I take it as a throwback, the title is like a phrase you say to your friend. And Nolan is our bestest friend here in donut. If they titled it "The real reason why...." then ur right

I think pimp my ride was a reflection of the worst part of the car scene at that time: i.e. all show, no go... lots of posers and wanna-be types.

Who remembers ''Trick It Out''? There was an episode in which some self-proclaimed 'tuners' turned an Accord into a Mercedes, by putting the whole Mercedes front fascia on it! And some others couldn't even finish their project, which was planned to include 20in rims in a Honda and exhibitional trays full of cupcakes in its door cards! Gaudy s**t af! There was also another kitsch moment when someone made custom wheels inspired by the basket ball, with the characteristic black lines on them, painted them orange and fitted them in a slammed orange 240SX S14!

Unique whips was one of my favorites back then. Nolan explained it perfectly, most of those cars still look good today. They tried to bring it back on velocity channel a couple yrs ago it didn't do too well, prefer the old speed channel stuff

The 2000s were when I first really started getting into cars, especially the import scene. While I watched a bunch of build shows, I think my favorite was Tuner Transformation on the Speed Channel. Focused mainly on the sport compact scene, but they seemed to care more about performance than they did about the looks or crazy body kits that a lot of the shows relied on. They had those too, but my favorite episodes were the ones where they just tried to build a faster, better handling car. Really wish that show was still on...
