I use filters on both the top and bottom of my portafilter. I found I still need to remove the upper water sprinkler because the thing still gets gunked up but without the grounds plugging the holes. Dunk in hot water and let sit so the thick coffee just dissolves away. Nice and clean like new and off and running I am. Yes, keep it clean.

Great video. I have a recommendation. Take the video where Alan Adler shows how he makes coffee with an Aeropress and edit James Hoffmann over it, making it seem like he is reacting to it. I especially would love to see him criticizing Alan for using a scoop or microwaving his coffee.

On musical instruments this is referred to as "mojo". Incidentally a common way to "relic" white plastic parts on on instruments make them look older and used as if they have gathered "mojo" involves having them dipped/rubbed in coffee.

I don't know if this is part of what's been done in post, but James' tone and canter are incredibly consistent. With a bit more fluid joining of those clips, there'd never be another clean coffee drink machine in the English-speaking world.

There has been quite a bit of extra post work to blend the audio cuts for sure. Also, I often take time to try out multiple versions of similar dialogue to get a better match than just the first one I try. But James does naturally have a pretty consistent recording, which of course does help :)

I put my filters in the sink when I wash the dishes. They get all the flavors of the washed food. I never use soap. For anything. I wipe my plates with paper filters and save them for later use. Sometimes they catch some tasty bugs. But nothing can be compared to my own scent. That's why I always use my bath water to make coffee.

the video follows the audio cuts used to create the new dialogue, and in this one I felt I needed to dip into a few different videos in order for James to 'say' what I wanted. Not all the videos are so 'jumpy' though...especially if I use more of the original video.
