Ok, true sleeper tip: DON'T scan from left to right Scan from right to left Try it out! When scanning left to right, we start analysing visual input like we would when reading text - In a pretty fluid motion. Our brain is used to that and tends to skip the the minimal details. It's why we sometimes overread spelling errors or double words, like the double "the" in the last sentence If you scan from right to left, it will feel sloppier. That's good. It's kind of like using another neural route to interpret visual input. Helps you to spot more and skip less

Movement is mentioned but it's importance cannot be overstated. The human brain is evolved to notice movement. If you are trying to move somewhere in Squad, it can be very beneficial to move in short rushes from cover to cover. Hide in cover motionless until your stamina is full, all the while scanning for enemies. Then once your stamina is full and no enemies are in sight, quickly dash to a new position with cover, crouch or go prone and scan again while regaining stamina for the next rush. This is much more effective than just holding shift and charging towards the objective. Even better is if you can coordinate movement with allies such that someone is always covering while other elements are moving. Then even if you are shot at while moving, your allies are ready to fire back with accuracy while you dive prone behind any available cover. It's worth mentioning also that your movement speed is much faster if your stamina is full, either when walking or sprinting. Walking with full stamina is only a hair slower than sprinting while exhausted. Additionally your weapon sway is greatly reduced when your stamina is high. If you are advancing to contact or in an active firefight, keeping your stamina high is critical.

Something you'll find as an old wisdom in infantry manuals is looking right to left and bottom to top tends to help you spot easier as we are used to reading left to right and top to bottom. It shakes it up and helps the brain pay attention.

I’ve played squad long enough to be able to recognize various sounds of vehicles and gunshots from different factions, also in terms of binoculars I always take kits that have them (which is why I rarely use kits with optics or scopes that get rid of binoculars), they are extremely helpful at finding enemies far away that you can’t see.

FR. I've literally spotted people with binos and switched to my weapon with iron sights, taken a few pot shots, checked with the binos to find the guy dead. Had to be frustrating for him lol.

Haven't watched the video but btw, for anyone who plays on 1080p and similar resolutions, for some reason 100% Resolution Scale is not enough, so to help spot people in the distance better, turn it up to 105%. Whole different world after learning this trick, even on low settings.

the first one that everyone needs to learn is the sound of ar-15 pattern guns. 5.56 has a very distinct sound and like half of the factions use ars so if you hear something thats not that you at least have something

Another tip is to use the binoculars in the kits without an ACOG type site. Binoculars are the best optics in the game, other than the vehicle ones. You have a MASSIVE unrestricted field of view. You can genuinely spot alot more people than with a regular acog.

To help pin point the direction of fire, pan your view side to side. You can make large sweeps and then hone in, making smaller movements until the gunfire is even in both ears.

Tip that I use all the time, if you are listening to gunshots or anything rotate your character in order to piece together their general direction more accurately.

Find cover spots where you are exposed only from the place you are looking at is really good tip. I especially use it when I find myself alone as there is a high chance that I am getting flanked without knowing it, and opening fire will et me spotted from directions I am not looking at.

the best way to see the enemy is to make sure you're hidden in cover and concealed yourself thus allowing you to take your time to look for muzzle flashes, check your map and hear their gun fire.

IMO there is two things: 1. Don't play on server where peoples are hard trying.. hard. 2. Do not move in direction of the enemy if the enemy know where you come from (exemple: straight from your hab towards the enemy), they will see you first. 2.1 That means: Flank ! Come from a direction or time and place where the enemy do not immediately expect you.

Only thing that matters in squad is situational awareness and audio. If you know your teammates are here and there you can deduce that anything in front of you, you just shoot. The main way you're gonna spot an enemy is either through his gun shot or his muzzle flash. Take time to listen for enemy gun shots and its easy pickings. Very rarely its a game of spotting the enemy first unless there is a lull in the firefight.

I seriously cannot stress enough the usage of the map, You cannot find your enemy if you don't know where to look. knowing the general state of your surroundings makes looking for enemies exponentially easier, and the map is by far the best tool to figure out what is going on around you. The places you know not to worry about are places you dont need to spend energy scanning for enemies, which means more energy towards scanning areas that actually do.

I’ve got over 3.5k hours in this game and I get what this guide is going for but it’s covering stuff that may help to a degree but really you won’t improve that much overall the key points from what I’ve seen in the vid that will drastically make a difference in spotting enemies is like you said using and understanding the map. The techniques in the video are only more useful if you know where to look Knowing where to look comes from experience and being able to read your map and understand it. Another point is understanding the map terrain and routes. There’s no point focusing on an open field if there is a tree line that can be used. One final point even though there is many more is your positioning. If you know where to position yourself the chances of seeing enemies is greater, especially if you know a rough route they will take you can position yourself in an unexpected spot to see and wipe them

Eh most of this dosnt really help, for me its: 1- managing your stamina and taking cower everytime it goes past yellow 2- Not going willy nilly but always move from cover to cover ALWAYS. 3- Learning to fire no scope and learning how to suppress the enemy 4- Playing seeding before each match (best way to learn uniform and gun sounds) Also you can see the enemy uniform when pressing tab and checking the match information.

If you're active scanning elevated positions from a lower position, when in partial cover (next to a tree etc.) on a rather flat surface, do it crouched rather than prone. You're way more visible from the top if you're "spinning around" prone (even if you turn slowly) as compared to crouched.

i don't know why you asked here but from my experience, if you can play squad you will have no issue transitioning to HLL. idk if you would like it but you will do fine. it's a bit less reliant on teamwork and such. more akin to battlefield but still has alot of teamwork focused mechanics.

I transitioned from HLL over to Squad and let me tell you Squad is a lot more demanding in many ways. It is 100% more tactical than HLL will ever be. People actually use their microphones, squads work together, no ping system if you don't have an FTL or you're not the SL so you'll have to be more cautious of the call outs. Tho it's a harder game to get used to at first it is in my humble opinion a better option. I can't go back to HLL for more than 1 match now because Squad is just more engaging , immersive and overall fun for me.

This game sucks ass. I tried playing this weekend and can never see any enemies. I get shot and killed from who knows where. You can't even see the objectives on your map. You never have a clue where you're supposed to go, your character runs insanely slow and if you do happen to find an objective, it's literally 10 minutes of running to get there only for you to be 1 shot from a mile away by an invisible enemy. You can't even tell the difference between a teammate and an enemy. You think you see an enemy, you shoot the enemy then all of a sudden it says you team killed..... Every aspect of this game is tedious and not fun. Why are objectives not clearly marked on the map like in literally every other FPS ever made. Why can't I see where my team is at all times so I don't keep killing them because they look IDENTICAL to the enemy? Especially from far away. I see why this game gets flooded with negative reviews every time they do a free to play weekend. The game is simply not fun. It's way too hardcore for 99% of people. Even in real life I can tell the difference between people even from long distances. In this game the screen is so blurry that you can't even see enemies most of the time and when you do see someone, you can't tell what team they are on. TLDR: you spend all your time running around trying to find an objective only to be killed by invisible enemies from 3 miles away that you can never see. Also you will kill your team way more than the actual enemy because there's literally zero way to tell an enemy from a team member when looking at them.

This is not a game for everyone. It sounds like you will have a better time on COD or Battlefield. This is a large scale milsim, not a solo run'n'gun arena shooter. Can't tell the difference between factions, and keep killing your team mates? - learn the uniforms. You have to use your eyes, brain, and check the map. In this game you can't rely on big coloured arrows or name tags appearing over team mate's heads babysitting you all the time. Get shot by someone you didn't see? - move slower (in cover), look more, and use the map. That person who shot you may have been marked by a team mate. Running for 10 mins (like I did at first) ? - You have to make good use of vehicles, don't give up immediately to respawn at main, WAIT FOR A REVIVE, and learn to recognise when a new HAB is going to be built by a squad (If a logi truck is driving somewhere with a SL in it, they are probably going to build a radio and HAB). Objectives not marked? - yes they are, learn to read your squad lead/commanders markers. Your team mates ARE clearly marked live on the map, even down to the direction they are facing, which also helps to know where enemies are, and where your team mates aren't covering. You have to use the map A LOT, knowledge is power. This game provides LOADS of information, it's all about how you process and interpret that info.
