The WNBA's greatest nemesis is themselves. They cry about wanting more people to support them but they won't even support their own. CC is someone who is likeable, talented, marketable, and will put butts in seats at games but too many of the old guard are just jealous the spotlight won't be on them so they would rather tear down everyone then elevate their peer.

Diana's points are valid for sure. It's just the total disdain in her delivery that makes it seem more personal than MAYBE it is. We also have to understand that college is a cult, and Taurasi was in Cultville, UConn, so again, when referencing Paige, the favoritism towards the UConn connection shows up in Taurasi's voice, meaning that if Paige played for Iowa and Clark played for UConn, Taurasi's comments would be completely reversed even though she would have been speaking about the exact same players. (A big part of it may not be related to the Caitlin/Paige debate, but rather the UConn vs non-UConn angle.) Peer pressure from her UConn connection, whether real or perceived, I'm sure has an effect on how she views, and vocally translates those views on audio/video, referring to the non-UConn star Clark and the UConn star Paige. Some people just are perceived as abrasive even though they may not be as abrasive as they come across to the masses.

Here is the other part of basketball that the WNBA has not realized. They have no real drama or rivalries. Russell and Wilt elevated the game in their way. Magic vs Bird broke all barriers. Jordan vs the Bad Boys was magic. What rivalries has the WNBA had? They are too busy trying to have solidarity and never realize that rivalries are what brings in viewers. Sadly, the WNBA players have created more heat with potential fans (in this case, newcomer fans who are following Caitlin Clark) than with opposing teams. I used to watch the WNBA when it first started, and what I remember most was the Comets-Liberty games. I still haven't felt the romance for a WNBA rivalry the way I felt about that.

Caitlin has an insane workout schedule. She may have some adjustments to the WNBA but Clark hates to lose. She'll work harder. She has natural talent but worked hard on her game. Shes a decent person. When a local food patry offered her money to be a spokesperson for the food bank she turned down the money and did it for free. This is a really decent person and Im tired of listening to what is beginning to sound like pettiness and jealousy in the criticism. Good grief if LeBron James and Steph Curry think shes the real deal who are these people?

No, no, no! The one player who changed basketball was Wilt Chamberlin. Wilt changed the rules. The 3 second rule. The width of the paint in the 3 second area. No dunking from the foul line.... Wilt did it all and he made basketball change. 100 points, 50 average per game, 30 rebounds per game, 50 rebounds against Bill Russell in a game, lead the league in assists as a center. No one had a bigger impact on basketball than Wilt Chamberlin.

Both sides have built her up so much that anything less than complete and utter dominance will have people calling her a failure. And because of the way she’s been put on that pedestal, every team she plays is going to be going that much harder when guarding her. I won’t be surprised if she has decent stats to start because she’s going to be played super tough. Then later on, when defenses start to open up for her a bit more, she might get to the level so many believe she’s capable of.

One thing I will say though is this guy did talk about "pay disparity" and that NBA rookies make more the wnba rookies. Yet the reason for this is 1, as we all know, the wnba loses 10 million each year, and besides that, is subsidized by the NBA. And to say its unfair for women to be payed less, is completely an understatement. In fact, if you look at it, sabrina is making more than most wnba rookies, and, numbers wise, is making more on percentage value if you look at the numbers than 80% of NBA rookies of comparing to revenue to salary. So, final answer, CC could up help up the salary of every wnba player by increased watching.

Clark isn't polarizing. The only one that don't like her are a minority of WNBA players who are insanely jealous of her. And its true, most people didn't give a darn about women's college basketball or the WNBA until Clark. I actually attended two WNBA games in the 90s and hardly anyone was in the stands and the play was uninspiring. And yes I've seen Taurasi, Wilson, Stewart, Plum, Parker, Griner, Lobo Swoopes and many others WNBA and NCAA women's basketball players on ESPN and during the Olympics and they didn't inspire me to come back for more -- Clark has.

You know why that is? The Current WNBA Collective Bargaining Agreement is heavily charity based, which means regardless of marketability, players more than what they actually deserve With Caitlyn Clark's popularity, if she became popular, she might want a more result oriented salary on the next CBA, when the current one expires, that means that she's going to get the salary she deserves based on what the market will dictate, which would also mean that all the charity based contracts of other players will change to what the market dictates And if there's one thing these women hates, it's earning what they actually deserve.

Here's my opinion. Those WNBA players are just women, they don't really like seing someone better than them, so they talk bad about her, but has the NBA players who are the best of the game, when they see someone has good as them, they recognize the latent and work and respect it instead of insulting it

Simple question, besides Sabrina and CC, how many WNBA players can you name off the top of your head? Now How many teams besides feaver? Now can you name who one the wnba championship this last year? Now compare that to how many people watched womens college basketball this year and the championship game, more people watched that then past wnba championships combined! This generation of womens basketball players will be what leads the wnba to future fame, and to say thats sexist it completly isnt. Caitlin is genuinly going to change the game and like he said in the video, this is the 90s for the WNBA. Old heads in the wnba just feel entitled to thinking they are the best ever, well guess what, people thought wilt was before jordan came along. WNBA players need to wake up and see CC and others will, no. 1 make them more money by making more people watch the game.

Clark is a brilliant player. But I think that the comparisons to Jordan or Wembanaya is problematic given that Raven Johnson exists. Raven Johnson Shut Caitlin ALL THE WAY DOWN in the biggest game of the entire season, so I am sure that pro women will be able to look at what Raven Did and do it to an even higher level. No individual player was EVER able to shut MJ down that completely in college so my expectations are that Clark will be excellent, but there will be some very determined individual on every team will be assigned specifically to shut her down...
