The first day she came back was misery for all of us. The other science teachers weren't that great either. I left school 20 years ago, I have no idea how I would even fit in a school uniform. 😅 Then again, our school didn’t have a uniform. It was also a terrible place, with unmotivated teachers and students. I was told consistently I wouldn’t make anything of myself, I showed no interest other than trying to get as many hours of sleep in during class as I could. All those teacher were wrong, I made a life for myself they can only dream of. Now for any kid in school reading this, school isn’t bad, education is a good thing. I’ve come across multiple things in life I’ve had to re-educate myself on because I didn’t pay attention back then. But, schools fail to teach us how the system works, how money works. (Unless you have rich parents who sent you to an expensive business school, those kids are thought with a different mindset). Schools are designed to teach you some of the basics and become a cog in society, a sheep in the flock, teachers can’t help it, they are a product of that themselves. Pay attention in school, but find something you are truly passionate about, it can be anything and think about how that can work for you. Education will get you only so far, educating yourself will get you that extra mile that will make all the difference.
@tigretora1 Жыл бұрын
I disagree. School does teach us how the system works. We are drones who go to school-prison so we can get a job-prison to make money for a warden who already has enough money but they are in competition with the other wardens for who dies with the most money. Granted, there are non-system exceptions, mostly by rebels who fought and continue to fight the system their whole lives. And outside of work can be good if you stay away from the system aka pop culture.

My high school permanently closed 16 years after I graduated. Six months before news of the closure was revealed, my school had a reunion to celebrate 40 years. I had no intention of going, but I’m still friends with one of my old teachers and she persuaded me to go. I’m glad I did because it was nice to make peace with some of my classmates and it was fun to give the cold shoulder to my old algebra teacher. I was all ready to ask him if he was still teaching or if he was finally doing something he was good at, but instead I refused to acknowledge his presence.

BECAUSE THEY SAID YES BAHAHA So I got up on stage and did all of Arms' lines 😂 I can't sing and don't particularly enjoy deafening people so Hog took over those parts and I did his. It was all so weird? But a heck load of fun 😂 In the interval we figured out an ending and afterwards they said I did a great job 😆 When the show was over, we went to go visit ya and you were happy and sort of proud, but also very, very jealous. great sketch as usual! I like how the characters are developing, they are getting better! But if you want to make a sitcom, here is the perfect set up: A street in a small town in Ireland, with the Flanagans (Ann and Oisin) Living next door from Barry, the McCormicks across the street, the squatters lads in the apartment building, Grandma Gerharty living near her Dereks grandsons, in an assisted living facility with the other older characters (grandpas and grandpas from the future), with the hard lads in the back alleys, and the office people in a commercial building near by. Of course there has to be an art studio and acting school for La Bullshat and Richard Chandley III, and for the Snob to visit. Make them interact with each other at times, and you'll have a perfect sitcom!! You don't need TV! Do it here and we'll be glad to pay you what you need to run it! It was also interesting to see that the nicer people all came to the reunion and most of the bullies stayed away. The one bully that did left early. Guess she felt misplaced because her game-playing didn't work anymore.

In 2019 we had a reunion marking 70 years since we started school in country South Australia, which began with dinner on Friday evening, and went through to Sunday afternoon. It was great, as some of us hadn't seen each other for over 60 years, and most of us had gone through the 7 years of primary school together, and the class numbered around 24. Of these, 8 became Registered Nurses, one teacher and a Baptist Minister, an Anglican Priest, and a Lutheran Deaconess.

There's this dream that probably every outcast in school has to come back one day as a rock star, a millionaire, a scientist, a famous author,... or at least happily married - just to rub it in their faces they were wrong about you. As long as I've got nothing to show for, I'm not going. I would be right back to being awkward and self-conscious, and I don't miss that feeling. When my English teacher told me I was "intelligent, but lazy", my entire class laughed at me - and not at the lazy part. A rather immature part of me has been hoping to prove I am in fact intelligent ever since, but how do you do that? You don't by coming to school reunions.

I went to one reunion and that was as a courtesy for a former classmate. It wasn't a bad reunion, it was fairly pleasant. I had poignant conversations with some classmates during the dinner part of the reunion. That was probably the best part since it was at a restaurant in my home town. There were some odd questions by one person I remember who made a comment about where I lived. They said," Oh, you didn't move far away." I was like, "Oh, was I supposed to?" Some classmates didn't talk to me at all and at the end of the dinner, there was a homecoming festival so I went there for a bit and hung out for a little while. It was relatively boring so that was where the reunion fizzled since everyone was just kind of doing their own thing. I was talking to the classmate I came to the reunion for and we were talking to this other classmate that was pretty stand-offish towards me. I headed out shortly after that. My observations were that a lot of the people who were at this reunion still thought it was high school. The next reunion I made it known that I was vacationing in Dallas so I couldn't make it and I've never even considered going to another one. Long story short. Save for a few people, these individuals are not my friends. If they wanted to reach out at some point, they would have. Facebook doesn't count which is why I'm not on it. The End.

Really enjoyed this squatters - think it's the funniest one so far! Foil and Hog's characters seem pretty set now and work very well. Foil's is a very funny foil-like character, a realist who does give much of a damn. A fantastic contrast to Hog's Suits - who was so convincingly Suits despite different clothes and non-comedy hair. A loser or nerd of the highest degree! The delivery of some of those lines was hilarious. The 'school grounds' bit especially. Them being friends from school does make sense. Losers who have stuck together... or got stuck together. Arms character... I still don't exactly know who he is or how he fits. But that's OK, there's still heaps of space to build on and fill in the blanks. Is he a loveable idiot, is he just really unaware, is he the foil that isn't quite foiling? Them all being school friends does tie in why he's also with these other guys... Though I like him being a little removed. Maybe he's going to their school reunion because he went to his own but no one remembered him or he was banned from going because of an 'incident' which stays ambiguous or paints his character a certain way. This was definitely my favourite squatters sketch and I laughed a lot. But I want to be able to quiz Chris about - his hobbies, his childhood, his family, embarrassing incidents - anything! I'd have no idea of the answers. Foil and Hog's character I could take a stab at some answers, but they could still say the opposite and it would be surprising and funny. I'm on board with Squatters - theres some really good stuff!
