Please don't use the term "Explosive Plyometrics." just continue to use the term "Plyometrics" or otherwise you're yielding the term to those who misuse it. Stick to your guns and vigorously correct those who misuse it. Plyometrics means an explosive contraction (rebound) from a stretched state with an amortization phase of less than 2/10ths of a second. This is the SSC that is the foundation of all plyometric exercises. The only two trainers on KZbin that I have seen before this vid who know what plyometrics are, are Matt Wichlinski and Jack Cascio. I've watched hundreds of others' videos that have "Plyometrics" in the title and they are often the opposite of plyometrics. I think it's best to PM these individuals and correct them and refer them to sources where they can actually learn what Plyos are and hopefully they'll self correct. At the very least, they should have an exact knowledge of what the SSC is. I also use the term "Pre-Plyometrics" to describe quickly or even ballistically executed exercises, but which are not quite plyos, or for those exercises that are foundation exercises for later application to plyos, like the Olympic lifts and squats, or bounding or jumping, etc.

***** My comment was addressed to Dr. Yessis, you, and everyone who watches this vid and who happens to read my comment. I hope I'm not coming across as pushy or abrasive, I just want to get some accuracy in this most critical aspect of training because it can be so beneficial for explosive power and top end speed and quickness that can be applied to almost any sport, when it's done correctly.

While I agree it is a lost cause at this point. Plyo == jumping at this point to basically everyone. Instead it would make more sense to say reactive ability training for what you mean IMO For sure there is a difference between jumping for speed-strength and doing true plyos for reactive ability but for whatever reason we don't care about the phrase "reactive ability" in our training language much. Mart you should also put Dr Yessis in the title.

If I place 10 one meter tall hurdles four feet apart and jump as fast as I can over the hurdles.. would that count plyometrics? what about standing triple jump or penta jump?
