What a lovely voice teacher! A part of me perceives Amy's advice is about unlocking the voice (of the child). The vital 'psycho-physical' aspect of this work feels as if the freeing of the voice is a therapeutic process of releasing old tensions ('trauma'). The voice (throat centre) is associated with the (base/root centre) of the body (the place of trust and safety; usually (hopefully) learned in childhood). This means special support by acting teachers, coaches and guides may be needed to give space to learner adult actors for this 'unfolding'. Emotions may come through as the playful/rhythmical/flexible voice is re-integrated, which will need patience and empathy... even if we temporarily follow cravings for arousal or numbing, as the 'healing' happens. -I'm about to try 9 days of a Michael Chekhov acting workshop series of one Sunday per month at the Rudolf Steiner House! ...eek! ;)

Don't know if Amy Hume has heard but Kristin Linklater died two days ago. I thought I let her know because she was trained by her.
