Acne treatment takes time. Consistent use of benzoyl peroxide and adapalene are going to be the most helpful. You can also add in salicylic acid to reduce pore congestion. Moisturizers and sunscreens are essential for skin barrier protection. See a derm if not improving in 3 months

Treat acne from the inside out by improving your gut health. Do a candida cleanse. Eat fermented food and probiotic supplements. Eat less sugar and carbs that feed the bad bacteria in your stomach. Acne is a sign that your body is draining toxins produced in your gut by bacteria. Research leaky gut syndrome ;)

Have you tried giving your skin a break? I used to use bha in nearly everything like daily and even tho it didn't damage my skin visibly, my skin seems to be much calmer and with less active acne now that I focus more on hydration and barrier repair. This is some things I do that have helped me get skin without acne and glowing all day. - Use a gentle face wash that removes extra oil and cleanses your skin well. I suggest littlleextra rriiceberry face wash only as it balances the skin pH as well. - Eat a nutritious diet. Avoid oily, junk, and spicy foods. Choose vegetables, fruits, and foods rich in vitamins C, E, A, antioxidants, and minerals. - Exercise aids clean impurities, so make sure to exercise regularly to cleanse your whole body. - Avoid touching your face often coz our hands are often full of germs that can lead to pimples when they touch the face. - Once or twice a week, use an oil or serum for a facial massage to improve circulation. - Weekly, do a cleanup routine: cleanse, steam, scrub, use a mask, and rub 2-3 ice cubes. - Washn your brushes and other things you use because they can harbor germs that can cause pimples when they come into contact with your skin.

Sorry to hear this is happening to you! Trust me when I say nothing looks as bad as their ugly personalities. But my biggest advice I could give you is to keep the routine simple and be consistent and go to a dermatologist. Using a routine as simple as cetaphil products or cerave depending on what you prefer. benzyl peroxide doesnt work on all skin types. It has been my saving grace since I was a teenager and is still to this day (I am in my 30s). I had oily/combo skin when i was young and now it is combo/dry. If you have very dry skin, salicylic might work better for you. It didn't work for me. Benzoyl peroxide targets acne-causing bacteria and works best on red, inflamed acne and whiteheads. Salicylic acid exfoliates to help shed dead cells that clog pores and is helpful for rough, bumpy breakouts with minimal redness.

I love PanOxyl but only as a body wash bc it kills the smelly bacteria. The few times I've put it on my face, it completely wrecked my skin barrier, and my face was dry and flaky af. Just use it as a body wash for armpits, butt, and outside coochie. Let it sit for 3 mins bc it needs time for the active ingredient to work. I'm a very sweaty person, and this has really helped me not smell during the Florida summer.

@@TEAandWINE Benzoyl peroxide is actually supposed to dry your skin out, but I really can't remember if it made my skin oily as well. It's best to use moisturizer after the benzoyl peroxide is fully absorbed by your skin, more like 15-30 mins after, but I don't think it should do you any harm if you used it 1 hour after. But if you are still having problems with it, please check a dermatologist near you!! My experience with benzoyl peroxide before was not great also. My face were on fire. It burns and stings the moment you apply it. But after a month of continues use, my face got used to it and it's not burning anymore. If benzoyl peroxide is still making negative effects on your skin besides burning and you don't want to go to derma, maybe switch with adapalene or tretinoin. These two are more effective acne fighting ingredients and are actually more tolerable.

I wouldnt recommend to use a cleanser with active ingredients while using a Benzoyl peroxide cream. The Benzoyl is already drying your skin out and cleansers with actives are usually very drying and strip your skins moisture away. you might just need to get on prescription antibiotics or an antibiotic cream, clindamycin was the only thing that ever worked for me and ive tried everything, it sucks, the only other option is maybe isotretinoin but that has so many side effects

Ooorrrr…you haven’t found what’s inflaming your skin and causing the acne. Could be as simple as dairy, too much sugar, gluten, eggs, etc.

it could also be hormonal acne! it can flare up at all ages (but especially the teenage years or early twenties) due to the hormonal changes / imbalance. i’m 16 so i’m dealing with it pretty bad atm especially because of my awful skin genetics 😭

can somebody help me. i always had very oily skin/big pores (still have big pores) and i do have acne. but since i started to use products to fight the acne (BPO and salicylic acid) my skin became more dry. what moisturizer should i use now? a moisturizer for dry skin? is that okay for people with acne or would it make the acne worse?

I really reccomend the Illiyoon ceramide ato cream. I have combo skin but it still works well. Very calming, repairs the skin barrier, and healed my angry irritated skin overnight. The Krave Beauty great berrier relief and the Aestura cream also works well.

Can benzoyl peroxide be used long term daily? I was told by an esthetician that it shouldn't be used long term and i should switch to something else.
@1rismono
@1rismono Жыл бұрын
you can, but the longer you use the less effective it is. So I would take a break after a few months. And maybe switch to retinol to actively prevent new acne

Omg I had an esthetician tell me I should stop using bp when my skin had been clear for over a year so I stopped using it and all my acne came back. My derm said after the skin clears to use a lower percentage or use it once to three times a week but still use it because it will only continue to work for you if you use it. I recommend getting advice from a derm instead because they are well educated on skin care I’ve found great resources on KZbin since going to the clinic is so expensive.
