Skadi is quite the controversial unit in FGO in modern times. Her upgrade was met with confusion as to why they focused on those aspects of her np. She has competition from her own ruler form. But still she holds her place as a solid piece of the quick support meta since she's really one of only two devoted options. I would love to get Skadi so that I have the option of Quick farming. That said, I don't think I'm gonna invest too much into this banner, as the Thanksgiving Kama banner did quite some damage to my savings (and I still didn't get her at the end). I also plan to roll on the New Years GSSR that has her in it as another shot at getting her (or Merlin).

Having both Skadi allows you to take a Quick DPS from your Friends List and still Quick loop. Plus, Ruler Skadi is a Quick looper herself, so you'll need your own Caster Skadi to enable her if you want to go that route.

You can not be more correct for OG Skadi. She was my first Meta Support (No Waver/Merlin/Tamamo/Nero Bride) at the time in NA. That 50% battery charge skill alone was game changing indeed, and like you also mentioned, even her NP (pre-buff) had saved my team and guaranteed me a win more times than anyone could imagine, just from a lonely "1-time attack evasion". Also true that in this new looping meta era, Summer-Skadi is way better, but still its always nice to have as many support characters as you can possibly can. You never know what kind of team builds or general usages you might make of them in the future.

Remember that Challenge Quest a couple events ago where you were fighting King Hassan and he'd spam instant death attacks? I built a stall team based entirely around spamming Skadi's NP and gradually beating him up with Castoria, lol.

Thank you for this more nuanced take. I got pretty heated at ZTL’s video where he was essentially saying skadi isn’t worth it with Koyan coming out and I’m like most of us already had the chance to roll for Koyan this year. I view the meta supports as box unlocks so honestly i don’t think that players can afford to skip out on any of them. It just feels messed up to spend a video memeing about quick instead of informing people that we have mighty chains coming, Improved quick change as well as a second meta quick support coming in like 6 months Even if you still don’t think quick is up to par i just don’t agree with suggesting people skip skadi especially when it’s entirely possible she can get one small buff and then quick could easily once again be the meta card type

i just saw his take and i totally agree with you. saying quick isn't bad while saying go for buster or arts. as for me i have Castoria, Kyonsakya, Oberon, so Skadi really is my last major meta support i need unless im forgetting something. you need Skadi to make your quick servants viable,

@@williamchoi8676 exactly we’ve had opportunities to roll for all of them this year. Personally I also have Koyan, Castoria and Oberon so skadi is the last meta support that i need but it’s sad to hear someone say all of the benefits of Koyan and castoria and then act like skadi isn’t worth the SQ. I rolled for himiko on his suggestion last year and while i don’t regret it because i love himiko if we’re talking about usefulness there’s no way that himiko is more usable than skadi. I just feel like we stopped objectively looking at quick and just started memeing on it all of the time

Agree, quick doesn’t seem bad per say, it’s just buster and arts got powercrept supports vs quick not getting a similarly strong support. If you want to use quick because your waifu is quick, then ideally you want both Skadi and Ruler Skadi.

My wished buff for Skadi's has always been the same: 50% self NP charge on top of the targetable one. If you wish to use her NP from zero: use the skill on herself. If you rather do the logical thing and charge your DPS, you still get a free 50% deal And if that's too strong, at least give her a 20% NP regen over 3 or 5 turns. The idea is simply to allow her to get her NP up among the Quick Servants she is supposed to help.

If you have both Skadis, you can take any Skadi friend support. With that, you can probably handle a large variety of node configurations.

@@wat146 summer Skadi has 6 aoe hits with 0.78 np per hit and even reduces enemy gauge by 1 each NP - so yes, having her as green core unit isnt a bad idea. p.s. at 120 lvl with 2k fou she has 16k atk - also reasonable.

As an Arts enjoyer, it's hard to appreciate Quick System (at first). Maybe because I don't have Skadi and a good Quick DPS. I didn't catch the first real looping farming meta at that time. When I came back after a hiatus, it's already on its twilight and the rise of Arts. But as the time goes by and more decent Quick servants added to my roster, I finally understand the charm of it. A consistent supply of stars that can gain you sustaining capacity for both damage and gaining charge by landing Critical Hits.

Honestly, I think a lot of the maligning of Skadi has less to do with Skadi herself as you said, and more to do with the Meta of the Meta of Arts vs Quick. Skadi was the undisputed queen of farming for a while there; she was the premier Support. Then of course Castoria releases and that changes everything - and in a way that ripples out beyond the two Supports in question. During Skadi's reign, the devs reacted by clamping down on subsequent Quick releases, intentionally gimping unit after unit to compensate for Skadi's dominance. But Arts received no such treatment. Castoria released, and not only is she a clearly an amalgum of multiple existing Supports, she is a power-crept version of some of them. When you put Skadi's NP next to Castoria, it is clearly inferior, on top of being more difficult to access. It isn't useless by any means, but apples to apples you get the weakest form of "invuln" for the shortest duration possible with no chance of boosting it. Granted, Skadi came out before Castoria, but in the long term it wasn't a case of leveling the playing field. Arts just simply pushed past it, and the wealth of Supports is, as you said, the primary reason I think. Quick is really suffering under the curse of block charge, as another. What Quick really needs, I think, is one of two things: either something to end the Block Charge curse or to better facilitate carding that is as reliable as an NP. Quick ended up being the hybrid of Buster and Arts and that's possibly part of the reason they were so scared of it as a Card type. Personally, I'd rather see them make carding a viable reliable strategy. Summer BB is a great idea, but even now that's just not good enough. If they gave Caster Skadi a buff to her S2 or S3 that enabled some form of care fishing and card lock so that Quicks have the unique option of being able to plan around carding through a wave, that would immediately put Quick back into the conversation again. The simpler but more boring approach would just be to give her a partywide battery of at least 20% on Skill 2. Or maybe a massive regen buff, though I like that even less. Either way it would have to be Skill 2 for the Charge, 1 or 2 for the regen. But I do think she's still a great Support, if now better for Supporting Quick units for CQs, especially ST ones, than for general farming.

The only time I think Skadi NP shine the most is when you facing CQ that involve very high instant death rate especially like the one from King Hassan. Even Castoria with Solemn defense can't help against it imo, although it still can help against normal atk with Solemn defense.

Skadi fell off 1 year after her release with both Chen Gong release and Nero Bride buff boosting Arts's viability above Quick.

@lu70lo ...no, it was Castoria. Nero Bride's buff was nice and all, but it didn't create the Arts meta as we have it today, nor did Skadi fall off because of her or Chen Gong. Having reasonably viable alternatives to the dominant meta is not the same as replacing the dominant meta.

Despite both the arts/quick meta , buster is more dominant because the looping does not discriminate between nodes Skadi has been my great white buffalo since I started fgo kind of ironic I had castoria , Merlin , Oberon and koya of light first . ( im only biased because I take joy in blowing worlds up with my NP4 Arjuna alter )

I have all three farm methods so that I can 1) support any servant that needs it and 2) give the other support a break. Although she isn't max out in skill, I have to wait a bit for the class materials.

Fun fact: double Quick, Double Buster is currently THE MOST COMMON deck for Quick units. Meaning Summer Skadi's Buster buffs are good for the MAJORITY of quick units.

I agree with your arguments but I would generally recommend people to skip caster skadi and roll for ruler skadi first. Once you get ruler skadi go back and get caster skadi.

This last month is killer. Skadi, Beni Enma and Melusine basically in quick succession. I'll dabble of each, but the likely result is none of them answering. New years will just be dabble on Koyan Dark, go for Taira and see how the gssr goes (the one with Taira and Melt, 2 targets for next year).

Thanks for the video. While Skadi might be useful to have, I've already tried for her twice and didn't get her. And, given that I want to get Koyan Dark as well as possibly others coming up soon, I feel like it is better to wait given that I'm not a whale and can't afford to roll on every good banner. Plus, from what I see summer Skadi is going to fit my roster better. I don't use quick servants much but my biggest ones are Atalanta Alter and Xiang Yu so summer Skadi is going to make them pop off better than OG Skadi. Xiang Yu has THREE buster card deck and a Quick NP.

Hmm. Being 3 months old in FGO, I thought about getting her, but my quick character so far is.. just Kama. Caster as a support for Assassin is probably not the best idea - target use of Riders will destroy poor snow goddess. Perhaps it would be best to wait for summer version and go for a fox now instead.

I am really torn on if I should go for OG skadi or save for summer. I have a lot of quick units and they both farm and to CQs well. problem is I have a little over 300 quarts and that doesn't guarantee a skadi I technically have a shit ton of free quests which should get me like 200-300 more SQs with all of the quest rewards as well but I can't crank that out in a few days just not enough time to do that. I also have a bunch of tickets saved so I am planning on using those I j ust don't know if I should burn 100 rolls with no guarantee I think normal skadi is better for my account as farming with oberon giving 70 charge makes my ftp arts servants farm no problem but occasionally I just need a quick DPS for single target situations making me want the more defensive option. I want a quick support I just don't know what I should do right now.

Considering that the gap between NA and JP is two years and Summer Castoria came out this year on JP, NA won't see her until 2025 (unless they decide to play catch up, which is highly unlikely considering the potential burn-out it could cause players).

Got Skadi on her first banner which was really nice since Dantes is one of my favorite servants and they synergies very well. I’m a little conflicted on whether I’m going to be rolling for Summer Skadi since it’s going to be close to Summer Kama’s rerun but I can’t remember if there’s any other servants in between then that going to be a must summon for me so I’ll try to save up to get both of them.

Can we talk about how important NP levels are for Quick units? Like every Quick unit needs a lot of NP levels. Even Skadi needs more NP levels to reach their full potential.

Good thing NP upgraded quick is the best damage modifier in the game. I've personally gotten a lot of life out of my upgraded 4 stars, too. It's really dependent on what you've rolled and if you have a Kaleidoscope, then you can really do a lot with Skadi's system.

@@rafresendenrafresenden.1644 Well, that is just NP levels. With an NP upgrade, an NP1 Quick unit does 800%. My point was that you need NP levels on someone without an NP upgrade, someone like Lancelot, to reach the same level of performance. (That's why you used to hear about Lancelot's NP level requirement a lot.) You take someone who's upgraded, like Fran or Edmond, and they're pumping out damage at NP1 or NP2, now.
