (depending your family income). I would suggest you to start your job search with your qualifications and since you already have a PR, employers would be more willing to hire you than some of the other folks that are in the process of getting their PR. Also, since you have a PR, you could think about starting your own business here. Canada has such low Small Business taxes (Federal plus Ontario provincial taxes are only 13% total). You could venture out with your creative thinking and most of us fail to realize that we don't have to just seek a job here but could create a business which would help you as well the country/community to progress along with you. You still have some time to consider these things as you will are only approximately 15 months in to your PR. Try to think long term stability here.. Good luck and send me any other questions you have.

Hi Pradip, Sorry knowing that you didn't get your H1B in the first attempt. Moving to Canada is a great option, at least have it as a back up for now just in case your OPT expires before you get your H1B in USA. Why I say this for you is because Nepal as opposed to India doesn't have a green card backlog, so if you can get your employer to file for your I-140 you could get your green card much sooner than most Indian citizens. Hi Musa, We are a proud citizen of India as well and would eventually love to go back to India. But, we want to have a back up option just in case things don't go as planned. India and even Bangladesh are growing rapidly and the cultural change is quite dramatic as well. We moved here 12 years ago and have spent most of our adulthood in USA and are now so used to the American work culture that it would be hard to adjust back to India (as you yourself must know how different it is compared to back home). The memories of India that we so dearly hold on to in our heart are from 12 years ago.. and every time we go back to India (every year), we realize that India has changed a lot since then. I am not saying that we can't get used to it again but it would take some time and until then, having a good back up option is not wrong. May be even spend time in both countries and enjoy the best of both worlds. Take Care!

Hi Kumar, I would be glad to help you in getting any information you need about moving to Canada. Fortunately, I did not have to look for a job in Canada as I could continue with my existing job until my H1B visa is valid since I live close to the US-Canada border. This is also an option for many H1B visa holders..I have explained that in my other videos on this channel...You can also get information about 'Finding a job in Canada' in this video.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZyWgKKkl5x-gbs You can check it out and If you still have any questions after that, you could send me a personal email on kuriousminds2019@gmail.com and I could try to help you more in that regards. Good Luck!

This is simple - the USA: crazy; Canada: sane.

Why do you need to immigrate at all. Why don’t you just fix your own?
