I use to fly gas engine rc aircraft. With the entry of viable electric , I switch to EDF jet. One of the greatest advantage of the brushless motor is to turn the ducted fan at high speed and result in a Electric ducted fan systems. It will never equate to the turbine jet engine but its the closest you can buy at a fraction of a turbine jet systems Maintenance is almost free, accept you need to check the brushless motor after a certain number of flight cycle ....otherwise its almost hassle free. Moreover, the cost of lithium batt and brushless motor are coming down.

@robertrose10982 жыл бұрын
Exactly!!! There's footage of them standing together with really strong wind !!!! And it's a bloody cross wind 😳. It's so obvious that the thing was flying nice . I even though it looked real also it sounded nice with the twin ducted fans harmonizing.. then the landing came . And any 10 year old could tell there was a cross wind buffeting it . I thought he was going to power up and try again..but no just do that!!! Sad to see the disappointment on the builders face . He's blaming himself... I can see clearly what happened 🤔
@robertrose10982 жыл бұрын
This RC A10 is buitiful my friend, it looks fantastic flying and sitting, I noticed that the wind was quite strong and also a cross wind , I also recently watched another A10 RC build flying and apparently the A10 .. because of the twin engines mounting points they will have the tendency to drop the nose when power is increased, also it was mentioned that the tail didn't get enough flow of air to effectively control the aircraft when under little power such as landing . The real aircraft have there own challenges because of this amazing design. This model is lovely and very impressive, it sounds like a real A10 when flying past,. The landing was bloody hard ,, I don't think any other aircraft model could hit the ground at that force and soak it up,. I believe this model was perfect and the cross wind combined with the low speed at landing led to the accident ,. No errors in the building, no pilot error, just an unfortunate moment. On the plus side . . The thing looks real as it hit hard and skidded along and the footage is amazing.. GOD bless you RC Chaser ,. Great video

I'm think he was a competent pilot who got a bad deal. If that E servo died in flight, in addition to the CG being off (looked tail-heavy), he should be commended on getting the bird down. Here is where communication, along with a spotter that's knows flying, can be an immense help. If I was that spotter, and WE felt it was tail-heavy, I probably would have had the presence of mind to suggest to him "gear up", to shift the CG forward. Also, he was flying an edf, with these issues... their ain't a lot of time to figure this stuff out in 3-4 minutes. When I do a maiden, I try to have a plan in my head for what may go wrong... I know I can't think that fast on the fly.
@simonetaormina70802 жыл бұрын
The flight looked good, did the elevator fail on final? Or was he fighting the whole flight?
@modellbauusa2 жыл бұрын
The left elevator went full deflection down. About a minute after takeoff. The plane was well out of trim when I took off. After I got it in trim it rolled violently when left elevator failed. Had full rudder and full aileron to keep it straight. Landed as best as I could for the condition.
@francisconti90852 жыл бұрын
@@modellbauusaVERY WELL DONE! That's a whole lot of force on the A-10 when a control surface is full deflection..lucky for aileron &rudder authority, not sure engines had enough thrust to fight the "airbrake" effect of fixed full deflection, extra lift from flaps might have helped soften the pitch down, but would gotten more of wing torn up on landing..if it could even maintain airspeed..lucky it didn't lawn-dart. Well, like they say about the survivability of the full scale Warthog, even in worst case scenario it still has the capability to fight through the the effects of battle damage to @ least bring pilot back to friendlier territory either to bail or try a similar landing.. Looks like will be able to fly again.. with better servos hopefully! The A-10 is a good "stick & rudder" planform, a fighter jet woulda just spiraled to dirt-nap...great job saving it!

That is text book tail heavy or too much throw in elevator, my FF F-100 did the same thing (too much throw) and my 1/6 F-18 did text book same thing also because throws were too high on both. It would fly straight until elevator input ... NO DOUBT too much throws or tail heavy. The other indicator of to much throw is when it got slower the pitching up and down increased vs the tail dropping on landing and it float back up. This is a plus for the model maker, that landing was rough but it looks like you guys know how to get it back together
@pilot74sparki2 жыл бұрын
Go to 3:55 - elevator linkage separated - so only one side operational and other fixed in nose down position! - this is why the plane looks so out of trim and nose heavy. coupled with high winds and a constant roll tendency I think they did well to get it on the ground with any sort of control. Actually watch all the video before commenting how bad the pilot was or incompetent the CG setup. Nice plane though.
