Exactly - especially since Nintendo won't make a DIME from used game sales anyway, and I yet have to see an officially sanctioned and steadily available option to buy any previously physical Wii games digitally, let alone any WiiWare titles, now that the Wii Shop Channel is defunct. I mean, sure. The Wii U had maybe... five digital rereleases of Wii games? But that'd require you to own a Wii U, which you can also only get used, and god knows how long the Wii U eShop will still be around for anyway. But in case Nintendo is listening: I will just point out that both the Wii and the Switch both use Bluetooth to connect to their controllers, and that the Sensor bar was just a bunch of infrared LEDs in a box, with no actual connectivity to the console itself aside from power.

The Wii is such a nostalgic console for me. I can’t count how much time I’ve spent as a kid making Miis in the Mii Maker, and playing Wii Sports Resort and Brawl. It had its problems (and it’s library is 90% shovelware, and it causes Nintendo to start slacking on hardware that still bites them to this day), but I still love this thing. Also, Nintendo really needs to bring back the Virtual Console. It’s still bizarre how the Wii had the best retro support…

I remember getting Twilight Princess for the Wii before getting the Wii itself because it was damn near impossible to actually get for a good while. I ended up spending weeks just reading the manual just wondering what the actual game was going to be like. I was practically crying when I came home from school and my mom revealed she actually managed to get a hold of one. I will also never forget the Wii for being my official start to retro collecting. When I finally got my first job and my first paychecks, I went crazy at used game stores picking up hidden gems like Muramasa, Sakura Wars V, Trauma Center, FE Radiant Dawn, and more that just went under the radar. @@ToxicTurquoise454 Personally I think this is probably the worst period in gaming history. I've said this many times and I still stand it to this very day. PC gaming at an all-time low, console development become so expensive that only me-too games were being made, Sony releasing a console that was honestly a piece of shit, good Wii games constantly being held hostage by an obnoxious control scheme and an underpowered console didn't do too much except waggle, and Nintendo going through what is probably its most clueless period in terms of refusing to put games on the console that people actually wanted. There were games from Nintendo that I really liked, but I honestly couldn't disagree with AntDude more. Most of the games he showcases in this video are like, 5-6/10 games. Decent, but there's not much too them. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of games that I enjoyed back then, even on the Wii! But I hated what the consoles companies were doing back then and I honestly haven't returned to console platforms ever since. All of my favorite genres of games just weren't being produced anymore (strategy games, turn based games, RPGs, etc.) and no one was putting games on my platform of choice (the PC). Nowadays my favorite genres are back, everything is released on PC, and I can buy most things at a great price without anything being locked to regions. The Chicken Shooters originated from Germany Theyre called "Moorhuhn" which closely translates to "swamp chicken" The original Moorhuhn realesed on PC and had an integrated "buisesness screen", basically a sceen you can switch to that shows what should closely resemble a document you would work on, which could hypothetacilly give you the option to slack of durnig work This series got as i said before a big hype due to its casual friendly nature and had therefore many sequels, of which none really gathered the attention as the first one did (theres even a Mario esque cart racer called "Moorhuhn Kart") Thats why there are so many Wii ports of this game There are a few good videos on this topic, but all of them are in german For anyone who speaks german, the video created by MythosOfGaming is pretty well made and explains how Moorhuhn got such a big thing in basically notime Nowadays the franchise is pretty dead since its initial appeal wore off i guess

EARTH SEEKER You have no idea what you've just done for me, AntDude. I remember READING about Earthseeker in super old Gameinformer magazines, and then it never came to the west, and years passed, and I eventually couldn't remember the game's name OR find the original article. I was recently remembering it existed but still couldn't find the game's name, and here you are not only reminding me of what it is, but telling me how I can play it Literal GOD youtuber

2 of my favorite Wii games often go unmentioned and seem forgotten...Endless Ocean and it's sequel, Endless Ocean: Blue World. Though Blue World has some frustrating moments due to the inclusion of shark attacks as a game mechanic, it's still a fun game and the original is so fun & relaxing it helped me through my recovery after having some teeth extracted. I will never stop wishing/hoping for Nintendo & Arika ( the developer ) to make a new game or at least enhanced remasters on Switch

Remember my brother getting one of these for Christmas eventhough he wasn't into video games anymore. I was more PlayStation at 16 but decided to try my first Zelda with TP. Turned out to be an incredible console for that era and I loved it! End note. The console became mine so was a bonus that Christmas!

Project M makes Brawl even better. While Ultimate has since eclipsed it, Project M was easily the best Smash game due to being a perfect blend of Melee and Brawl with fanservice that puts Ultimate to shame (hello, Shadow Queen Peach and Melee costumes for Link, Zelda/Sheik, Ganondorf, Fox, and Falco).

To this day, I still have a lot of nostalgia for the Wii. Amazing console. Hell, its even still on my desk as I write this comment lol Also fun story: I was doing a birthday party and managing the kids and set up two of them with Wii Sports Boxing, and then slowly more and more starting to watch them Next thing I know, I'm setting up a boxing tournament for them to participate in. And everyone had a blast with it.

Fun fact the Wii was in fact originally planned to be HD capable as well as have DVD playback before Nintendo decided those features had to be sacrificed to get that magical 200-dollar price tag. Shovelware aside the Wii really is the king of overlooked gems IMO. You also forgot the best part about the Nintendo Channel which was the ability to download playable demos to your Nintendo DS
@Mystemo3 жыл бұрын
The Wii friggin rocks! I love the PS3 and 360 but they focused sooo much on gritty po-faced grey and Brown shooters. The Wii had a ton of shovelware but the Wii games that actually had some thought and effort behind them where by far the most fun and creative of that generation.

Dude, I share the same feelings with you about the Wii. It was the first console that I bought with my own money, subsequently I got a DSLite as well. I have so many good memories with those games, The Last Story, Pokemon BR, Smash Bros Brawl, Zelda TP and SS, No More Heroes and so many more. Actually I have a Wii Mini completely original which I use to play physical copies and my trusty white Wii from 2008 absolutely Homebrewed. I believe that homebrewing is a natural step for a Wii owner nowadays, otherwise you're losing the total potential that this white gift box has.

Honestly, the Wii and the DS were a chapter of my life that I can never undersell. Words can't even come close to explaining the experiences they gave me. They shaped who I am during years of my life when I needed them. Growing up wasn't easier times, but the DS and the Wii were my only escape. Without them, I probably would've turned out much worse. Just getting friends over to play Super Smash Bros Brawl or getting everyone together to play Mario Kart on the DS. It always makes me tear up, thinking of those days. Gods, the Wii, and its handheld companion, the DS, will always be my favorite consoles to ever be released by Nintendo. I was absolutely gutted when the Wii eshop was closed and feel immense anger/sadness over the 3DS eshop also closing. Nintendo had no idea how badly their hurting their own history in the long run by doing this. Emulation is the only true form of preservation and it sucks that the biggest gaming company ever can't see that. RIP Wii, you were truly the best

I love this console so much. And I agree with the point you made about it having some of the most unique games of the time. I think that a lot of Nintendo's problem when advertising the wii was that they focused WAY too much time bragging to everybody about how well the wii was selling: I didn't give a shit how well it was selling, I wanted to know what other game I was gonna play. Perhaps if they focused on doing more of that, the sin and punishment 2 would've got the attention it deserved. Also, if anyone's interested, dragon quest swords was a great game too, loved that game when it was out and pretty much any of the lightgun games as well XD also also, the only absolute disappointment to me was the fact that nintendo never made another starfox game on the wii - there was so much potential too, heck, they could've imported assault from the gamecube if they wanted or make a new game in the series that expanded on gameplay ideas that starfox assault had started, but no! They went and ignored it and then gave us starfox zero on the wii u instead.....ffs!
