Growing up my family had a red '05 Durango with the 5.7 HEMI exactly like the one picture at 14:56. I learned to drive in that thing. We towed our travel trailer with the rango when i was younger. Since I was homeschooled we were able to take the camper up and down the entire east cost for weeks at a time while schooling on the road. So many good times riding in the backseat of the durango with the siblings during super long road trips. Once we legit took a month going to Disney world all the way up to Maine (with plenty of stops in between of course...). I never remember that engine struggling with a trailer filled to the brim with a homeschooled families stuff. Great episode, much love from Cincinnati.

3,400rpm on a prop plane in WW2 is actually quite high. Most german planes thrived at 2,500rpm-3,000rpm, whilst Merlin’s could handle 3,000. But a lot of axis engines would have issues above 2,700rpm aside from the one like Jumo 213E. You can only spin a propeller so fast before wit becomes inefficient, resulting in a loss of power or death of the engine.

That Chrysler powered monster made 138 decibels at 100 feet at full throttle, loud enough to cause permanent hearing loss if you were right next to it. Legend say you could hear it go off from 20 miles away. The closest an electric powered siren ever got to that record was 1981, when ACA introduced the penetrator 50, which due to it's heavy chopper, is powered by a 50 horsepower, 480 volt, three phase motor, it not only holds the record for the loudest electric motor powered siren, at 135 decibels at 100 feet, but also the loudest dual tone siren in the world. The Chrysler siren was 6 port single tone, the p50 was 8/12 port dual tone. Unlike the Chrysler sirens, which are practically extinct in service, the p50/rm135/t135ac, are still in active service in relatively large numbers

4:43 - at 25,000ft there is the same percentage of oxygen as there is at sea level. Gas composition of the atmosphere doesn’t change with altitude until 196,850ft (60km). It’s the decrease in pressure that causes NA piston engines to struggle. Hence the need for a big old spiny boiii

Everyone complains about challengers not being able to handle. I feel like the big, boxy, heavy, design adds to that old classic muscle feel. I think the scat pack with the 6 speed is the perfect modern MUSCLE car. Big and heavy, lots of power from a big hemi V8. No supercharges or turbos just raw engine roar. Still the same beautiful cruising car. It never was meant to take corners at high speeds and put times on the track. It was built to give you the best muscle car experience.

michael howell The Germans weren’t too worried about our P 38 turbo charger technology as they had a far superior system that used a hydraulic coupling also all European theater p38 had turbos as they were high altitude long range bomber escorts and the Supercharger system offered with the Allison engines did they use were not sufficient the turbos didn’t even match up but they worked they often over boosted the engines at lower altitude which is why they became really good ground attack planes the turbos were housed in the booms I really suggest A book called 100 years of aircraft or just googling it
