Great review of the mobile link! We are scheduled to have a LNG 24kw installed within 2-3 weeks and the monitoring is totally a no brainer. We travel as well and the notifications of how the gen is running or not are critical. We took advantage of the regional promo and are getting the 10 year generac parts and labor warranty without our install. The promo actually expires today 3 Jan in our region.

I don't think the battery goes out. It just indicates after a few years that it needs to be checked. If you inspection service has to install a new battery that's an additional charge...at least mine does. How do you connect to the mobile link. It's a saturday and I just discovered that I haven't been connected since they installed the LTE link device and when I try to reconnect to the usual mobile link it won't. Guess I'll have to wait until Monday to find out why. I want to be connected to the generator with mobile link like I was before the monitoring service set it's thing up.

It wasn't offered for a warranty program with my Mobile Link I do the work as needed. My Gnerac 20KwH was installed 13 December 2016 my battery is going on 6 years I am not waiting any longer I will be getting a AGM instead of a flooded acid battery. I will probably get the guy that installed the genset to look over the valve clearance etc...Thanks for posting your video. Ed

Hey Ed thanks for stopping by , look into the AGM I believe they are not recommended for the on board maintainer. I had my valve lash set on the last maintenance it not hard but I had them do it, if it blows up no fingers pointed my way is my thought.

Okay I got answers from Ziller and the ad vice I got was the newer ones can utilize the AGM to keep the battery maintained but the flooded probably would work but he may not result in the best maintenance. Thank you for suggesting that it saved a lot of head scratching for me later. You Generac would be okay with a AGM battery according to what I just got. Thanks. Ed

The generac 22 kw says it is wifi enabled. Does that mean I can connect to it and monitor it through a wifi connection, or do I need to get the linking unit you discuss in this video?

If it’s a 2018 and up model you should be able to connect it to your router and monitor it using the mobile link app according to generac. www.generac.com/all-products/parts-accessories/mobile-link-wifi

Every week when it runs the 5 minutes, does it have to switch your house power off then on to the generator then back to the main, any flicker in power to house? I worry about computers left on, clocks wifi routers ect? Thanks for the excellent information.

My generac standby generator was installed back 2015, it generac 15kw, but it doesn't have wifi hook up. I get a wifi hook up for it? How do i go by getting it done or can i do it myself. Where can i get a wifi modem for it?

2015 models ar compatible. All connection options are available here: www.generac.com/for-homeowners/mobile-link/connected-accessories Installation can be DIY if you are comfortable removing generator panels and drilling a hole in the panel. Otherwise, a local Generac dealer should be able to provide assistance as @Just Can't Sit Still mentioned Supercenter assisting.

Excuse me . I had this on my Generator with the Detroit Super center , i had the annual maintenance contract . The thing is that the Detroit one want out of business, just as my battery went dead :( Power went out, generator would not turn on and it was very frustrating experience to say the least ? I had to fix it myself and I was so mad when after a few weeks the new supercenter contacted me and i declined the service. Now i have a new battery, and no monitoring (My choice ) Why cant i connect the wifi to monitor the generator, i think that originally the Wifi was disconnected to use the LTE , now that's removed im assuming my wifi is unplugged inside the machine. so. how i fix that?

Well i spoke to Generac and as you said they do not have a feature that allows there generators to be turned on and off remotely. I see this as a flaw as in our case the generator is in a spot that is a ways from the main living area. I am thinking if there was a reason to shut it off quickly this could be a problem. Thank you for video and insight! Oh i sent an email to customer service asking them to update the app to allow this.

Thanks for the information this is my 2nd video of yours I done saw. My question is it you decide to do the yearly maintenance fee. Does that four hundred and something is the material included in that fee and if it ever needs a battery. Is the a separate fee from the yearly maintenance fee. I’m on the edge of investing in one. I appreciate you watching, yes I decided to have them take care of the maintenance for me. It includes everything they replace during the inspection, plugs, oil, filters. Batteries are not covered under the warranty or maintenance agreement.

One other thing that you will find that IS NOT covered under the yearly maintenace fee, BUT is required in order to keep the warranty in effect, is that the valves must be adjusted after the first 25 hours, then again after another 100 hours. They charge about $125 for this and usually do it while they are there for the annual maintenance visit.

Home Assistant + Genmon + CasOS + USR-TCP232-306 . If you have a spare PC or a Raspberry PI, then the entire cost is $30 . No monthly /yearly fees. If you use a Raspberry Pi you don't even need the USR-TCP232-306 , which is what cost the $30. The cost to maintain ( oil, 2 plugs, and a filter) cost less than $20.

I know this is 2 years old but I just have a Google browser open with the Generac app and it's free and it will tell you the status of your generator and if anything is wrong with it even tells me the voltage of the battery. Mine runs off wifi
