This is directly relevant to the drills you gave me in the lesson I have underway with you on Skillest. It provides a great explanation of why more forearm rotation is so important. Getting the club shaft to lay down on both sides of the swing in combination with the right grip and supporting body motion makes the swing feel fluid and powerful. Thanks for another excellent explanation of a vital element of the swing.

Stu, another wonderful video. Many coaches and amateurs believe that forearm rotation is "flipping," when it certainly is not. Quick story, I was on the driving range a couple of summer's ago, when the local pro started watching me and commented that I needed to stop "flipping." That I should not turn my forearms over because it was causing me to "flip." He then said that he could help me cure that problem. I looked at him and said, how would the club move naturally if my forearms didn't rotate? I told him that I was a very good baseball player and had played in the Majors for a short time until I got hurt, and every single player rotated their foreams to hit the ball. I told hiim that what he was saying didn't make sense and I wouldn't do it. Lastly, I told him that if this is what he's teaching then he is ruining his students' swing. Naturally, he didn't like what I said and asked me what is the carry distance of my driver and 7 iron, and what my handicap was, at that time, my carry distance for driver was 255 and 7 iron was 175, and I had a 4 handicap (currently down to a 3). He scoffed and walked off. Thanks for cofirming and setting the record straight. Cheers.

Another great video. I was at the range yesterday and for the first time realized my forearms didnt maintain the rotation at the start of the downswing. Im now playing around with the feeling of keeping more of that external rotation in the right wrist in the pull phase. (It’s only been one day) but all of a sudden i felt something new- less of a need to push off of my right foot, and power coming from my left foot/ right hip at the bottom of the arc. Again thanks for your coaching!

@@GoodGolfCoaching.....hey Stu, I've got a question for if you got a sec...... let's say there's this hypothetical golfer, and he's at the driving range and hitting his clubs pretty darn solid...... and let's say this hypothetical golfer is hitting his 9-iron say 125ish 130ish but when he starts hitting 8, 7 and 6 iron , the gap between the distances seem to be very minimal. Now I don't think you need to know the distances with the gaps cuz it could be very embarrassing for this hypothetical golfer.......wait, let me just rephrase this.......what should the distance gaps be between your irons?..... I guess I could just use some brain cells and assume it's all based on swing speed?..... and that being said, this hypothetical golfer needs to somehow learn to swing with more venom? .......thanks ⛳🍺🍺🍺😁

Stuart, can I ask something about what you talk about when applying pressure to the ball with the lead hand, I know you've covered this in other videos and a good strong grip is essential, but I wonder if you could do a video on how to apply this pressure when using a driver? It's a lot easier with an iron on the ground but when hitting up with the driver, I'm not sure how to apply this and exiting left with the hand path. Thanks for all your help, it's making a difference to not only myself but everyone who consistently watches your channel.

Good stuff Stu. Applying the rotation later is gold. Also twinning that with starting the DS by moving the hands forward and it looks great on camera for me. Arm lift is something I would like to see more on from you bc it’s different to leverage of the head by pushing down with the handle which you have explored. My shut face is alleviated by lifting the arm’s more. I have noticed i do this perfectly in a practice swing but not when a ball is there. Ball anxiety?
@GoodGolfCoaching10 ай бұрын
Hey Mark - you can find more on arm lift here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIXdiKibYsehgbc - Lifting the arms more and in your case, driving the handle more at the ball through strike offsets the shut face. Hope that helps ! Best wishes Stu 😊

Another great video Stuart. I have been wondering at what point you shallow the shaft. I feel like I've been trying to do it at the top of the backswing to initiate the downswing, but it seems like it might be easier to do it before you get to the top of the backswing to promote a bit more flow perhaps? As always can't wait for your next content. I've been playing some great golf recently thanks to your channel. Regards Andy
@GoodGolfCoaching10 ай бұрын
Hey Andy, shallowing the shaft happens in the transition phase of the swing and beyond, depends how you’ve set that up in your backswing. More content coming your way Andy and thanks as ever for your support. Best wishes Stu 😊

Really good video on a subject that is easily misunderstood - I am guessing that some of the advice about not rotating forearms is probably linked to the idea that it encourages a closing of the face and therefore requires timing. IMO it is very simple, if you have forearm rotation in the backswing, and Stuart shows beautifully how bad your backswing is without forearm rotation, you have to have equal and opposite forearm rotation in the downswing. I also love the way Stuart explained how the rotation is really a function of the weight of the club wanting to do its thing and trying to stop it could lead to injuries. I would explain it slightly differently by reference to angular momentum, but I am weird that way! The truth is that most people will react better to Stuart's warning that resisting forearm rotation is more likely to result in injuries

Good video. I believe I commented on one previously about left elbow. I'm fairly new to golf (4months) and been scoring high 80s on average. Recently I've been slicing a lot more and can't seem to hit straight. I've figured out that where I'm trying to keep my takeaway straight im not rotating forearms enough which makes my swing too steep. I couldn't work out how the pros get shallower backswings which to me felt an impossible position to get to. Then I realised just by rotating my forearms more it shallows the club and lo and behold you have a video on it too 😂👍👌
