That is why we have those UUHP tires like the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 or the Bridgestone Potenza Race (which I have on my M240i). These are quiet like every other normal tire and they can also cope pretty well with the rain. They still need a little bit of temperature to generate grip but compared to my original Michelin Pilot Supersport which I had on my car before, they are not worse. And from around 30 °C tire temperature (measured via TPMS) they are pretty much there and it get's better and better the higher the temp gets. Those 30 °C I can even reach on colder days with like 10 °C outside temp. After like 20 minutes of driving outside town and on the Autobahn, I'm almost at 30 °C tire temp. So for me those UUHP tires are the best of both worlds. But I will still be testing the Conti Sport Contact 7 (on new wheels) next year and keep those Potenzas (235/40 R18 front, 245/40 R18 rear) for the next track day because they only did 6000 km so far and still have a lot of meat left.

In addition to everything you mentioned is fact that semi slicks also wear out bushings and bearings as the harder sidewall transfers bumps into the car. At 75k km I had to replace all bearings and there's some slack in front axle which I still have to address. Also, if you live in a colder climate, then keeping the semis outside when temperature drops below +5C will ruin the compound. Those NS-2Rs work good only when they are new, I experienced it already many times. But I still keep buying them as they are 3X cheaper than Federals.

Look man, my V6 Camry only gets driven in perfect conditions. She only uses semi slicks. She's a race car!

hey man i saw your 114i can you recommend it as a car in the sense of having a mix of fun with a good amount of reliablity and solid MPG? Is the car quite reliable or do i have to change/replace parts after tuning it stage 1
