That is true. Sometimes you just have to make do with what you have available to you.

Great video. I also like to use local (individually owned) "fix it" - heating/air, garage door, tree removal, electrician, plumber...etc.

Definitely! It's always great to support your local businesses no matter the industry. Thanks for watching!

Decades ago my father bought a kitchen from a big well known chain. We were in Scotland and the registered office was in England. The install was horrendous and the company basically walked away with the money and we had to finish the job. We would have had to take them to court in London. I learnt two lessons: 1. Buy with a credit card if possible. 2. Buy from a local store with a local registered office or walk away, because then you can talk with the owner and he'll know that you won't leave him alone until the problem is resolved - it's too easy for a company to ignore you online.

I recommend the local store on the refrigerator for sure. These things are $3,000 and more. You need that 1:1 service that a big box store just is not going to give. Good message here.

That service is definitely one of the biggest reasons for going local. Not only for the shopping experience, but the service after the sale as well. Thanks for watching!

Small town people are not buying $3000 refrigerators! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 #clueless

Great video and message. The big box stores have all but lost any customer service. Makes for a very frustrating experience. Shop local!

I would love shopping local but the problem I have is that many local businesses refuse to match pricing. When local does match, I buy from them

That's an insane condition to have, given that small retailers can't get the same prices from manufacturers that big box stores have, since they depend on volume of product sold. You're basically saying that you would only support local businesses if they agreed to subsidise your shopping.

I remember when small town shops would gouge the hell out of everyone. There was no competition. Smug shop owners - take it or leave it attitude. Small town appliance stores were the worst at it. This video is BS.
