Huh...i wonder what Childe being in the Abyss temporarily as a kid means for...all of this. Like, he wasnt a dead person who got there normally and managed to escape, but since we learned that his connection to the Whale began AS he landed in the Abyss, waking it, its bothered me that its seeningly still a mystery how he got there in the first place If this is how it all works, how did a living human who hadnt even gotten the chance to do something to be deemed "worthy or unworthy" end up in the world's trashbin for souls on accident?? If Skirk thinks this way and has such a goal as to save the souls condemned to this place, what went through her head when she came across a living human down there? It just...feels like theres something to this, even if its a part of some sort of metaphor maybe

Good questions. His character story says "That 14-year-old boy got lost in the snowy forest. Pursued by bears and wolf packs, he lost his footing and fell into a bottomless crack in the earth's surface. There, he witnessed the endless possibilities of another ancient world." Strange that there would be a bottomless crack. This happened when he was 14 and he's 21 now, so the crack formed very recently. I wonder if it's still there or if they open and close in certain areas after certain events.

I like to think the abyss is just a form of power that humans can’t understand and the reason why they get corrupted by it is because of the overwhelming amount of knowledge that they get a good example could be ruhkkadahvata who is corrupted by forbidden knowledge and couldn’t understand it, despite being a God but she was still able to endure that pain but I think that has something to do with her being a divine meeting perhaps celestial powered that to heaven use is that of power of the stars? In space while the abyss is holding or preserving that power so the abyss isn’t necessary evil like you said, but it could cause great disaster if not handled properly
@Deepstab111 ай бұрын
IMO if the imaginary represents everything that is and can possibly be then the abyss it’s everything that is not and cannot never be, it’s a ream of paradoxes but what’s interesting it’s that it’s own life forms and consciousness that wishes to be, to exist because the abyss cannot be, but when they enter in the imaginary their existances are painful and lack any inner logic, they turn to living paradoxes and threaten to collapse over time and pull others into the abyss with them

When you explained the ley lines and showed Dainsleif at 33:50 I noticed that his arm has the same blue cracks as the leylines. I wonder if that means anything and whether or not that adds to his Bough Keeper title.

So he is a living layline?
@xpearlx11 ай бұрын
@@ziebus904 That would be interesting. I think My Name for Now (or someone else, I don't remember ;-;) said that Dainsleif may be the the mortal remains of the third descender. In a way sort of like what Focalors did where she separated her divinity from her body/spirit and named that other half Furina. Dainleif's divinity could be the gnosis and his remains are the person we see in game, cursed with immortality and with not much memory of his past.
@iosis932411 ай бұрын
@@xpearlxBy the way, this is a super stupid theory based on nothing. Firstly, Dainsleif is an ordinary captain of a Khaenri'ah combat unit in a nation without gods, so he cannot be associated with something divine. Secondly, ALL Khaenri'ahs received the curse of immortality, and not only him, we literally had several quests in which we were told that Hilichurls who are not pure-blooded Khaenri'ahs cannot die, as well as purebloods who, unlike non-purebloods, were able to preserve their appearance. And also it does not coincide with the timeline, Dainsleif is 500+ years old, he was born very recently before the cataclysm, when the third descender died several thousand years before the existence of Khaenri'ah. Also, there is no connection between Dainsleif and gnosis, and if you do this theory, then Piero is more suitable here, who founded an organization that collects Gnosis to overthrow Celestia, although Piero is also just an ordinary magician from Khaenri'ah who was also born quite recently before the Cataclysm.

Iirc Zhongli isn't the only one. Venti guides souls too like we saw in his SQ. But that brings up two questions. Who did the guiding when he was asleep? And did all the original Archons do something like this? I don't honestly expect Ei to know anything about this except the bare minimum. Makoto probably did the heavy lifting on these matters while Ei defended Inazuma. Nahida probably has some method due to Irminsul and most of the Fontanians just became human.
@AzukaTheGoat11 ай бұрын
Ei might not have done it in the past but now she concerns herself with all matters having to do with Eternity and the way of Inazuma as it was back then, so this would have been one of those things. She’s much more in the know then people realise. I keep getting surprised at how people miss all these things in her lore.

True, but let me just say that regardless, Zhongli's relationship with the whole quelling the souls of the dead, the Taishan mansion, and the trial of earth, his parallels with Yanwan ye, is still too much to be considered in the topic and relevant to the question of what happened in Venti's SQ.

When I got a first hunch that genshin might draw from theosophy I had my worries about where it would go. But then again, I thought, Jung and Wagner did also have problematic ideas. Yet not to that extend. But it didn't affect the game. So I'll keep my hopes up. And in that sense I'm also relieved to know that you'd share concerns about theosophy. On another note: What I also thought just now is: how after theosophy, new age also had its take on western mysticism. As a whole, when one first goes down that rabbit hole, one is first with all sorts of missreading, attempting at a spirituality that unifies western and eastern traditions. Take for example The Kybalion by "Three Initiates". You also find these missreading especially when western and easter alchemy are brought together - and phoenices, dragons and elixirs are read as if they were the same thing. This raises the question: when hoyoverse did their research, did they find the theosophy/new age stuff? Did they stop there? Or did they dig deeper?
@kureo-liam10 ай бұрын
Personally, as long as hoyo writers make a good story and game, I'd let them detach themselves from sticking to irl esotericism as it could be uhhhhhhh... iffy at times, than to reference irl events without proper care and turn out errrrr.... insensitive? terrible? something that makes discussing the lore difficult to people new to the theorizing community (more than it already is lol). On the bright side, if they do it well, it could be really cool to have an area where we can talk about these references whilst acknowledging the hmmm, fucked up side of it, and not have that impact the enjoyment of the game. (Y'know, 'cause the references are quite influencial, especially to the worldbuilding lol)

It's ironic that you say humans wanted to be free after referencing the new Wings which say the opposite, that humanity always wants a god to lead them. I don't really get any sense that the people of the Ancient Civilization did anything wrong or were punished for anything. BS&M even says the way to temptation was sealed. They get messed up by the war, not by some sort of judgment. There's no reference to any sort of sin by them. Even when Unknown God talks about arrogation (which is ironic given her own thinking) of mankind she seems to mean Khaenri'ah. Also in general and apart from Unknown God who has her own issues, the gods are all happy with humanity and devoted to helping and leading them, which doesn't really fit with all this screw humanity, humans are bad, humans sinned, humans are ethereal souls without a body stuff. We meet a couple of human ghosts and they aren't evil spirits that need to do XYZ but are super chill, and as Hu Tao says, for the most part ghost are like that and bad ones are rare.
