During the movie I was wondering who was the cinematographer I had chills from the choices they made and what she created in her mind, just amazing!

Alice Brooks is the actual hero of the film. She deserves an award.

@midnightvoids right? I loved the movie but the cinematography and color correction were the weakest parts of the film

She deserves to be fired and never touch a camera again in her life for almost ruining the entire film..

the fact that millions of people will never go down the wicked interview rabbit hole and find out all that went into making the movie, especially the attention to detail (though i still wonder if nine million tulips was really necessary) and lack of cgi, annoys me so much. like haters hating on wicked getting nominated for awards recently makes me so mad because they cannot possibly appreciate what this crew did!!

Even when going into this movie hearing about the criticisms of the color grading, I never had a single issue with the use of color in this movie. I thought it was very colorful and moody with its lighting. Idk if I just went to a screening that had a good projector of what, but I really like the camerawork of this movie.

I feel conflicted with this after seeing the critiques on lighting. Jonathan Bailey’s number with the “Sun” shining through the windows… first, I’ve never seen a sun so powerful it shone through two windows so vast. It truly covered the expressions of the actors and the dancers… and this is what I noticed in In the Heights which she DP’ed on, too. Second, defying gravity before the final song is SO dark. It makes it hard to see Cynthia’s green/darker skin and Ariana’s is just a bit more visible due to her lightness. I understand lighting is a stylistic choice but it just seemed so over or under blown. Everyone has their preference, though.

Tbf the lighting on DG is intentinal as it makes Elphaba have Villian lighting

Arri for Ari is actually perfect. But it's an individual assessment whether you like the lighting. In my opinion, it gives the movie something magical.

This cinematography was amazing 💯! The only thing I want to add is that “Dancing Through Life” had a bit too much lighting coming through those large windows in the library. The vibrant colors of the costumes and setting gets washed out. I couldn’t make out all the amazing Choreography that was happening because of the glaring light in the background distracted from it 😅. I heard a lot of other reviews saying the lighting in general was overpowering at times, but this was the only time I noticed it. I really really really hopes this gets fixed in post production! Because I plan on buying this movie on Amazon Prime and that’s the only tweak I think this awesome movie needs 👌🏾❣️

The color degrading is a minor flaw in an otherwise masterful work! But I do like how she describes the process. And the rule of symbolism between Elphie & Glinda is a stroke of genius
@maicon.932 күн бұрын
I really don't understand what's wrong with the color that some people are talking about? this movie should represent a "real" world, not a dream or fantasy like The Wizard Of Oz... so it makes sense to me that the colors are the way they are...
@manuelorozco77602 күн бұрын
@ At least it does bring a lyrical quality to things
@user-ef7kt5sf6o2 күн бұрын
@@maicon.93the problem is the colour grading isn’t “real”, it’s just grey. In real life colour pops but in wicked a lot of it is dulled out
@DavidDickeee2 күн бұрын
The color grading is a POOR example of a film colorist not being able to do their job The cinematographer and director have NOTHING to do with film coloring besides light and handling the film off to a lady at a desk in Los Angles ( for Wicked The film was colored by the same lady who colorized Thor Love and Thunder and Madam Web
@user-ef7kt5sf6o2 күн бұрын
@ she also worked on John Wick 4, joker 1 and 2, house of usher, Eternals and Doctor sleep. It’s not her fault the film is badly lit
