What kind of vehicle are you driving? Does it come in a gas engine?
@CanadianInPhilippines2 ай бұрын
Hi Gl Wri @Offgridwealthmanagement Sorry for the late reply - we were on a road trip. I gave a fuller answer to your first question below. This is the abridged version which you may prefer (grab a coffee for the longer version) 😜🤔 JetCab Multicab Dumaguete (almost at the airport across from Royhle Air training buidling). Yes it is gas engine. Take care, Greg

Hi Mike B @mikeb9189 Thank you so much for the recomendation - we stayed right next door at Bermuda Beach Resort - they share the common walkway on the side. It looked nice also - I didn't notice anyone there. I was tempted to stay our last night there - but then our room was great - we had house #1 - private native house with large patio (sleeps 5) with large bathroom and right on the beach - was so nice sitting on the patio seeing/hearing the waves and laying in bed hearing the waves. Besides the owners of Bermuda who I saw walking a few times per day we had the beach to ourselves - what an amazing beach. Another friend who went there in Feburay originally booked one night and ended up staying four. Including us 2 there were 3 others at Bermuda. They noted July to Sept is there low season. It was absolutely amazing and the drive there and back was great in Lindie's 4X4. Take care Greg

I love the new garage now at Robinsons. Car stays cool.
@CanadianInPhilippines2 ай бұрын
Good point Mike B @mikeb9189 A cool car is a happy car! Looks like Robinsons knows how to keep the heat at bay-both inside and outside the garage! I need to break my creature of habit and stop going to that small parking area beside RibShack - if it is full (which it often is unless I get there when the mall is open) you have to go all the way around to get back to find parking - I never have luck on the main entrance side across from the call centers - but that area is always congested - I have parked on the main level of the new parking, but have never ventured higher - will do one day! Hi Christina Tizon @christinatizon5243 It's always tough to be away from home, but it sounds like you have some great memories tied to Dumaguete. Hopefully, you can visit again soon! Now I can say I know someone who built that great mall!! They are really expanding on the back - they built a multi-level parking area at the back near the street that goes to Mcdonald's and they are building more store space out the back as well - there is a large construction area walled off. Maybe they need your help! Amping Greg

Thanks for checking it out Harri Vennola @harrivennola8687 Christmas can be a wild ride, but we’ll get through it together! 🎄 Yes it is interesting how decorations go up starting in SeptemBER and music playing - in Canada the tradition (if there still is one) is to wait until after Nov 11 (remembrance Day) for our war veterans. When do they go up in Sweden? Amping Greg, Lindie and Cliffy

@CanadianInPhilipipnes I think it is the end of November here! A bit later than in Canada! I am not so fond of Christmas it is too hyped! 🤔🫣 but that's just me I think!
@CanadianInPhilippines2 ай бұрын
I am the same Harri Vennola @harrivennola8687 I totally understand where you're coming from! The holiday hype can definitely be overwhelming for some. Everyone has their own preferences, and that's perfectly okay! When I worked in my family’s retail store growing up we would all be sick of Christmas carols by the time Christmas ended - and when I was older and single I never decorated or got into it - I was working too much! Here in the Philippines, there are new things to discover - the early start to the season with the BER months (all months ending in BER), even in the mountains last year the sound of drums through the night and people caroling all through the night going from farm to farm - was interesting to see them visit Lindie’s family farm - of course I even made a few videos of it! We have a small tree - I better bug Lindie why she has been too busy to get our tree up - it is getting close to the middle of the first BER MONTH!! Amping Greg and Lindie

I like your car, in October I be also in the Philippines and travelling around
@CanadianInPhilippines2 ай бұрын
Hello enjoyingCyprus. @enjoyingCyprus I see you can ride a motorcycle - motorcycle or scooter is the best way to tour around if you are visiting - you can tour an island and hop on a ferry and get a ride to the next island and keep touring - it is a great way to see the country. The 4X4 we have is great - my wife got it in January 2024 - I also have a Honda Civic that I bought when I lived in Manila it was great there but not as good here if we want to leave the city and explore. For example, we went on a tour last week with her 4x4 and we hit 2 spots where my Honda could not have made it through. 4X4 or motorcycle no problems exploring. Safe travels over and enjoy your exploring so many great places to see. Amping Take care, Greg

I think Dumaguete is like Japan when it comes to road discipline. The tricycle drivers are very polite and would always yield to cars. Now, here in Negros Occ, especially in Kabankalan, the centric city where I mostly spend my time for about 2 years now, all the tricycle drivers here are like water, they always find a way just to get to their destination.
@CanadianInPhilippines2 ай бұрын
Hi SN57ONE @SN57ONE Haha, I love the "like water" analogy! I guess when you're a tricycle driver, you just go with the flow... or should I say, flow with the trike? Haven't explored your area yet - the closest I got was MABINAY to see the caves. We just got back late Friday from a road trip around the bottom of the island around the other side and crossed into Negros Occidental to visit Sipalay - we probably should have come back a different route but we came back the same way following the coastal road. So nice to explore - we plan to do more. Amping Greg
@SN57ONE2 ай бұрын
@@CanadianInPhilippines From Sipalay, if you want to go to Kabankalan, you can either take the scenic route through the valleys heading to the Municipality of Candoni, or take the coastal route through the Municipality of Cauayan. I personally would love you to take the coastal route since there's a lighthouse there that you can visit called "Sojoton Point", also complete with it's own snack bar, and breathtaking views. Very nice place, I guarantee. ❤ Best part is it's just along the road so you don't have to worry about getting lost.
@CanadianInPhilippines2 ай бұрын
Hello again SN57ONE @SN57ONE Thanks for sharing your insights! The coastal route sounds like a fantastic choice with all those beautiful views and the lighthouse to visit! Will have to do next time - we came home from Sipalay the same route going along the coast Basay, Bayawan, St Catalina, Siaton, Zamboanguita, Dauin, Bacong, Dumaguete and home in Sibulan. Looking forward to exploring more of the norther area past Sipalay next time when we plan more time. No worry about getting lost. We use Google Maps and they have a feature you can do an offline Map. So before leaving our home WiFi for our Sipalay trip I downloaded the offline map for the whole island - you can't control precisely the area so to get the whole island I also got parts of IloIlo, Cebu Island and Siqjijor Island - it is great I added it on two phones in case one battery was low - the one I don't even have a SIM card in and only use on WiFi and when travelling. Such amazing tech - no SIM Card in areas that don't even WiFi and the Offline Goole map works seamlessly without using up any data. As usual it gave us instant corrections and alternate routes when I MAY HAVE MISSED THE first TURN for Sugar Beach ! Of course I never admitted it to Lindie - except the next day she said it looked like a different road!! BUSTED!! We took her 4X4 and she drove the entire way home which was a nice break for me - got some amazing videos and flew the drone 3X - now just need to edit. Thanks again for the tip. Amping Greg

We both thank you so much for your continued support and encouragment and for the kind words! She will be a great driver for you - and you can give tips (much better than me) - she just drove back the whole way from Sipalay, we left the resort at 10AM, had a few stops along the way and got home at 5PM and Lindie drove the entire way - I was very proud of her! She now wishes she had the same confidence when we drove for 6 weeks across Western Canada and USA - and I could have used the driving help - looking forward to our next adventure there. @CanadianInPhilipipnes no I haven't been on that side yet but will put it on my bucket list for sure!! The island looks so great I love the surroundings!! Hi Harri Vennola @harrivennola8687 That sounds like a fantastic plan! The Philippines has so much to offer, and exploring it with friends will make it even more special. Valencia is a beautiful area! Sipalay was so nice - wait until you see the videos after I edit - even a small beach we discovered on the drive there - just spectacular. I remind Expats when they get down on the Philippines - just pack your bag and explore - there are so many surprises around the corner and find somewhere more suitable. We aren't forced to stick in one area - buying a house like we did makes it more difficult to continue my moving trend - but like Lindie and I talked about as we stood on Sugar Beach - THIS IS WHAT I RETIRED IN THE PHILIPPINES FOR - wide, deep, soft beach with clear water, nice resort, amazing food, great people - we need to take the time out of our ROUTINES to explore somewhere at least every month. Looking forward to exploring with you and your friend. Amping Greg and Lindie

In Ontario they started selling Halloween and Christmas stuff in July!!! I don't do Halloween, Christmas decorations come out Dec 1. Dumaguete looks like a nice place to live.
@CanadianInPhilippines2 ай бұрын
Hi dave light @davelight2220 WOW it's crazy how early they start with the holiday sales in Ontario! I totally get the preference for waiting until December for Christmas decorations - they love Christmas here - we finally moved our Christmas tree outside in June!!! I should ask Lindie when is it coming back inside since it is ALREADY Sept 8th!! 🙊 And yes, Dumaguete really does have a charm of its own! For what it is worth the PRA Philippine Retirement Authority (the government agency where you get the SRRV Special Resident Retirement Visa from) says this is the #1 retirement spot in the Philippines - not sure when/how rated etc. It is quiet compared to many busy places, has good weather, good stores and restaurants and a good selection of hospitals. Because it has a good airport and port it is a good place to use as a base for your exploring the Philippines and beyond. Also like most places in the Philippines it is very affordable on a pension. BUT I always recommend people come for a few holidays and explore different areas - one will speak to you - like buying a house or condo - check out 15 or 20 and one will jump out at you and if you pick one and don't like it - IT IS NEVER A FOREVER decision you can move - some people forget that. I see so many people complaining on chat groups about health care for example (I am preparing a video on that now) and I always say I have had nothing but great experience here in 6 years - maybe they forget how bad it is where they are from and if they think it is better they can always return. We didn''t contribute to the building of the health care system here with our tax dollars (as we never grew up working here) so we shouldn't be complaining about there system - we can pick and choose our healthcare solutions/options - most locals cannot. SORRY for the off topic sermon but the bashing of the country and often of the people asking quetsoions are the reasons I quit the Expat FB groups I was on. Amping take care, Greg

What kind of vehicle are you driving? Does it come in gas engine?
@CanadianInPhilippines2 ай бұрын
Hello Gl Wri @Offgridwealthmanagement They are very popular here. Companies import them from Japan then convert them. You will see all levels of quality of finish from very low end chops to almost new car finish - most of the new car like ones are done in Cebu City. We bought ours at JetCab Multicab - they have a manufacturing plant in Cebu City and a number of sales branches around the Philippines. We bought hers in January 2024 and have really enjoyed it. My wife's works great - she takes it up to the mountains regularly and we just took on a roadtrip to Sipalay Negros Occidental the last 3 days (videos coming). We took the route following the cost around the bottom of our island and up the other side - was so nice. I bought a Honda Civic in Manila in 2019 - it worked great on Metro Manila and touring around the lower part of Luzon - but not so great in the Province area where the roads are rougher. I took my Honda to Cebu City once and it was NOT HAPPY! We took my wife's 4x4 after that and it was much better. On the road trip we just did up the other side of the island we hit a few spots that were rougher and in one my Civic definitely would not have gotten through where they were doing bridge construction - her little 4x4 powered through with ease. And a car like mine had to back up and figure out a different way around. I have a Driving Playlist if you check it out you can scan through for a few more driving videos of her 4X4 - it is perfect for Province Life and suprisingly it has much better AC than my Honda Civic - the link to the playlist is kzbin.info/aero/PLeG3ZTV1b_0l9HPs337rMvKcyu20FZcO3 Amping Greg EDIT: sorry AFTER ALL THAT I forgot to reply to the second part of your question - YES it comes in gas engine, we put 91 Octane in it.

LOL handsomevex coolsman @handsomevexcoolsman3437 It is different for sure with no lights or stop signs but it manages to work most of the time. It is funny how some complain about traffic here - for the Philippines they need to drive in Metro Manila (off the Skyway system - down in the trenches) and in Cebu City (Mini-Manila for traffic). Have a great week ahead. Greg

@CanadianInPhilippines2 ай бұрын
@buzzbuzz4437 what a sad comment from someone who doesn't know her or us. Have you spent much time in the Philippines or Asia? I met her 2019 and married in 2021. She graduated college, drives Motorcycle, scooter her 4x4 and my car all comfortably. She is comfortable travelling, living in our city house or a simpler life when we are in the mountains. If you get experience in Asia she is exactly what I was looking for and the reason I didn't pick others I met. She is NOT a "Manila" girl - they can be anywhere not just Manila - for show in slutty clothes, skimpy bikini, drinking, sex with any foreigner making you feel like you are #1 - until you go home and the next foreigner comes along. LINDIE is beautiful inside and out. Not a bar girl. Religious. Hard working at home and on the farm and has many goals in life, which I support 100%. And like many good quality Filipinas she is shy and not so comfortable on camera. She is trying to get better - after 2 years of encouragement she finally is putting effort into her own channel. I will never use her like some other Expats do posing their GFs or wife in a thumbnail in sexy clothes for a video that has ZERO to do with the video. Those are easy to find online. You won't find that with us Lindie sitting there in a skimpy outfit smiling while I talk - look elsewhere for that. Your comment is uneducated and unfounded and you clearly DO NOT understand good Filipinas. Save YOUR OPINION FOR yourself no need to share with us AND the world. You started your KZbin channel Dec 25, 2019 and posted ZERO content. Was hoping to be able to share my thoughts on your life. Glad you have no content and just use your Channel to leave your opinion on other Channels with an anonymous name and no photo. Nice one. Thanks for nothing. By the way Lindie laughed when I read her your comment and she told me just delete it. I should have but your view is exactly why I want to quit KZbin sitting on your couch sharing your advice and have never made the effort to try to create something yourself. Good luck finding your Manila girl or Bangkok girl they will SMILE all day and night as long as you keep paying.

The term "Filipina" does not appear in the English dictionary. "Filipino" applies to both men and women. "he or she is Filipino". Filipino gals and guys.

Hi Come Concon @comeconcon569 Thank you for your comment! It's always great to have discussions about language and representation. Your input is appreciated! Have you spent some time in the Philippines? Or outside, around Filipinos and Filipinas 😜 Not sure what English Dictionary you are using. FILIPINO does refer to both men and women who are citizens of the Philippines, just as Canadian is unisex. But this does not mean that FIlipina is not a word - even if it doesn't appear in your dictionary. Filipino is commonly used for a guy Filipina is commonly used for a woman I have visited and lived here since 2017 and have heard Filipina in many settings - I won't be telling them excuse me that word you just used is not in the English Dictionary - I think many would say we don't care what an English Dictionary says. The English knowledge is not the Gold Standard - just as they laugh at how bad Google translate does with Tagalog, Bisaya etc. Look around there are dictionaries that refer to Filipina - I believe you that your dictionary doesn't include it but I am sure you understand how dictionaries are developed. They are done by companies and evolve and are definitely not universal. Amping Greg

@@CanadianInPhilippines the term "Filipina" could've been coined by Filipinos themselves. I've got an Oxford English Dictionary and Filipina does not appear. as I typed this message for you, KZbin also uses a spelling check in red to let you know that this word is used incorrectly or misspelled. I'm not into the Philippines culture, but I've met some of its people.

Hi again Like I said in my explanation of how dictionariers are created and I wouldn't rely on the Oxford English DIctionary to tell the Philippines or the world, what they can and can't use. Just because an old book's editorial staff haven't voted on its inclusion doesn't mean it is not a word - it is just not an Oxford English Dictionary word and there are many. If it was a Cambridge English Dictionary I would give it more weight - KIDDING! By the way KZbin is not turning anything red when I type Filipina - sorry got to run my Filipina has some dessert ready that her friend, another Filipina made, which FIlipinos and Filipinas all like! Come and visit sometime and save the weight in your suitcase no need for your Oxford English Dictionary. But make sure you bring a dictionary that includes the word Filipina (there are some) otherwise Immigration may deny your entry CHAR (JOKING)
