Everyone hates uptiers, right? The good news is that there are vehicles that can help you deal with them :) I've become a massive fan of the weird and wonderful tank destroyers in War Thunder over the last few years, and I LOVE using them in up-tiers to deal with stronger enemies. I've put this little comparison video together to show just how powerful a tank destroyer can be next to a medium or heavy tank. They really are essential (and fun!) components of any good lineup IMHO :) What do you think? Tankonaut.

4.0 US is fun. 4 different Shermans, 5 if you count the Ram II (M4A5). The M61 is one of the better rounds at that BR, too!

I could be driving a Sherman Jumbo and I still get scared whenever I see that fuckin Russian Tractor with a gun on it. I think it’s the ZIS-30 or something. Tank destroyers are scary asf

haha, yes I've been playing the low tier russian tank destoryers and they are scary as hell. The tractor (Zis-30) and the truck (YaG-10) such a great suite of vehicles!

Russian tanks in general are scary. The IS2 and 3 pack a punch and the SU152's gun and armor aren't a joke if you only have the regular 76mm shells

The SU-122-54 carried me through 8.0, despite it being 6.7 tank destroyer. Its insanely good, and can fight even 8.7 tanks if played right.

@@AndrewVasirov Yeah, ppl sleep on it despite it having the post war 122mm gun with sub-20sec reload, access to HEAT rounds that can kill anything under 9.3, 2- 14.5mm machine-guns that shred through most light tanks in the game and can turn the tank into an AA (the btr-152a has the same machineguns as its main armarment lol) its armor 100mm angled is good arleady, but it gets to almost 300mm in the mantlet which can bounce all sorts of rounds. And on top of that its also pretty mobile, and even has a rangefinder for sniping.

I 100% agree with you. Tank destroyers as one of the best counter to upteirs. My favorite being the ISU-152 (which I call The hammer) and the Jagpanther (which I call the Jager). Great video as always, hope you’re having a good day God bless.

In an uptier, my tanks struggle to pen stronger German and Soviet armour. Luckily I have a PVKV II with 182mm of pen with AP, and a Sav m/43 with 300mm of pen with HEAT

Heh, yes the grind never ends - but the difference in your ability to win matches is huge when you have a full lineup - I noticed a massive improvement in my win rate after I got full lineups :)

Used to play a lot of Brit ground, the 17-pdr is a godsend at mid-to-low tier. the SP 17pdr Achilles changed my life, from 3.7 to 5.3. Never underestimate a well placed Shot Mk.8 APCBC

For range setting? Go to controls and adust "Mouse Wheel (ground vehicles) to "sight distance control" and change the multiplier (speed) to your prefernce. Mine is set at 40% - remember to reset it after shooting / killing so your gun range is set to normal.

As a Japanese main, tank destroyers carried me through low and mid tier. at higher tiers like 5.7-7.3 the tank destroyers are like hole punches that can put a hole in nearly everything short of a tutel, maus or IS-3, 6 or 7. The artillery guns are also great at removing annoying light vehicles like foxes and weasles from my sight, as the ho-ri can withstand alot of autocannons up to 30mm and even some 30mm aircraft cannons depending on belts

I preffer extremely fast vehicles to cap bases in the first minutes of a match such as armored cars or AA trucks, and sometimes they can fight back other vehicles. And then heavy tank a medium one, and if possible an amphibious light tank. And a plane Amphibious tanks are a kind of once in a while in certain maps, but those times it changed the entire match to have one both in tier 1,2 and tier 7 to 8 with things such as the bmp. But for the 1943 linup yep there is always a tank hunter. The thing is that i preffer 50s era stuff or tier 1 stuff

Haha 100% I totally agree on the weak spots - knowing them and shooting them is a game changer. the only reason why you can’t always rely on a weak spot is like in this example - a t-34-57 can kill a panther but at range it’s hard to hit the weakspot whereas the panther can shoot you anywhere.

I do agree, although IMO it depends a LOT on the nation and BR you're playing at. E.G.: 4.3 Germany, I don't really see any use for the StuG there. Yes it has 80mm of frontal armor, but the exact same gun as the Pz. IV. Same with Na-To. I find SPGs almost too situational to take most of them into a battle

They have an advantage in spawn cost as well as their firepower. Spawning two medium tanks gets a cost penalty but spawning a different vehicle class (particularly a tank destoryer) is alwaysa cheaper :)

The stock ap shell isn't capped and yes it sucks! :) Prioritize getting the M82 shot - its a tier one modification and MORE important than parts or FPE - get it first. You still won't be able to pen a panthers upper front plate unless point blank, but you can wreck it through the turret face/mantlet. The M82 will also smash most other enemies you face. However, prioritize flanking in the regular m36 (the m36b2 has heat which can reliably deal with panthers head on) you want to be hitting ememies side on as you don't have the armor to face them directly. see this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoScZamGltZmgLc - check the last kill I wait until the panther is side on and I know I have a killshot before giving away my psoition.

I think depends more by your tactics. As Italy main i can say i use my high mobility and good guns for a bite-and-run tactic, because they can't kill you if they can't find you. Also, no need to play the indestructible rock. Nobody is invincible

I am a ground player and I do admit unlocking planes is hard as a tanker - basically you earn research points when using planes in ground battles - BUT it is slow progress. You will earn a LOT more research points by playing air battles - which I now do when I am trying to research a new plane. I'm not a big fan of air battles as I prefer dogfights in ground but its the best way to unlick new planes quickly. :) @@ultraslay7635

Great except when your at BR 2.3 and get up tiered to 4.0

So you can only be uptiered 1.0 Br Higher than the highest BR vehicle in your lineup ( check my uptier guide ). You must have a 3.0 vehicle in your 2.3 lineup. What nation are you using and what are you having trouble killing?

@@tankonaut I might have had a BR 3.0, I remember that it was the M3 Lee, M3 75mm, and either M3 light or M5A1

I remember killed 3 panthers alone with my 2.7 SU-57B in close-range. Their turret somehow is too long to aim for my tank😂😂😂

yes, I know the history of the vehicle - but this is a video about war thunder the game. and in the game it's classed as a tank destroyer. IN real life it was also used as a tank destroyer :)
