I'm primarily a retail player, as I just enjoy the faster pace more. But classic is something that always draws me back in from time to time, just because of it's legendary quest lines, and it's focus on the world itself. Quests, like the Morbent Fel chain that requires you to venture out to the Wetlands to see other areas, or the Missing Diplomat quest chain that has you investigating the disappearance of the King himself. Classic just has some damn good quest chains.

Biggest part for me with classic is the levelling is main part of the game, the journey and adventure where your character grows from newbie to champion. Like you said getting to 60 in classic is an achievement! Sadly with retail I've never clicked with the rush to endgame and lack of a deeper levelling journey. Seems odd to me wanting to finish the game as fast as possible to then spend hours doing busy work and collectables!

I just discovered your channel and I'm very impressed with the quality and creativity you pour into your videos. I played world of warcraft from its release in 2004 up until the end of The Burning Crusade in 2007 or so, when due to life changes I moved on. Recently I started to see glimpses of WoW on my social media feeds and my curiosity tempted me to watch videos and listen to music from Warcraft. I must say it has been a flood of nostalgia which can be intense and enjoyable, taking me instantly back in time to a magical era of my life that had I known then, what I know now, I would have documented it for my enjoyment. You have done a fantastic job of capturing the essence of WoW that invigorated me for such a long time. Watching your videos makes me want to start playing again so I can relive the good, the bad and the ugly that I so fondly remember. Unfortunately, I just don't have the free time to play that I once had. Your videos are a great substitute for someone like me who can afford 20-30 min at a time in lieu of complete submersion into the game. I'm curious how you get such footage of the game with impossible in-game camera angles and empty zones? Anyways, keep the videos rolling and cheers to you!

You really hit the nail on the head. It's about the world and how you experience it. Personally I love the social interaction in the game and unfortunately I think that aspect in WoW is dying. You nailed it! I would go so far and say that many of the other aspects of the game support the appeal of the world design. For example items: You have so many flavor items that are not BiS, but they tell you details about the cultures or just curiosities. It makes the world more believeable and less gamelike, because there are cloth items with +int and +str. Also class design: You are not a hero, you are a small light in this abundant world and you will never be absolutely overpowered even with T3. You learn spells that are just for flavor, but that is not without function for the atmosphere. Even unfinished areas add to the experience - and for me personally they have always been the real endgame content ;-)

I learned from the Classic Era resurgence that I'm capable of leveling in a mere 3 months but we'll have plenty of time to get to 60, level professions, and raid before the servers move to TBC. I've been playing WoW since 12/1/2005, so almost 19 years, or halfway through original WoW. It's been my favorite video game ever since, even though I don't play it every day. And to me, the world of the game is the best part, too. I love how huge and varied it is! Yet, I have no interest in playing WoW Classic because the game was frustratingly slow and more difficult back then. And it was smaller with less customization and variety. The current game is almost overwhelmingly massive. And all the people who think the end game is the only game now, are completely wrong. I hate raiding and PvP and always have, especially in vanilla. I don't even like most dungeons, although the new follower dungeon system makes it better for me. I still spend almost all of my time in the game leveling up and questing or exploring.

I would be down for a classic plus experience where it was sort of like a play your way type of deal. Something where you could toggle different things on and off like faster leveling if you want to go that way or having a barbershop/transmog features. Basically a number of options that make the classic experience what you yourself want it to be. And I feel like with the phasing technology they could do that and if you want to run around the world looking like a Christmas tree wearing 10 different color pieces of armor that’s your option but if you want to do something a little different, you should also have that option

Back then, devs gave a damn and care. Now, they are in the service of the Lich King. Very sad, and that's why people still gravitate toward Classic.
@Jediwarlock7 күн бұрын
So true! I could never both playing Retail... and probably never will. Classic as a community and culture is of course not perfect, but at least we still have the world to explore and enjoy. :)
@GenesRapture7 күн бұрын
@ I am considering to plat retail, but gravitating to return to Classic because of exploration, story line when I want to do it,and occasional raid with other creatures. Community ain't good for sure, but ut can be just ignored 🤣

It has always been like a child that has great potential but the parents start getting lazy as the child ages ruining what potential the kid had by the time it graduates. The War within is like the kid finally landing a good job, moving out, and starting to hit the gym. The better not FK up housing because that’s the ONE thing that people have wanted for many years. Make REPEATABLE content not content that is obsolete after an expansion!

Combat is outdated, boring, non-intuitive AF. For most classes anyway. World is diverse and immersive AF. For most zones anyway. That’s about it. Game is legendary because of the timing it had in gaming industry. Nowadays it’s just nostalgia and community.
@Jediwarlock7 күн бұрын
That's fair XD

Classic was a masterpiece, and each expansion lowered its status slightly until modern WoW. I'd call modern WoW pure slop.
@bojnebojnebojne24 күн бұрын
Classic wow is the best game for a new player. Not so much for a player like me who have already leveled 30+ characters over 20 years. For a player like me, it is a chore to go through that process again because i have already seen it several times so the novelty of it does not affect me anymore. The pacing is too slow, combat too slow and simplistic in nature to me. I know how the game operate on a very detailed level which makes classic a joke to me play wise. It simply is not appealing to me after so long time within the game.
@Jediwarlock7 күн бұрын
That is fair! :)
@KevsShwaShwaАй бұрын
It’s not though… for its time it was great but it’s insanely outdated. Not enough quests, reliant on grinding, class balance is horrid and you spend 80% literally of your time walking.
@Jediwarlock29 күн бұрын
"Reliant on grinding"? I haven't ever had a problem with it... if you're doing quests and maybe 2 or 3 runs of a couple dungeons you should be in good shape :D if you're wanting to reach max level quickly, though, there can be a lot of grinding inside the instances...

I guess I was too late in playing Classic WoW. It just doesn't... hook me as much as later expansions did. Cata was when I fully embraced WoW (on a private server), then stopped playing. Came back for Shadowlands, and stuck around and now I find myself wanting to play and stop playing at the same time.

Its VANILLA wow not CLASSIC wow
@Jediwarlock29 күн бұрын
Ah yeah, it's all the same in my mind because I don't count the different economy/playerbase/etc. as two separate games... for the lore stuff I talk about it's all the same compared with 2004 "Vanilla" so I just call it Classic. :)
@Geraldo_Rivian28 күн бұрын
@Jediwarlock oh well...I do... since the novelty of first playing wow all those years ago vs replaying the same nostaligia bait now can never be the same for me... P.S. not an issue. I just wrote in caps so that it gets noticed and so that new players don't get confused

@Jediwarlock oh its broken. It's a phrase that's never used outside of KZbin and if you think about it for more than half a second, it is completely retarded.
@WiseGrunt9Ай бұрын
Correction. WoW is not a masterpiece. It just lacks competition. Proof is obvious. In every other field in the world people see something and they copy it. Ahh they grow crops this way? Ohh they build PCs this way? They build bla bla this way.. In video games they refuse to take what works and improve it. WoW is not perfect, it just has no competition as all those who triest to copy it either produce crap as they don't have enough resources or it's just a ash grab. It was good 2004 but if it's still the best.. That tells you about gamers and what they promote by voting with their wallets
@Jediwarlock29 күн бұрын
Idk if that's fully accurate... I mean there have been dozens of "WoW Killers" throughout the years and none of them have dethroned Classic. So I think there's plenty of competition but there hasn't been a good enough commitment to overcome what Blizz produced.
@WiseGrunt928 күн бұрын
@@Jediwarlock well, competition and cash grabs are different. If you take fighting for example and let Tyson Fury fight 5 toddlers is it competition? They are fighting. If a cyclist enters a car race is it really a competition? You could call it that, but in a way it's wrong. That's how gaming is today. Look how it used to be, it should be way better today.
@Robert_D_MercerАй бұрын
it USED to be a masterpiece, but greed and corporate practice destroyed it's growth and expansion. It kind of obv why art today cannot break boundaries or barriers today, and it's simply because there's a huge lack of actual tough type of men like me in the office... Homie... if you know you know. But without that merit and diligent leader or two, the house of cards crumbles. Every team/operation needs brains and muscle and we basically killed off the muscle.
@Robert_D_MercerАй бұрын
... Im not a very smart man, but I've noticed alot of dev teams shift and change... it's was usually a half half type of situation... as men we dont care if ur a chad or a nerd, we're working together. It sounds cheesey and simple, but fuck... Homies just dont get it I guess...

@samburkey9962Ай бұрын
no it's not, i've played it for 15 years and i can safely say that it is the most braindead game structure ever made, it begs not only for your money but also your time, a brain leech is the best analogy i can give to this pile of steaming trash that is "World of Warcraft"
@fritzschnitzmueller3768Ай бұрын
Did you collect things like mounts and other unnecessary things? Or why do you feel that way. Also, these hardcore takes are mostly coming from ppl that just couldn't control themselves and overdid it so they totally collapse and start to hate the game. Seen it hundreds of times. Should've followed that hint on the loading screen that tells them to go outside
@Robert_D_MercerАй бұрын
You dont get it do you? In the beginning, it was the perfect product for both the average joe and the in door'd loser. Like... boundaries were broken. And as I stated earlier, the older dev team was a mix of chads and nerds. Brains and muscle. All game devs and stuff today killed the muscle, so now all you have is "leeches" meritocracy and the average joe aspect is DEAD. people who think these features that make it easier are so brain dead...
