The Wii was a fantastic system. Honestly, The 7th Generation truly was a transformative period in gaming. It introduced us to motion controls and a stronger emphasis on online play (especially with PlayStation and Xbox), but in a lot of ways it was also the last generation where we really got a complete gaming experience right out of the box without having to deal with day one patches (for the most part).

Ah the Nintendo Wii, My favorite pick up and play console. Very innovative regardless of what many call “gimmicky”. Top tier developers knew how to pump AAA games out of it. And that virtual console, wow was it incredible. Love the Wii, love it.

Everyone needs a modded Wii in 2021. External HDD loaded with Wii, GameCube, emulators, ROMs. It's still an entertainment powerhouse to this day and is built like a tank. No modchip required and HDDs are super cheap.

I have no idea why, after unbelievable sales, they did not make an updated Wii. Makes no sense at all. We still use ours every Christmas gathering. Grandson also loves it.

I bought a Wii days ago as a birthday gift for myself with a 2nd Wiimote and the Wii Fit game with the balance board for $65 and I'm really glad that I did. :D

another good Wii Review.l for modern era. I wish they handled next plans for Wii better after it's surprising success. even I didn't think this console would be great vs an Xbox (Original) which I primarily had at the time. I didn't get a 360 till 2010ish-2011. naturally that changed quickly once I saw Samus again being advertised numerous times (when Nintendo cared about Metroid more) 2006-7ish for Prime 3. like literally anywhere and everywhere I went especially at home plus I had finished playing Prime Hunters at that time so I was definitely on a high for Metroid. OtherM was underwhelming I guess cause they had stopped ads for it and I never got it. still plan to get it to go through the pain and "story" experience. but yes was glad to finally mod my wii in 2019 to play modded Smash Bros Brawl and quickly realized what I've been missing out on, especially being able to fully back up your Wii (BootMii-that senseless can't copy everything to SD card for factory system is stupid) but yes running project+ (that I need to update but have been busy with the new consoles). anyways the Wii is great. I'm also in need of more Wii remotes and nunchuks. also a testament to when Nintendo cared about joysticks. I swear to you I'm still using the original nunchuk you got 1st time.

Good video, keep up the good work and improving yourself. Just about that comment on dolphin stuttering. The issue probably isn’t the power of the hardware you’re running. That’s more than enough to run dolphin at pretty good settings. In Metroid especially though. The way it implements some graphical features means that there’s pretty much unavoidable lag spikes. I think it’s something to do with shader support. I do believe there’s a custom version of dolphin that caches those features and it eliminates or virtually eliminates those stutters.

@@jacobporter9869 It plays retroarch, n64 emulator, gamecube and wii games, I have a Wii with an HD full with games , an HDMI adapter and pro controllers as my second console to play classic Nintendo games, the experience is a lot similar to using a modern console with a digital library, you just select a game in a menu and there is no need for disks or memory cards. The only area it lacks is that it is not compatible with video streaming services and internet browsing even though it is wifi compatible.

@@jacobporter9869 The community created many great features to the Wii that were not great in the official nintendo alternatives, like support for games from old consoles, if netflix and youtube were implemented by the homebrew commity I am sure it would be way better than anything nintendo would do, but the fact it doesn`t yet exist must also mean that this is no easy task.

Great video. I love how you improve with each new video release. In my opinion, I won't recommend the Wii. Just go for the Wii u since it can play both Wii and Wii u games via HDMI. It can also play Gamecube games but requires the console to be modded (which is quite easy to do). But if you can't get a Wii u, then the Wii is a good alternative.

The problem with Wii U is that there's no reset button, and you can't go back to the previous menus if your Wii U freezes. At least the Wii is freeze-friendly, so it has a reset button so you can hop back to the system menus when frozen.

The Wii was my FIRST game console EVER. I used to kick my brother’s ass EVERYTIME in the Swordplay minigame in Wii Sports Resort! We unfortunately gave it away to a local Goodwill before we moved, but I’m thinking on getting one again!(Or a Wii U)
